Want the Band to visit again and again!

by MGDurham1 on 10/13/21DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Wonderful production. I left with tears in my eyes. Cast was amazing, music was supreme and well played. The production's technical aspects were flawless. Would highly recommend. I saw this twice at DPAC within one week's time and loved it even more the second time!

    Very entertaining

by Colette on 10/12/21DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Although we didn't have the best seats, we had a clear view of the stage and the sound at DPAC is great. So glad we saw this musical as it is entertaining as well as giving a subtle and sometimes not so subtle message. The main female character Dina is great. Loved her raspy voice with warm undertones. I enjoyed all the actors. The play gave you a taste of what it would be like for Israelis and the Arabs to get along. Alas, right now it is just possible in a play.

    Shocked

by Disappointed on 10/8/21DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

I have seen a lot of Broadway shows. This was the worst one I have ever seen. You couldn’t understand anyone in the play. Sorry but it was awful.!!!!!!!

    Entertaining

by Stu in Raleigh on 10/8/21DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Solid storyline, well acted, fast paced and entertaining. Some humor, some pathos. No real showstopper numbers until the band played at the end for a few minutes-would've liked to see more of that.

    Quietly Gorgeous

    by LynnS on 10/6/21

This gentle musical about loneliness and people’s longing for connection strikes deep during the isolation of the Covid era. More a play with music, rather than a traditional musical, it dares to use silence as people struggle to communicate. The ending gives me such a needed feeling of hope that I wept. The performances are nuanced and beautiful and the band is fantastic! If you are looking for splashy, this isn’t it. But if you want a show that is thoughtful and different, funny and gorgeous (all stemming from rich characterization), then do visit The Band’s Visit.

by Winzer on 3/4/20Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House - Dallas

I bought 3 $85 tickets picking seats out on 1st level, left side, arrived to find the tickets were for the 4th floor balcony far left side. Ticket Master you are not, expensive lesson

    Boring

Tech was good, music was good, the show itself was very boring and I can’t believe I spent $49 on an one act musical

    A delicious slice of life

by Flora on 2/5/20Hobby Center - Houston

Love and lust, shyness and lonelines, come together at Dina's cafe. The performers find their characters and reflect them back to the audience to discover their own Haled and Dina. The music soars and is cleverly written and beautifully sung and performed. Aleikum asalam.

    The Band's Visit

    by mclem12@gmail.com on 2/5/20Hobby Center - Houston

We loved the play. Found it so creative and fun. The music was amazing, especially appreciated the jam session after curtain calls. The only negative--our seats were in orchestra near the back of the lower level. Some of the words were hard to hear, and /or difficult because of the dialect. Overall would highly recommend it.

Liked it Better Than I Thought

by KelBel on 12/20/19Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

I had read the online summaries of the plot and I didn't think I was going to like the show very much. I found it a lot more entertaining than I expected. Warning, there is no intermission so plan in this particular show so plan accordingly. The seats at this venue are not real big (we didn't check our coats and that was probably a mistake) and pretty tight between the rows so men with long legs are not going to be very comfortable.
