The brothers never disappoint.... The first set was a collection of hits, not much jamming, and a LOT of Gregg singing. I counted 13 songs sung by him, which is more than usual. The second set was a real treat with a beatles cover (Rain), a classic Dreams with Warren kicking ass and taking names, a Jessica rendition I won't soon forget, and a classic Whipping Post encore that left us wanting more.

allman brothers
by mrrey on 3/18/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Excellent show but sometimes the guitars drowned out the horn section. But Beacon is still my choice to see any show
ABB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by JoeB89 on 3/18/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5What and unbelievable show the Allman's pulled out all of the stops Trucks is God Warren is a music machine and Greg still has it!
Excellent as usual!
by Debozzy68 on 3/17/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5The Allman Bros always put on a great show. This was my first time seeing them at The Beacon. I don't know why I waited so long!!!!! The Beacon is my favorite venue for shows like this. The band was really tight and sounded great.
Best ABB show in years
by RNRJUNK on 3/17/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5I usually see 3 ABB shows a year and this was one of the better shows they put on in a few years if you like more traditional ABB tunes. Greg was signing most of the night and Warren performed above and beyond on his lead guitar runs. Te only thing missing was a surprise visit from Dickey. Maybe the last night at the Beacon will be one to remember
Don't bother
by Behillionoid on 3/17/14B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5It was rather disappointing. First, they started late. Second, and more importantly, the "Very Special Friends" may have been special to Trucks, but I had never heard of them (except Oteil on bass and Marc Quinones on percussion). BTW, when Trucks was introducing the players, he didn't even know the guitarist's name, so he couldn't have THAT special of a friend. The singer was rather mediocre. We heard a guy singing in the subway station that could sing circles around this guy.
Disappointed
by cliffk814 on 3/17/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5The musicians were excellent but the set list they played was terrible. Most people go to see a band for the reason that they want to hear all of the band's hit songs. Half of the songs played I never heard and they just kept going back and forth with lead guitar solos, which got boring after a while. They came on 1/2 hr late, played some lesser and unknown songs for 1 hr 15 min, took a break, then came back and played Melissa and Blue Sky, which got a standing ovation, then went back to more unknowns. Did 1 encore lackluster rendition of One way out and were done. Overall Except for Melissa and Blue Sky, I was bored.

um...what?
by doctoraiko on 3/17/14B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5The show was okay. Not as amazing as hoped for but so it goes. The place is awful. Typical overpriced craptastic nonsense.
Best Band in the World.
by Bambingo on 3/17/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Two best guitarists in the world, the 4 man back beat and the old man singing. Add in the beacon, and its magical. Still don't know why they just can't come back for the Beacon run once a year. Is that too much to ask?
Last stand at the Beacon
by KenD on 3/15/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5never saw the Allman Brothers back in the day with their original lineup. Then for many years I didn't go see them at their annual Beacon Theatre residency because it wasn't their original lineup, and what was the point? In 2009 I finally broke down and went, and have been seeing them every year ever since. This year's show may have been the last time around, as guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks have announced that they will be leaving the band at the end of 2014. The set the brothers played on 3/12 was in some ways typical. It featured its share of old time crowd pleasers: "Midnight Rider", "You Don't' Love Me", "Hot 'Lanta", "Statesboro Blues", and "Trouble No More". But the song choices are in many ways secondary to what the Allman Brothers are about. They are about a deep feeling for the blues. They are about an amazing rhythm section with Oteil Burbridge on bass and the three-headed drum monster of Jaimoe, Butch Trucks and Marc Quinones. But most of all they are about the amazing guitar interplay of Haynes and Trucks. Trucks in particular is one of greatest guitarists in the world, whose every solo seems like an amazing story being told to you by a master. Gregg Allman himself is still holding down the organ (God bless the Hammond B3!) and his share of the lead vocals. I've never seen a lead singer miss as many cues as Gregg does, including 3 on the first two songs at the 3/12 show. Still, his voice has held up, and in fact seems better than it was a few years ago. Over the last several years the band has added the Jukes Horns for part of each show at the Beacon. They are terrific players who add a new texture to the sound. They really shone on Dylan's "Blind Willie McTell" and Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic". To me, the highlight of the evening was the 25-minute set closer, an inspired medley of Jimi Hendrix's "1983" and the band's own "Mountain Jam." It will be interesting to see if the Allmans choose to carry on with new guitarists or decide to hang it up after this year. Either way, March on upper Broadway will never be the same.
Last year at the Beacon for Gregg and band
by Cunns on 3/15/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5One of the best shows in the last 12 years that I have been going!
One Last Time
by SkydogFan on 3/15/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5To hardcore ABB fans, this was one for the memories. The kicked in w 4 old classics: Midnight Rider, You Don't Love Me, Leave My Blues at Home, and Hot 'Lanta. Gregg was on it. You could only listen and watch with respect and amazement for all this man has been through and how he continues to sing the blues w reverence and depth. It was very Fillmore Live like, and Derek and Warren we finding their comfort zone w each other, and the band behind them with their trademark kick-a** powerful polyrhythmic support. The remainder of the first set varied from Egypt to Soulshine - songs that have been go to songs in the last decade - and the Juke horns joined them for the final 4 songs of the set. The second set opened w Statesboro Blues, and again there was the Fillmore Live vibe going. Then they did a tremendously moving rendition of Into the Mystic, and Warren was amazing on the vocals, with the Juke horns back to add just that much more soul. After Who to Believe and Don't Keep Me Wondering, the band began and explorative tribute to Jimi, playing 1983 (A Merman I Should Be). It was perfect. With Jimi images on the big screen, Derek and Warren put their own stamp on the song, not sounding anything Hendrix-like, but wholly in the Jimi spirit. When they segued into Mountain Jam, it was the beginning of the end. They jammed it every bit they could, however instead of extended drum and bass solos, they reprised Hendrix in the middle before bringing back home to the Mountain. With the encore of Southbound (guitarist Eric Krasno joining with superb trade off licks), the concert ended as another ABB concert for the record - spontaneous, mighty, tastily ferocious, and full of energy channelled from the bluesmen of yore.
Best ABB show ever!
by AlleyCat145 on 3/15/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5The addition of the Juke Horns helped accentuate some of the best music this band has ever produced. Great song selection and the guitar solos by Warren and Derek were completely awesome. Its a shame to see them both leave the band at the end of this tour. Very happy I was able to attend this historic event.
The Allman Brothers Band
by sisterlucille on 3/15/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Amazing...from the opening tune Midnight Rider to the encore Southbound. Butch not feeling well and drumming in and out....I was just happy that I got to hear him in various sets. I have seen the ABB at the Beacon for years and years now and I have never been disappointed with the acoustics. The Allmans are like magic and they will be sorely missed in the month of March in NYC.
Going out on top!!
by RL2010 on 3/15/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5I've been attending Beacon runs since they began in 1989, half my life. When i heard that the Brothers current line-up would be breaking up, besides being upset at the fact that propbably the 2 greatest living guitarists, which I had in one spot(!) would no longer be on stage with one of my favorite bands, I was worried that they might mail it in knowing that it was the end...... Well it couldnt have been farther from the truth!!! They were the same tight band, putting on the 3 hour shows I was used to. Greggs voice was in shape and the band sounded as good as they did in 1989 when I first heard them.
Great show as usual!
by ChicoNYC on 3/15/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Classic ABB with the Juke Horns and Eric Krasno. A little Hendrix and Van Morrison in the mix made it interesting. I will really miss this band. Catch them while you can!
Beacon Run March 11 Allman Brothers
by Pukini on 3/14/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Fantastic show. A GEM. Each song was flawless. Gregg's voice was best in long time. What can you say about Derek and Warren, and the rest of the band. Butch Trucks was not there due to an illness that night. Drums were shared by Jaimoe, Marc, Bobby Allende and Duane Trucks. I wish this wasn't the end of the Allman Brothers runs at the Beacon Theatre since this was something to look forward to every year. I still have one more show to go to...Hope it is as good as this one was. The audience at the Beacon, especially for the Allman Brothers is special. You can tell everyone is totally into every note. There is very little, if any, Hootin and Hollarin heard at some concerts, especially in the south. I am amazed that when a song is over there is reaction from the crowd, then as the song comes on everyone is silent, even during low volume pieces of songs. THANKS to all. I hate when people make stupid noise when there is a low part to a song, because these times are as important and the Very loud parts to hear. GREAT SHOW....
Disappointed
by Pixie111 on 3/14/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5Not enough gregg allman. Too many guitar duos all sounding alike. Very disappointed. Left before concert was over
