The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) on Tour

With the untimely passings of Maurice Gibb in 2003 and his brother Robin in 2012, the original Bee Gees are sadly no more. But you can still experience all of the group's biggest hits — from their breakthrough ‘60s pop ballads to their ‘70s disco classics to their ‘90s comeback anthems — in concert, thanks to this expert tribute act hailing from the Gibbs' home continent. Not only do the Australian Bee Gees sound just like their idols, they look a lot like them too: guitarist Michael Clift sports positively Barry-esque mane, facial hair and (thanks to dental prosthetics) teeth; keyboardist Wayne Hosking does Maurice proud with a fedora and tidy beard; and vocalist David Scott is a dead ringer for Robin in his shaded specs. The house band at Las Vegas' Excalibur Hotel and Casino, The Australian Bee Gees ensure that any day of the week is ripe for Saturday-night fever.

The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) Background

While they've ably filled the void left by the brothers Gibb, the roots of the Australian Bee Gees date back to when the actual Bee Gees were still active. After playing their own original music — and noticing the crowds being pulled by the tribute acts they sometimes played with — the trio of Michael Clift, Wayne Hosking and David Scott decided to switch lanes in 1996 and become "Barry," "Maurice" and "Robin" in a tribute act they dubbed The Australian Bee Gees. While the Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever hits anchored the set list, the ABGs approached their show with a true connoisseur's eye to the band's deep back catalog, giving equal weight to the group's many pre-disco singles. Once the ABGs landed in Vegas in 2011 for an indefinite run, the performance evolved into a multimedia experience complete with videos, costume changes, choreography and period-specific sets. The show has also spawned an international touring production that's visited over 50 countries.

  • Too Much Reverb

by Soundman on 11/23/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

I am myself a sound engineer and musician. The band was awesome. I have just two recommendations - 1). There was way too much reverb on the voices (not enough cowbell as well, sorry, just had to say that), and 2) people sat at the front can only hear the drums clearly because the PA speakers are not facing them. You need localised sound for the people that are not directly in the line of the main PA arrays.

  • Not as good as previous "cast"

by LC on 10/12/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

"Barry" didn't have as strong a voice and as much dominance as the previous "Barry's." Too many short versions/medleys of premier songs that could have been done in their entirety. Enjoyed this show more in previous years/versions.

  • Good show

Good show. Sound was a little off. Keyboard player kept audience going.

  • Best part of Vegas vacation!

by Kitten on 9/25/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I saw them the last time I was in Vegas and it was the best part of my vacation. This time was even better. Great performance by a great band. Certainly a true tribute to The Bee Gees. Each member had their own special talent. They were very interactive with the audience and had us all up and dancing. I will certainly see them the next trip to Vegas! Thank you for a really fun night.

  • A fun reminder of the talented musicians of the past

by Freddy on 9/11/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

This was a fun evening. The venue was small enough that the worst seats were not far from the stage. The music was not great, but not bad either. For today's entertainment, the show was a real bargain.

  • Overall it was a wonderful time.

by Sergeant Dawn on 8/9/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Not a Bee Gees fan, went for my other half. Had a great time dancing! Was a little too short, staff got upset at her sitting in my lap, and they didn’t ask people to dance till the end, we were the only ones dancing before that. But a solid 4/5 for sure! Highly recommend!

  • Must see again! Great song choices! Super show!

by BillinElPaso on 6/12/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Thanks for not cutting Nights on Broadway! Liked the way the show was ‘compartmentalized’ into harmonic songs, etc. - better than One Night Only by original group. Perfect song choices and arrangements. Definitely a ‘must see’ and we will see again.

  • Very Good Show

by Mare64 on 6/8/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

The guys sang a wide variety of songs. They all resembled the original Bee Gees. People were dancing during the show. The personalities and voices were good but the only complaint was the Barry imitation. He couldn’t hit the high notes, but I didn’t expect him to be able to. Other than that I really enjoyed the show.

  • Fun

by BPWFMY on 2/20/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Really liked their medley of songs. The persona of Maurice and Barry were very good. The cast member portraying Robin had an excellent voice. I think they need to find an Andy Gibb look alike with the Gibb voice to match. All in all, a fun time. Happy to reminisce the Bee Gees era.

  • Good

Paying $399 third party for 2 people to be front row in a table it was so tight in between people , not this days of social distance. The show started ok and got better as they were performing I enjoy the last 40 minutes but the seating set up is awful needs a lot of improvement.I took my hubby big fan of Bee Gees.Thank you for the memories

  • Great time for Bee Gees fans

by Lovesagoodshow on 9/15/21Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This show was excellent. A perfect selection of Bee Gees greatest songs. Each of the voices was spot on and their personalities made the show fun. The quality of the sound in the room was really great and we were able to see the performers well which made the performance more intimate. Maurice got us up and dancing which was a nice element to the show. Anyone looking for a good show will find this one a good choice.

  • Exceptional

by Linda L on 9/9/21Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I enjoyed their performance! They did an exceptional job recreating the voices to make the songs come back alive. Made for a memorable evening. Thank you!

  • Meadows Casino 7/23/2021

by Lucky Lady on 8/14/21Rating: 3 out of 5

Concert was very entertaining. However, wondered how we could be seeing this group on the same day they were performing at the Excalibur in Vegas. During concert, they asked several times if anyone had seen them in Vegas. Never could find out which members of band performed at Meadows.

  • A bit disappointing

by Mike. B. on 6/20/21Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

I was hoping for more. The fellow who played Maurice Gibb was excellent. The fellow who played Barry Gibb (and who sang most of the leads) was almost unintelligible. The fellow who played Robin Gibb had a nice singing voice but zero personality. The show started slow, got better toward the end. My fiancée and I saw MJ Live the night before, and it was a vastly better show than this one. I certainly wouldn't see this show a second time, and my fiancée agrees 100%.

  • Memory Lane

by BG Viewer on 4/25/21Rating: 4 out of 5

I grew up listening to the Bee Gees but totally forgot how much they had been a part of my life until I watched this show. The performance was great and this group sounded as close to the original Bee Gees as you could get, and I wish the show was a little longer. Every song brought back memories and the disco songs got the whole theater going, Highly recommended for anybody that appreciates the Bee Gees or is curious about why they were so famous.

  • Good time! 4/2021

by KMA on 4/20/21Rating: 4 out of 5

I've always been a huge Bee Gees fan (actually of all 70's music). My boyfriend and I who our in our late 40's (there were people of all ages- late 20's-late 60's I would guess), thoroughly enjoyed the "characters", performance and music. Due to COVID, seating was spread out along the long tables. This created a much more intimate concert although the auditorium was smaller to begin with. It was nice to sit, spread out, and put your drinks on the table-They had a great full bar in the back. You had to wear your mask the entire time unless you were "actively" drinking. I'm bad with the names of the Bee Gee members (shame on me) but the lead singer on guitar and the guy on the keyboards were OUTSTANDING!! The guy in the middle (with no instrument and minimal vocals) left me wondering what his purpose in the show was-he didn't offer much other than to wave his hands around and add in a vocal part here and there. My only complaint is that they played way too many of their 60's songs. With all the hits they had in the 70's era I'm flabbergasted as to why they didn't completely focus the show on that? The concert went by super fast (about an hour and 15 minutes with no break in between). Be aware that when you walk in they want to take your picture at the door. I always walk right past these souvenir rip offs. However, after seeing the pictures and how they had superimposed the band in them, I wished I had posed for the picture. I think they were around $25. They had other typical souvenir things for sale after and we bought the CD for $15. I was hoping the band would be out there milling around for a few minutes but they weren't. If we go to Vegas again we would DEFINITELY see them again!!

  • The trio sings and amazingly looks like the Bee Gees group.

by Danny on 2/24/20Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Sang a lot of the hit songs throughout the years, very nostalgic. Enjoyed the audience participation in the dancing at the end. Brought back a lot of wonderful memories from the disco era.
