  • Widespread/ ABB :one set each ?

by Thurman15 on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 3 out of 5

I was expecting two sets from at least one of these bands. Both bands rocked but I was surprised to see one setters from both bands. Maybe that's they way it's been on this tour, I haven't looked for setlists from past shows. Nice Franklin's from ABB.

  • Allman's + Bethel Woods = Sweet Times!

by Audgie on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent outdoor venue to catch a memorable band like the Allman Brothers perform! I could see everything on stage from section 100 & out on the lawn where we moved to dance & to enjoy the stars shining bright above on a misting summer night. Beautiful.

  • The Brothers . . . need I say more

by BeatlesSpong on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

The Allman Brothers Band has been a staple of the live music world for forty years. The audience at Bethel Woods saw an absolutely amazing show. They came out swinging with the rarely played "Don't Keep Me Wondering". The entire show was dedicated to sadly late, exceptionally great Duane Allman. Had Duane seen the show he would have been proud. A huge highlight of the night was the unforgettable rendition of The Grateful Dead tune "Franklin's Tower". I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the familiar chord progression. Unnfortunately all good things must come to an end. After the Allmans played a scorching "You Don't Love Me", everybody knew it was sadly time to go. It still served as an amazing end to an amazing night!

  • Allman Bros 40th anniversary tour

by BMWAssist on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

These guys just get better and better. Gregg was in fine tune, playing guitar for the encore "Sweet Melissa" and then brought down the house with "One Way Out". A great tribute to Duanne Allman and Berry Oakley.

  • At 52 Possibly the best concert of my life

by oldhippsterscouple on 8/26/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing performance by two very tallented bands. After the opening act we thought that the allman bros couldnt top the show, and then they came out and totally wowed us... I do not think I have ever seen as talented a group of guitarists in my life, ever, nor will i ever see the like of this again. for four and one half hours, time stopped, and we went to another place musically. members of both bands guested with the other bands, supplying wonderfully different textures to both groups music.

  • Southern Rock Odyssey

by PanicFan79 on 8/26/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 4 out of 5

Wide Spread Panic killed it, panic with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks was beyond all expectations. Allman Brothers were outstanding, great jams and killer light show. Overall excellent concert, four full hours of music and could have been four more.

They and Wide Spread Panic combined for almost 5 hours of music. If you like southern rock guitars these bands are for you. They didn't mess up good music with a lot of singing. Great

The show was absolutely amazing, I didn't stop dancing! 5 hours long and worth the 5 hour drive to go see the show! The police presence in the lot was a little over the top, however.

  • The Allman Brothers and Widespread Panic Show

by Helga2 on 8/24/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was one of the best I may have ever attended! I have seen the Allman Brothers Band many times in various locations, ie.: CMAC, Saratoga Springs, Darien Lakes, The New York State Fair and I have to say that this show was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Gregg Allman seemed to me to have a great, strong voice and was just belting out the vocals and of course Derrick Trucks and Warren Haines were at the top of their game as usual!! I actually just went to see Government Mule in Rochester for the last free party in the park for the summer! He rocked the house!! It was an excellent show as well. I saw The Derrick Trucks Band the first time at Milestones on East Ave in Rochester about 6 years ago and then again this past January-February at Waterstreet in Rochester, New York. I have to say that it may be only my opinion, but I think that Derrick Trucks is one of the best, if not THE BEST guitarists on the planet. I am mezmerized just watching him play. I was actually looking forward to seeing Dickey Betts in Rochester again this year for the free Party in the Park, but he cancelled not once but twice at the last minute!! Dickey Betts is also a great entertainer with awesome music and always puts on a great show! Too bad he cancelled this year! Now, I have to say that I had not heard of Widespread Panic before but I can guaranty you, I would most definitely go see their show again!! They rocked the house!!! Not only is their music great, but they just get up there and JAM!! Both Derrick Trucks and Warren Haines got up and played with Widespread Panic while they had the stage and it was awesome to see 4 of the greatest guitarists ever on stage jamming together!! Also, members of Widespread Panic got up on stage with the Allman Brothers Band when they had the stage as well......it was smashing!!!! The concert did not end until the Allman Brothers Band walked off the stage at just after midnight!!! This was the best show EVER!!!!!!!!!

  • Brothers and Widespread were incredible together

by tinabp on 8/24/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 5 out of 5

Widespread opened up for 2 hours - playing all the favorites plus some new songs, they were tight but jammed quite a bit, then during the last 45 minutes of their set Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes came out and jammed with WP - it was incredible. Trucks definetetly stole the rest of the show although Warren was definetely on top of his game. Two great guitar legends on one stage with other amazing musicians equaled a perfect night under the stars.

  • Magic in The Finger Lakes

by Ozzy1 on 8/24/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 5 out of 5

There was magic in the air in Canandaigua on Saturday night for the Allman Widespread show. Over four hours of awesome music, a great crowd, and perfect weather. It does not get any better than that. This is the best two band show on the road period!

  • Allmans came in a close second!

by IthacaBill on 8/24/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 5 out of 5

An outstanding performance was made by the Allman Brothers Band on Saturday night, however, the opening act gets my highest praise! Widespread Panic delivered one of the best sets of music I've seen in a long time. From their energy level all the way through song selection they were on top all night. The crown jewel was the Chilly Water featuring the 3-Headed Monster (Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and Widespread's own Jimmy Herring) to close the set in the most thunderous fashion! The Allmans played second and and were nothing less than blistering. With a couple of suprise guests from Widespread Panic they were at the top of their game. Happy Birthday to the Allmans!

  • Ultraviolet!

Bring your sunscreen, ABB and WSP are combining for a ultra high-energy show. Having seen ABB several times and WSP at roo 07, I was expecting some sic jamming but I was not expecting all the sit ins. WSP put ABB on notice with their opening set and Derek, Marc and Warren stepped up and in by joining them for several songs. WSP played for 2 hours and this old man was ready for the oxygen tent. After a short brake, ABB burst out of the gates and upped the bar again for a 2 hour plus show. WOW! This was one blistering show and just to take it to levels rarely witnessed, members of WSP stepped in and made for one of the best ABB shows I've ever seen. The show ends with Southbound and 11 musicians on stage!! Did I say WOW!! WSP: Good People > Flicker, Papa Johnny Road, I'm Not Alone > Pigeons, Her Dance Needs Nobody > Jack, Bust It Big* > Jam* > Gimme* > Pleas, Surprise Valley** > Pilgrims, Chilly Water*** ABB: Hot 'Lanta, Done Somebody Wrong, Midnight Rider > Rocking Horse, Desdemona, Ain't Wastin' Time No More, It Takes A Lot To Laugh It Takes A Train To Cry****, You Don't Love Me*****, Melissa, Black Hearted Woman, And It Stoned Me******, In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed******* > JaBuMa E: Southbound******** * with Derek Trucks on guitar ** with Warren Haynes on guitar, Marc Quinones on percussion *** with Derek Trucks on guitar, Warren Haynes on guitar **** with John 'Jojo' Herman on keyboard ***** with John 'Jojo Herman on keyboard, Dave Schools on bass, Chuck Campbell on pedal steel ****** with John Bell on guitar, James Van De Bogert on drums ******* with Jimmy Herring on guitar ******** with John 'Jojo' Herman on keyboards, Todd Nance on drums, Jimmy Herring on guitar, Chuck Campbell on pedal steel

  • Allman Brothers was forgettable

I only recognized 3 songs the whole night . The rest of the concert was just one long jam session.
