by TimDous on 8/28/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

Widespread played a very long opening set which never got boring and the rain came as the Allman brothers were playing but they played very well. Great bands, great venue.

  • Bethel Woods

by skypilot1988 on 8/28/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

This band is one of my all time favorites and rarely if ever have they let me down. Every concert I have attended has left me with a renewed understanding of one of the band's mottoes: hittin' the note. This concert was no exception with some sizzling versions of 44 Blues, Highway 61 and other favorites that evolve and grow as they are presented on stage. There are no phonies here just a bunch of exceptionally talented musicians who are in the constant quest for a musical plane of nirvana. Leave all your costumed, prancing leotard make up and special effects requests at the gate cause you are going to see a show where all that matters is the music. Thank you guys for helping to preserve and develop something that is near and dear to our hearts.

  • Allman Brothers Band nothing special

by mamacita2960 on 8/28/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 3 out of 5

I hadnt seen Allman Brothers Band before. My husband is a big fan. I wasn't impressed. The music was kind of boring. There wasnt much singing and when there was it wasnt that good. We had lawn seats,so of course you always have people standing so you dont see much of the band. I am glad I went just to say I saw them but I wouldnt go again. My Husband would. It also rained on us and got cold. But that was ok. Just wish there was more rock.

  • Wide Spread Panic & Allman Brothers Rock!

by lkreu on 8/28/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent concert. Allman Brother's still rock. It was the first time I saw Wide Spread Panic and totally loved them.

  • Good jam session

by ALCo on 8/28/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 4 out of 5

I was hoping for the oldies to come out but the only oldie was Gregg Allman. Looking frail but still has a great voice. I was expecting more Allman Brothers but was listening to a lot of unknown music to me. It was a good jam though. They were off a bit too. I guess that's what I get for waiting 40 yrs to see them. I almost enjoyed Widespread Panic more.

  • 40th Anniversary Tour

by bluesdaddy49 on 8/28/09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - CanandaiguaRating: 5 out of 5

CMAC was on fire as WSP opened the show with several extended jams propelled by Jimmy Herring's Dregslike guitar stylings with bassmaster extraordinaire Dave Schools holding court on the bottom end. Panic was joined by both Derek and Warren to round out their set. After ABB took the stage, Panic keyboardist JoJo Hermann sat in on Bob Dylan's "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry" and stayed for the remainder of the show, complimenting Greg Allman's Hammond B-3. WSP lead singer John Bell channeled Van Morrison's "And It Stoned Me" and Chuck Campbell fired up the pedal steel on "You Don't Love Me". "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" was taken to another level with Herring, Trucks and Haynes on overdrive. Encore began with an acoustic version of "Preachin Blues" after which everyone jumped up on stage for a blistering rendition of "Southbound" which brought down the house.

  • What a Jam!!!

by Kirby5 on 8/28/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 4 out of 5

The Allman Brotheres Band was better than I thought they would be. Having Derek Trucks on slide was incredible. I am not a Warren fan, having seen him try to play with the Dead, but I thought his jamming with Trucks AND Bell from Panic was beyond my expectations. A very unforgetable Jessica I felt. Gregg didn't disappoint by pulling out Mellissa for an acoustic tune. Both WSP abd ABB did a rockin' Highway 61. Having rained with WSP on stage, it didn't dampen the event at all. They-both bands- will enjoy this tour!!

  • Rockin' with the Bros

by Stream on 8/28/09Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

The Allman Brothers are always great. I really love Derek Trucks on guitar, he must be Dwayne reincarnated. Greg is still HOT!! Warren is unbelieveable. Always a pleasure to see PROS at play. The Doobi e Brothers were amazing. They really got the place humming. They played a great set of dance music that just made you feel good. I really had a blast. The Greek Theatre rocks, what a great place to enjoy a concert. Thanks, Stream Dog

  • Allmans/Widespread Panic Jam at Bethel Woods

by PeaSoup on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

The Allman Brothers Band & Widespread Panic concert at Bethel Woods on August 26, 2009 was downright inspirational, a near-religious out-of-body experience without the assistance of chemicals. Worshipped at the ABB altar several times in the early 70s, and the Brothers are still doing it like no one else after 40 years - great grooves, musical virtuosity, soulful writing. What's not to like? Liked 'em then, love 'em now! This was my first time seeing WP live. They were rock solid and tight, accomplished musicians, and very impressive overall. Too bad I waited so long to catch them in person. 5+ hours of incredible music from two of the world's premier jam bands for the $90 price of 4 lawn seats. (OK, so it did rain through WPs 2 hour opening set.) Such a deal!

  • Great Night!

by SnoozyR on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 4 out of 5

It was great hearing Sweet Melissa and Jessica, although l I was kind of disappointed they didn't play Ramblin Man, Statesboro Blues, Ain't wasting time No More, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, etc.

  • Allman Brothers in the Rain

by Nurseman927 on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, first time seeing Wide Spread, 30th for the Brothers. Great show. Highway 69 blew me away. Seeing Greg on Mellissa made me feel old. He is getting up there, get out and see the Brothers when you get a chance. Ive never been disappointed

  • Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic is it

by CharlieTaber on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

Arguably the best ticket on the scene this summer.

  • Allman Brothers

by wattaday on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 4 out of 5

Besides the rain drizzle for the field attendees, the concert was on continuos jam with great lead guitar. Dissapointed that the AB did not play more of their classics and really could have done a better encore. But, hey, they were fantastic.

  • Panic & Allmans burn down Bethel Woods!!!!

by Wntifmdj on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 5 out of 5

Widespead Panic and the Allman Brothers band were so hot they scorched the earth at Bethel Woods last night! Panic, fueled by the magic of Jimmy Herring's guitar, played a high energy opening set that made the lawn listeners forget about the light rain. Danny Louis and Warren Haynes from Gov't Mule sat in with them and kicked the energy up a few more notches. Then the Allman Brothers Band took the stage and you could feel the electricity in the air. On tour celebrating their fortieth anniversary, they were clearly excited to be playing at Bethel Woods forty years after Woodstock. It was also the nine year anniversary of the death of Allen Woody, former bass player for The Allman Brothers & Gov't Mule, and in homage they played their hearts out for him on "Nobody Left To Run With Anymore." During the song they filled the screen behind them with video clips of Woody, Duane and Berry Oakley, and as I watched and listened it seemed as if their fallen comrades were on stage performing with them live once more!!! It was a musically magical evening in the enchanted forest of Bethel Woods!

  • Allman Brothers worse show even seen

by enaj on 8/27/09Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - BethelRating: 1 out of 5

Was this the Allman Brothers or Derek Truck show???? Come on, Derek just got in everyones face too many times. The music was different and not what everyone remembers of the band, a big waste of my time to go.
