About

The weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in THE ADDAMS FAMILY. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is "a visually satisfying, rib-tickling, lunatic musical that will entertain you to death!" says Toronto Post City. Created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with production supervision by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, THE ADDAMS FAMILY "is full of charm, wit and surprises that explain why it's a hit on its national tour" (CBS New Orleans).

THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story and it's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's "normal" boyfriend and his parents.

Come meet the family. We'll leave the lights off for you.

    TOTALLY ENJOYABLE

by MBJohnston on 5/5/14Times Union Ctr Perf Arts Moran Theater - Jacksonville

My husband and I had not researched the event so we did not know the jist of the story and I am happy to say we were totally entertained. We just let the story unfold as intended. Each character was unique and engaging. Of special note, Gomez and Fester were quite charasmatic. The chemistry between Gomez and Morticia was wonderful. Wednesday's voice was quite impressive. Had a great evening!!!!!

I brought my nine year old, little girl to this production. IT was her first big play or musical. She loved every second of The Addams Family. It made her make a final decision to pursue theater and drama! Thank You!

Addams Family - The Musical Disappointing

by kggp on 4/16/14Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Addams Family - The Musical was a disappointment. I truly was bored from the start. The songs were bland and the scenery was drab. The concept of bringing the Addams Family to stage was a good one but the direction that the creators took was wrong. It needed more edge - a boy meets girl - parents do not approve of wedding plans - has been done and a lot better. So a different plot would have been a good start. It needed more edge and creativy to really bring alive the quirky Addams Family. I just did not get the Rogers and Hammerstein musical approach to the score and lyrics. A concept with so much promise. It could have been a lot of fun and very engaging if a different direction had been taken.

    Greatly exceeded expectations!

by SandyMc on 4/16/14Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I did not know much about this show before going to it and was not expecting much. I loved it! The story was wonderful, the music was great (in fact, I just bought the soundtrack), and the actors were amazing! Wednesday, especially, really stood out. I left the theater happy and singing.

    The Addams Family(touring)

by silverhair67 on 4/16/14Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I was very impressed with the whole thing. I was amazed at how well it was presented as a musical. I liked the musical numbers and felt that the solo/duet singing was very good. I have problems when the ensemble sings and is almost overcome by the orchestra.

by Anonymous on 4/16/14Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

The Addams Family Show was AWESOME! I watched the "The Addams Family" show when I was younger and I was thrilled to see they have a touring play. I would definitely recommend ANYONE to see this show. If the show comes back into town I would definitely be seeing it again. It was simply HILARIOUS!

by soprano7 on 4/15/14Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Excellent dancing and acting! Most of the singing was very good as well although Pugsly needed a little help as he had some intonation issues and Wednesday was pretty nasal (perhaps a character choice?). The set was gorgeous and the orchestra outstanding.

    Not much of a story

by StructureGuy on 4/15/14Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

The staging was fantastic. The acting/singing and costumes were excellent. But unfortunately the story itself was so mundane it was beyond boring. There were whole scenes where the subject of the singing and dancing was of little importance to the non-story that it felt ridiculous. In spite of the annoyance of no story and a few very bad jokes it was still a mildly enjoyable evening only because the actors/singers made the best of a bad product. (Almost none of the crowd even got the joke about the old Jackie Gleason show the Honeymooners.)
