Drove all the way from Atlanta to Charlotte to see ABB because of Steve Winwood. Winwood was okay but ABB was a big disappointment. Not sure who came up with the AWFUL set list made me want to die. There was no energy to the show & they played slow drawn out songs, what happened to Melissa, Worried Down With the Blues, Desdemona, only good song was Whipping Post. Saw ABB in NYC at Clapton's Crossroads a few months back & they rocked, but not at this show. Was so let down I sold my ticket to the Atlanta show on 9/2/13. Sorry guys never thought I'd say this but thought someone should know. Poor Greg looked really sick at this show, so sad.
Great ABB show...played Southbound and Blue Sky- rarities.
Excellent concert, great collaborations with Steve Winwood and his band. Totally Awesome show
Steve Winwood was awesome, had the crowd standing and cheering, the Brothers took it higher from there. Special treat when Winwood did a couple of tunes with the ABB.
Was a little worried that the Allman Brothers might be rocked out but man what a show! They played hard for three hours and are still as strong as ever. The videos were awesome, brought back lots of memories. Steve Winwood was really great and the couple of songs he played with the Allman Brothers were fantastic!! So glad I didn't miss this show!!!!!!!!!!!
The musicians were terrific and it was a very strong show. Drunk people insisted on standing in the aisle dancing wildly. The Verizon staff went through the motions of telling them to get out of the aisle, but actually did nothing to stop it. I tried several times telling the people, but they were too drunk to be reasoned with. Very frustrating! We could only see the show on the large screen t.v.! I don't recommend this venue for any show unless you are sitting out on the lawn and don't care to see the stage, or you are seeing someone like James Taylor, where you know the audience will remain seated. Very disappointed that the staff couldn't be bothered to manage the audience better. Glad saw Allman Brothers but I won't be going to this venue very often in the future.
That show was all star packed! Steve Winwood, Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks! The show was unreal!
I was not impressed this time around. More like an acid trip back in the 60's with the visual effects. I enjoy the Govt Mule show a lot better. Allmond Brothers rock but it seems they went off on every song instead of just playing.
Great show as always. Parking was easy and the beers were cold !
Thourougly enjoyed both the great Steve Winwood and the fabulous Allman Brothers Band in Charlotte on Saturday night. Winwood was the perfect opener and his setlist pulled from his Spencer Davis days,Blind Faith, Traffic, and his solo work. The Brothers were rocking with Derek,Warren, and Gregg leading the way. Loved the Blue Sky and Midnight Rider, Blind Willie McTell, Dreams, and Whipping Post...If both of these artists are in your neighborhood...don't think twice, just go out and see them.
I made it up the stairs to the top of the lawn hill just in time to hear "Had To Cry Today" by the Steve Winwood Group. Wow. The whole band was cooking. A great performance followed by the very best. Greg was healthy and in great voice. Warren and Derek were stunning! A great night was had by all!
Being able to hear Steve Winwood do those old great songs from Blind Faith and The Spencer Davis Group was awesome. The other songs were great too. But the highlight of the night was definately the Brothers. Greg sounded awesome, Warren's vocals and guitar playing was top notch like always, Otiel's bass solo rocked and Derek shredded his solos all night long, he even busted a guitar string during one of them. I have been chasing the song Whipping post for the last few years and I finally got one for the encore. It made my night and I can die happy and sastified. Thanks so much for a phenomenal show.
Concert was as usual - Great. Did want them to play a little longer than 2hours and 15 minutes. Steve Winwood was awesome as the opening act.
It was great to see Steve Winwood after so many years. His show was great. The Allman Brothers were good, but could have been tighter. It was as though they were tired from a season of touring and this was just another show. No contact with the audience from Gregg and no change in his continence throughout the show. Guitar playing was good but again, not perfect. The venue was good but needed ventilation during the sunny times. It was unbearably stuffy and hot. Would see them again, but hoping that they were more interested in the performance rather than just endless jamming.
Great opening set by Winwood. Nice mix of classics. Allman Brothers were as awesome as ever. Excellent rendition of "The Weight". They never disappoint.
Steve winwood was awesome with allman brothers what a show it was
I've seen the Allman Brothers a number of times over the years. There is no argument that they are indeed one of the best bands ever. But, like all good things I think it may be time for them to either cut back on touring or quit touring all together and focus on creating new music. In Raleigh they looked and played 'tired' with the exception of Butch. On a more positive note I thought Steve Winwood knocked it completely out of the park. His voice was perfect and his band was incredible, especially the rhythm section.
The Allman Brothers Band sounded great and played an awesome set that included collaboration with Steve Winwood and members of his band. Yet to be disappointed by an ABB show.
The Allman Brothers Band is still rolling along, and we're all better for it. I try to catch the guys every summer and was pleasantly surprised when Gregg Allman sang better than he had for several years. Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes on stage together is worth traveling cross country to see. Marc Quinones was a strong contributor on percussion and vocals this night. The other guys were right there, as well. The crowd had a great time, alternating between listening closely and roraring along with the band. The bits where members of Steve Winwood's band played with the Brothers were a little rough. Haynes noted it was their first time to try some of these things with those people. I expect later nights on the tour were outstanding. Trucks and Haynes are the two best guitarists working together in one band. I'd highly recommend catching an Allmans show if you can, just to watch these two great musicians interact on stage. It's the reason to see live music.
