  • Allman Brothers Remain Vital

by allbrosfan on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Allman Brothers truly understand the fusion of rock, blues, jazz, gospel, and country into their own sound. No prancing around the stage just straight ahead music. The duo of Warren Haynes and Derrick Trucks is amazing. They truly are two of the greatest guitarists in the world today. Brother Gregg Allman remains a brilliant bluesman. Oteil Burbridge on the bass constantly chases the melody and pushes the guitarists to new heights. The whole band plays with passion. This is an act that has celebrated 40-years of music that is meaningful because of their musicianship and willingness to constantly reinvent the way they do their wonderful catalog of songs.

  • allman brothers at red rocks

by baileycamper on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

When we saw them last year at red rocks, Greg was recuperating from Hepatitis therapy. Not so good of a concert. This year MUCH better. Really enjoyed the concert and the weather was perfect.

  • The Allman Brothers were better than ever!

by homiechick on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen the Allman Brothers many times over the years, beginning in the late 70's. This event was one of the best I have seen them perform! The addition of Warren Hanes and Derek Trucks to the band added a powerhouse that was unbelievable! Some singers suffer voice issues over the years, but Greg Allman's voice and performance were incredible! The show remained high energy from beginning to end, leaving the audience awed and wanting more. They played for appx. 3 hrs., and even had the lead singer from the opening band, "Railroad Earth" perform with them on the Fiddle. Also joining them on stage was whom I believe to be Derek Truck's wife, Susan, who entertained us with her powerful blues voice and guitar! It was a beautiful night with close to a full moon over Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, CO! There was a lot of talent on stage last night, and this was a performance I won't soon forget!!

  • Allmans Mind Blowing Performance

by henlus on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

For any musicians out there or just lovers of great talent the Red Rocks show last night was fabulous. They put on a clinic on how to play instruments. The guiter playing was unbelievable , Warren and Derrick are two of the best I have ever heard. The drum set was remarkable to say the least and Greg was superb ! Susan did a couple of numbers with the band and she was a force, not only does she have a great voice but she can play guitar with the best. One of the best shows I have ever seen and I've seen a few. P.S. The opening band was excellent as well, they played blue grass type music but they had a drummer which added a new dimension to the sound.

  • Allman's rocked my socks off!

by Sistergoldenhairsurprise on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

My first Allman Brothers show was everything I could have asked for. The set list was decent and the guys rocked out. Warren and Derek are guitar gods! Warren had some amazing solo's and Derek's were pretty awesome too. The drum solo was sweet, but not mind blowing. Greg also sounded pretty good. My only complaint is the overcrowding at Red Rocks. The GA and reserved sections were set up different than usual, which resulted in a massive amount of people trying to get into GA. The folks who thought that they needed a 4 foot bubble around them to see a show didn't help either. Come on guys! Scoot a little closer to your neighbor and let more people see the show. The Red Rocks staff could also have helped with the problem if they wanted to. Instead of using those flashlights to get people out of the isle, how about you use them to direct people to move to the center of their row so the people left in the isle can have a seat. Just a thought.... Overall, the show was great. Wish I could see them in Aspen tonight!

  • Allman Bros are great

Great concert. Too few ticket agents at gates. Crowd backed up. Long lines to get in. Stupid.

  • Allmans/Railroad Earth

by kylebasa on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

Show was awesome. I've seen Allmans the last three years in a row and was thouroughly impressed again. RRE was also very good, although they were a little long, I would wish for two sets by the Allmans

  • Bros Smoke

by Swordfish on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Allman Bros at Red Rocks is an annual tradition, now 13 years strong. They get better every year as Derek matures into one of the greats and Warren demonstrates why everyone wants him to lead there band. Greg's voice is still strong and he has settled into the generous elder, the rythmn section is a freight train. And nice to have Derek's wife, Susan Tedeski guest.

  • Allman Brothers Band

by Redneb on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Red Rocks venue is one of the best places to see a show. Of course, sitting in the 3rd row really made it a special night. The band was rockin' and very tight. Derek and Warren are amazing guitarist and it was really a very special night.

Such a good mix of songs and talent. Incredible show, wish I would have seen more of Railroad Earth.

  • Very disappointing

by annebat on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 2 out of 5

Took 4 of my 5 kids to this show. They had been really looking forward to it. They wanted to leave before it was over. They've all been to at least 30 concerts and have never been bored until last night. I get wanting to showcase the band members' talents, but each song was dragged out waaaaay too long. Also, it would have been nice to hear Mr. Allman sing more than a few songs. The best moment for our family was him singing and playing the accoutic guitar- pure and not overdone.

  • Inconsistent, subdued, weird

by JinxStevens on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 2 out of 5

This show never really found its direction and wallowed in jam sessions that were at times inspiring, but more often just notes without fire. Susan Tedeschi singing "Stormy Monday" did not cut it. Rendition of "Into the Mystic" was a chance to sit down or get a drink and suffle-verson finale of "One Way Out" had three percussionists seemingly playing to three different beats.

  • A show I'll never forget!!!

by MMurcin on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Allman Brothers, after 40 yrs, are at their best abd trully seasoned, magical, mesmorizing, musicians. The energy at Red Rocks will forever be unmatched by any other venue.

it was an amazing show non stop jamming railroad earth was really good too

  • Great Show

    by hightimes5280 on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

I could care less about the opening act, Railroad Earth, they were OK, nothing spectacular.. There wasn't enough tone contrast, if I'm listening to music like RRE, I'll be listening to the String Cheese Incident But the Allman Brothers band with Warren Hayes and Derek Trucks is a tour de force of rock guitar everybody should witness. One of the best shows of the summer, and the crowd was way chill... I took my mother who had not see the band since 1972 and she was left speechless as was I...

  • Allman Brothers Rock Red Rocks

by leeahopkins on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

This was a fantastic show. Railroad Earth opened and had the entire place on their feet. The Allman Brothers jammed for hours. I was joking it was the best 4 song concert I've ever seen. They did do lots of long jams but worked in many of their classics and covered Clapton and Van Morrison.

  • Excellent show, poor seating!

    by bluebrd959 on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

Once again, ABB put on a great show! Trucks and Haynes were on fire! Terrible seating arrangement though and it seems like the GA was oversold. Should have been reverse (normal for Red Rocks) where reserved seating is down low in the first 20 rows and GA is the remainder of the amphitheater.

  • Allman Brothers classic

by Kawika on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a picture perfect evening at Red Rocks for the 40th Anniversary Allman Brothers Tour. Railroad Earth opened with a great bluegrass/rock set. I don't know the fiddler's name, but he was fantastic, as were the rest of the band. I will certainly look for those guys again being that I had never heard of them. Right before the Allman Brothers took the stage, a gorgeous full moon had started to rise in the east and it was huge a glorious. A perfect setting for what was to become a long set with multiple solos from Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, and Greg Allman, with guest appearances from the fiddler from Railroad Earth and vocals and guitar from Susan Tedeschi. The only thing that would have made it a better show would have been if the Allman Brothers invited Dickey Betts to join them for some of his classic Allman Brothers greats. I suppose that bitterness still exists between them. All in all, it was a very memorable evening that had the crowd singing along to several of their hits. Should have made them proud to have so many followers for so many years. And from the looks of the crowd, there is a whole new generation of young kids that appreciate their sound.

  • Screamin' guitars!

    by Wolfie456 on 9/6/09Red Rocks Amphitheatre - MorrisonRating: 4 out of 5

With Warren and Derek you knew the guitars were going to be hot. And they were. Maybe a bit long on the jams, could have squeezed in a few more classics. No complaints though......unbelievable guitar work. The band absolutely ROCKS!
