  • Excellent as usual!

    by ledman95 on 7/13/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show. As usual, the Allmans were in top form. The sound was perfect and their music still kicks ass 40 years later! Gregs vocals were outstanding and of course, Warren and Derek dual leads rocked the Greek. Thanks for the great, memorable show!

  • Allman Bros. and Doobie Bros. were awesome!

by BigDen on 7/13/09Harrah's Rincon Casino - Open Sky Theater - Valley CenterRating: 4 out of 5

Other than the long wait to open the venue doors (which took forever!). Seats were great - in fact there isn't a bad seat anywhere in the place! So for all of you to know - Harrah's Rincon Casino outdoor venue is the place to see a concert in the north-east counties! My seats were on the floor, and I loved how "laid back" every thing there was - I was able at will to walk to the front of the stage area to take photos ( I was not hindered or had anyone tell me I can't, or shouldn't be there). On the bands: Doobie Brothers were in great form. Their sets were especially tight, and voices in fine form. I truly loved the order of " All Time Hits" they played - one after another, and it just kept getting better. This was made easy due to the Doobie's illustrious career, and string of hit albums, and singles throughout the years as number 1. At first, I must say - I was surprised that they were second bill! Allman Brothers band was equally as good. I loved how they jammed in the middle of each one of their songs. I did like the tribute to Duane, although the music of that era in the band's history was NOT the hit making one of the later Allman Bros.. My favortie part came in the second part of the set. This is when they played most of the songs I had come to hear - and they did jam heavily and triumpantly. Most of the audience was on their feet for the majority of the second part of the set as well! All in all - despite the long drive down to San Diego area from Santa Clarita, the entire experience was well worth the journey!

  • Allman Brothers Band still Rules

by Gilby on 7/13/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

The Allman Brothers Band still rock one of the best live shows going today. Great vocals, Great jams, great songs and the best performances.

  • Older than dirt. . . .and what a sweet vintage!

by JumpinJackJesus on 7/13/09Harrah's Rincon Casino - Open Sky Theater - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

The Doobies rocked harder than ever before. The low end coming off Skylarks's bass thumped my chest like a percussive jack hammer. They still got it. As far as the ABB. . .what more can you say: Dueling slide work between Derek and Warren, insane. Drums of Fury. . .off the hook. And lets not forget about the main man, Gregg Allman. Almost dead, but you could never tell. Sweet and soulful. The best show of 2009, so far.

  • ABB pulls out all the stops

by Dommo on 7/13/09Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Talk about riveting performance. Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, two of the best guitarists performing today, complement each other perfectly--the wailing solos, beautiful harmonies, it was fantastic to see these two legends-in-the-making play off eachtoher's ideas. The rhythm section, which included three (count them three!!) drummers with each having their own drum set, held down solid beats and took old songs to new levels! GO SEE THEM when they come to your town. two full sets, over 3 hours of awesomeness.

  • OUTDOOR CONCERT AB AND DB

WAY TOO COLD OUTSIDE. MOST OF US FROZE. THE BAND INSTRUMENTS WERE SO LOUD YOU COULDN'T HEAR THE WORDS. LOVED THE DOOBIE BROTHERS BEST!

  • Allmans and Doobies Rock'n Blues

by Thunderball on 7/13/09Harrah's Rincon Casino - Open Sky Theater - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

An incredibe show from the first stroke to the last. I cannot say enough about this version of the Allman Brothers, they are a very tight and cohesive unit cranking out the old and new. From Greg on the keyboards, the amazing rythems, solid pounding bass, and out of this world guitarists this band is worth traveling to see. I am seriously considering a trip to Red Rock and Aspen late this summer! Rincon is a great venue, small enough to be considered an intimate show.

  • An awesome night

    by Misa55 on 7/13/09Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time I'd seen the Allmans in almost 15 years and they were just amazing. Gregg sounds as good as ever and between the unbelievable Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, I didn't even notice Dickey Betts wasn't there (which in itself is amazing). The Fox is a beautiful theater and I will definitely return. I only wish I would have gone to see them both nights! (I heard I missed Melissa.) Next time they're in town I'll go every night for sure.

  • Doobie Bros. Rocked the House

by SissyLaLa on 7/13/09Harrah's Rincon Casino - Open Sky Theater - Valley CenterRating: 5 out of 5

These are 2 of my all time favorite groups. Doobie Bros. played many highly anticipated songs for the crowd, however I am waiting patiently for their new release which one particular song called *The Chateau* just had that good ol jammin feeling. It rocked the house!

  • Doobie & Allman Bros gave a great concert

by Silverstranders on 7/13/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I have been to many concerts in our lives (far too many to count) and we were shocked that this one actually started on time! The Doobie Brothers were fantastic and were a great start for the Allman Brothers, who started out with a bang and kept the energy going throughout the entire evening. Greg Allman is as good today as he was 40 years ago. We're looking forward to seeing them again.

  • 2 classic bands

by Ray5 on 7/13/09Harrah's Rincon Casino - Open Sky Theater - Valley CenterRating: 4 out of 5

Good blend of old & new material; however, as is the case with most concerts that appeal to younger audiences, the sound level was much to high. Mature audiences (like this one) don't require this level to enjoy the music. The booming bass completely drowned out much of the other instruments - not to mention the vocals. Wearing ear protection only makes things worse, since the low frequencies are more penetrating, causing the bass to dominate the piece. It almost seems that the sound technicians are partially deaf !!

  • Allman Bros were GREAT!

    by kb21 on 7/13/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, especially when Bruce Willis jammed on the harmonica and Tom Petty jammed for a few songs too.

  • Doobie Brs - were great! Allman Br- disappointing

Venues is great! Sounds Great! Doobie Brothers were awesome! Allman Borthers were playng for themselves not for the audience. They played too much new stuff and not nearly enough of the old but goodies!

  • Allman Brothers at the Fox

by Caluch on 7/12/09Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

The band was Great , the songs seemed to go on for ever, too streched out, not much singing, the Sound at the Fox is distorted in balcony, had a railing in our face Great!
