Not expecting anything less from a New York based troupe, this musical is crisper than ice cold lettuce. If you're looking for spooky, ghoulish, dark, desperate entertainment, don't waste your time. What you'll experience is a warmhearted story about a not so "normal" family who, despite their quirky, headstone humor and odd characteristics, are more obsessed with life and love than with darkness and death. True to Raul Julia's interpretation of Gomez Addams and the tone and delivery of the original movies and TV show, the cast is razor sharp, the songs are fantastic, and Uncle Fester manages to get the audience to roar during his solo performance where he romances the moon. An unforgettable, 5 star performance that will warm your heart...and clean the cob webs out of your closet.
By far one of the best broadway productions i have seen so far as far as humor goes!! Everyone's performance was excellant. Beautiful voices!!
I think it was a very good rendition of the Adams family series. The set was well constructed and the scene changes went very smooth. The idea of a musical was scary, but it was well done. I wish that I had bought the soundtrack. I plan to look on line for a soundtrack.
AN EVENING OF COMEDY AND PURE ENTERTAINMENT, A CAST OF REMARKABLE PEOPLE BRINGING ALIVE A FAVORITE TV SHOW, THE STORY THEME WAS DONE WITH STYLE AND GRACE, ENJOYABLE BY ALLL AGES, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, DON'T MISS BROADWAY PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best musical I have seen so far! Wonderful singing, acting and dancing. I loved every bit of it. It was funny and just very enjoyable! I recommend everybody to see it!
The addams family was TOO funny! Brought my 2 daughters with me, ages 9& 10 and both loved it!
Fantastic. hilarious. I have told everyone I know this is a must see
Very funny and entertaining production! Loved the music, and the actors were extremely talented singers. Loved the Choreography too!!
Very funny...had a great time! I would recommend to anyone. Great family fun!
Did not know what to expect. It was amazing. Very funny. Surprising. Just a tongue in cheek delight. The lead who starred As Gomez was so good in his role with the Spanish accent as well. Lurch singing at the end was what I had predicted but not with the surprisingly operatic voice that he had.
The singing, the set, the story, the were fabulous!!!! My only issue was that some of the humor was inappropriate for my grandchild, which was the reason I went.
The Addams family was excellent. The musical was great fun, campy, hilarious. The puppetry was very well-done and added to the comedy.
Funny, delightful, great cast. Everything about this show was great. Broadway quality voices, funny songs. I needed a good laugh and this show didn't let me down. Everybody was laughing. The sets were simple but perfect and the lighting was right on the mark. The jokes were true to the Charles Addams cartoons, not the TV show or the movies. Plus, the show had a good steady pace and didn't get bogged down. I definetely reccomend this show.
WOW!!!!! WOW!!!!! WOW!!!!! And WOW!!!!!!! Neither my husband and I can stop talking about the "Addams Family." It was one of the best shoes we've seen in years! The music was perfect; the sets were GREAT; the costumes were well done, etc. As for the casting they were all as good as the original TV show. In fact, Mortia and Gomez almost made me forget John Austin and Carolyn Jones. My advice to all of New Orleans is see this show!!!!
I was not sure what to expect when I purchased my tickets for The Addams Family. I was extremely please with the performance. The had many lines that were very funny. The singing was phenomenal and overall I was very entertained throughout the entire show. The time flew by. Gomez was excellent!
We saw The Addams Family musical in New Orleans at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre. Although the acoustics could have been better, the show was delighfully fun. The entire cast was terrific. Memorable were Gomez, Wednesday and especially Uncle Fester. The staging, music and puppetry were all wonderful. Even the configuration of the curtain was done with theatrical flair. If you want a fun evening, see this show.
It's not entirely the turkey the NY Times made it out to be and it will surely play better in the provinces than it did in the Big Apple. The actor playing "Fester" easily steals the show and his "Moon" number is the highlight of Act Two [ which is much better than the first half.] There is some really funny dialogue; the music and lyrics are a very mixed bag and the show would fare better if some of the songs sung by Gomez were cut. Not being a fan of Nathan Lane, I think the actor in this part was fine, but he will be inevitably compared to Raul Julia, remembered from the two movies. Unfortunately, the part of Morticia is mis-cast,though Bebe Neuwirth hardly equalled Anjelica Huston on B'way. Sets, costumes, and lighting were first-rate and the show's opening night of national tour went well, excepting a fall [surely not intended] by Morticia, who looked properly mortified!
