The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) on Tour

With the untimely passings of Maurice Gibb in 2003 and his brother Robin in 2012, the original Bee Gees are sadly no more. But you can still experience all of the group's biggest hits — from their breakthrough ‘60s pop ballads to their ‘70s disco classics to their ‘90s comeback anthems — in concert, thanks to this expert tribute act hailing from the Gibbs' home continent. Not only do the Australian Bee Gees sound just like their idols, they look a lot like them too: guitarist Michael Clift sports positively Barry-esque mane, facial hair and (thanks to dental prosthetics) teeth; keyboardist Wayne Hosking does Maurice proud with a fedora and tidy beard; and vocalist David Scott is a dead ringer for Robin in his shaded specs. The house band at Las Vegas' Excalibur Hotel and Casino, The Australian Bee Gees ensure that any day of the week is ripe for Saturday-night fever.

The Australian Bee Gees (Vegas) Background

While they've ably filled the void left by the brothers Gibb, the roots of the Australian Bee Gees date back to when the actual Bee Gees were still active. After playing their own original music — and noticing the crowds being pulled by the tribute acts they sometimes played with — the trio of Michael Clift, Wayne Hosking and David Scott decided to switch lanes in 1996 and become "Barry," "Maurice" and "Robin" in a tribute act they dubbed The Australian Bee Gees. While the Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever hits anchored the set list, the ABGs approached their show with a true connoisseur's eye to the band's deep back catalog, giving equal weight to the group's many pre-disco singles. Once the ABGs landed in Vegas in 2011 for an indefinite run, the performance evolved into a multimedia experience complete with videos, costume changes, choreography and period-specific sets. The show has also spawned an international touring production that's visited over 50 countries.

    Don't Go!

by BeeGeesFan on 4/11/23Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

I saw this act in Vegas. I didn’t recognize any of the musicians from the show I saw. I could barely hear the vocals and the stage presentation of lights and photos and dancing were really boring. I didn’t hate it enough to ask for my money back, but I would not go again or recommend it to others. It was my friends birthday present, so I bought three tickets to the show and, sadly, I feel more than a little let down.

    Fun

by Paul on 4/11/23Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

It was a lot of fun to have been at the concert. The sound was good the lead singer needs more practice to sign highs like the real Bee Gee but all in all it was a great concert. I would recommend someone to go and see them.

The show was perfect, many beautiful moments

by Nicole Brochu on 4/9/23CABARET DU CASINO DE MONTREAL - Montreal

We were in the last row. The last 4-5 rows are at the same levels so no slope towards the stage. The people in the 4-5 rows in front of us were hiding the show, so we were standing the whole show. I would say the last rows should not be sold. Even the people in the row in front of us were getting up, so we had no choice but to get up. This is really a negative point for me. Next time if it's just the last 4-5 rows left, I won't book a ticket.

Nice group but terrible singers .

by Diana on 4/8/23CABARET DU CASINO DE MONTREAL - Montreal

I was so looking forward to the show and didn’t expect them to sound like the actual group but I felt I was at an amateur Karaoke. Barry was the worse. Off key and just am around not a good singer . 30% of the songs wer okay

    Entertaining but vocals need improvement

by BigG on 4/8/23CABARET DU CASINO DE MONTREAL - Montreal

Very entertaining show had a great time don't get me wrong. But, id you're going to be a Bee Gees tribute band be sure you can hit the high notes! Many of our favorite songs were missing because Barry couldn't hit those highs. That said we had a good time.

A fun evening of great songs from the Bee Gee's

by Beth on 3/19/23Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

Ticketing, ushering into our seats and drinks were splendid and well organized. The music began with some very showy tunes from the Bee Gee's. However, the sound person was not on his/her game and so the balance of instruments and voices were not there, thus making the opening numbers rather bland. Lead singer and his guitar could not be heard and he continuously gave the sign to make his microphone and instrument louder. Then the sound person over compensated with the lead singer too loud. However, the musicians did a fine job and this could have been a 5-star review. The bass player and drummer were spot-on, keeping the music going with their rhythm section. The jokes were fun, the dance floor was a great idea and got everyone up and moving., Overall, a good show with good musicians that deserve a sound engineer that was awake and ready to work.

    Underwhelming

by Dan on 2/6/23Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

The theatre was unattractive, the seats were uncomfortable, the sound was difficult to hear, and the performers were mediocre. The artist who portrayed Maurice was believable, Robin sang the slow songs well, but Barry (the focal point of the band) was not up to the task, and the Harmonies that epitomize the BeeGees were less than stellar. Grade: C-

    Too Much Reverb

by Soundman on 11/23/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

I am myself a sound engineer and musician. The band was awesome. I have just two recommendations - 1). There was way too much reverb on the voices (not enough cowbell as well, sorry, just had to say that), and 2) people sat at the front can only hear the drums clearly because the PA speakers are not facing them. You need localised sound for the people that are not directly in the line of the main PA arrays.

Not as good as previous "cast"

by L. C. on 10/12/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

"Barry" didn't have as strong a voice and as much dominance as the previous "Barry's." Too many short versions/medleys of premier songs that could have been done in their entirety. Enjoyed this show more in previous years/versions.

    Best part of Vegas vacation!

by Kitten on 9/25/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

I saw them the last time I was in Vegas and it was the best part of my vacation. This time was even better. Great performance by a great band. Certainly a true tribute to The Bee Gees. Each member had their own special talent. They were very interactive with the audience and had us all up and dancing. I will certainly see them the next trip to Vegas! Thank you for a really fun night.

A fun reminder of the talented musicians of the past

by Freddy on 9/11/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

This was a fun evening. The venue was small enough that the worst seats were not far from the stage. The music was not great, but not bad either. For today's entertainment, the show was a real bargain.

Overall it was a wonderful time.

by William on 8/9/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

Not a Bee Gees fan, went for my other half. Had a great time dancing! Was a little too short, staff got upset at her sitting in my lap, and they didn’t ask people to dance till the end, we were the only ones dancing before that. But a solid 4/5 for sure! Highly recommend!

Must see again! Great song choices! Super show!

by BillinElPaso on 6/12/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

Thanks for not cutting Nights on Broadway! Liked the way the show was ‘compartmentalized’ into harmonic songs, etc. - better than One Night Only by original group. Perfect song choices and arrangements. Definitely a ‘must see’ and we will see again.

    Very Good Show

by M. K. on 6/8/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

The guys sang a wide variety of songs. They all resembled the original Bee Gees. People were dancing during the show. The personalities and voices were good but the only complaint was the Barry imitation. He couldn’t hit the high notes, but I didn’t expect him to be able to. Other than that I really enjoyed the show.

    Fun

by Bpwfmy on 2/20/22Thunderland Showroom at Excalibur - Las Vegas

Really liked their medley of songs. The persona of Maurice and Barry were very good. The cast member portraying Robin had an excellent voice. I think they need to find an Andy Gibb look alike with the Gibb voice to match. All in all, a fun time. Happy to reminisce the Bee Gees era.
