About

The weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in THE ADDAMS FAMILY. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is "a visually satisfying, rib-tickling, lunatic musical that will entertain you to death!" says Toronto Post City. Created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with production supervision by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, THE ADDAMS FAMILY "is full of charm, wit and surprises that explain why it's a hit on its national tour" (CBS New Orleans).

THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story and it's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's "normal" boyfriend and his parents.

Come meet the family. We'll leave the lights off for you.

Addams Family is GREAT Family Fun

by NOPlaygoer on 9/23/11Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

I thoroughly enjoyed The Addams Family - it was great fun. The singing and music was truly special especially Gomez. The costumes and set were also top notch - definitely not "touring" material.

    Addams Family travels well

by seniorbob on 9/23/11Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

Different, due to cast, from Broadway, but really entertaining. Theatre was perfect, staging and costumes great. Only one Nathan Lane, but this Gomez was quite a singer. Morticia put on a couple of pounds, but in the right places. I thought the supporting cast was the equal of NY.

    Addams Family was excellent!

by DonnaMud on 9/23/11Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

From arrival at this beautiful venue in a mule-drawn carriage, through the standing ovation, an unforgettable experience in NOLA. Besides being very impressed with the choreography, there is something in this musical that will win over any age group - humor, romance, catchy musical score, costuming - all around winner. We want to go again and take our whole family!

    Absolutely to die for!!!

by TheaterLoverBR on 9/22/11Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

This show is amazing. I would highly recommend it to everyone. The plot is fluffy and doesn't make you think much, but it was highly entertaining. From someone who works in theatre I would say that the lighting was great. A lot of attention to detail. Great music. I like the changes from the Chicago Try-out and Broadway CD. The diction of the singers was impeccable. I understood every line. Sound was great. While I felt the drums could have been more present and the balance was a little off on some of the ensemble numbers, I understand that this was the first stop on the tour so they are still working out some of the kinks. However, for it being the first stop and one of the first performances for an audience, I'd say they are in a great place this early in the run. Great singers and voices. I love the use of the main drape to frame out the scenes.

    Thoroughly enjoyable

I had a smile on my face from start to finish. I went with friends who had seen the Broadway version (with Brooke Shields) last week. They said that this touring production is better in every respect. By the way the sound at the Mahalia is superb!

This musical was everything I could have hoped for and more! Good story line, fantastic actors, and FULL of entertainment! My boyfriend and I never stopped laughing, and he isn't even a musical kind of guy. We are both planning to see it again before it leaves New Orleans. We sat in the 3rd row balcony and had great seats!

    The Addams Family

by RobertDavis on 9/21/11Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

I highly doubt the writers have ever seen the Addams Family. This was nothing like the original characters. This was a huge disappointment for any long time fan of the Addams family.

    Good stuff

by mopapa on 9/21/11Mahalia Jackson Theater - New Orleans

I'll admit I was concerned at first; the first 10-15 minutes were S-L-O-W. But once it picked up, it was very funny. Douglas Sills as Gomez was really good. His accent, not so much. But it was still fun. Unfortunately, I did not like the actors portraying Wednesday and Pugsley. All other actors were very good. Gomez singing to Wednesday was very touching. Loved the Ancestors. Biggest groan of the night - "Where are you going, Fester?: "To the moon, Alice! Should have seen that one coming, but didn't. It was hilarious! Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a good laugh.

    Excellent Show!

by IndianBayouGirl on 9/20/11Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

I have to say that this is one of my favorite musicals right now. I sat in the Balcony section which was a first and I was worried about the sound and being able to see everything. The sound was perfect (compared to Spamalot & West side Story) and I just loved the split view of the stage for each scene that was played out. Excellent cast and storyline. I would so see it again!

    The Addams Family was hilarious!!!!!

by BigMama69 on 9/20/11Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

This show was excellent. My preteen daughter requested we go. I didn't know what to expect, but we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed out loud the entire show. The one liners were great especially bringing in current day events. I also enjoyed how they manuevered the curtain to utilize half the stage for a performance. The singing and dancing were also fun.

Simply Great! Enjoyed it very much. However, the beginning of the second act was a little slow. But it picked up.
