About

The weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in THE ADDAMS FAMILY. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is "a visually satisfying, rib-tickling, lunatic musical that will entertain you to death!" says Toronto Post City. Created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott & Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with production supervision by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, THE ADDAMS FAMILY "is full of charm, wit and surprises that explain why it's a hit on its national tour" (CBS New Orleans).

THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story and it's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's "normal" boyfriend and his parents.

Come meet the family. We'll leave the lights off for you.

    Not a Good Show

by HonestReview3 on 5/20/14Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

I enjoy going to a Broadway show a couple times a year. I've seen multiple shows in New York City, Chicago, and Indianapolis. Of course the traveling shows can be slightly less entertaining based on the talent. But this show was horrible. I always respect the actors who are trying their best, but the story, songs, sets... all bad. Just save your money and go see something else. There are a few funny lines, a few OK scenes. But mostly we were just waiting for it to be over. Very contrived story and lines. Honestly, not one memorable song.

Cute story line and good music. Very talented performers. Disappointed there wasn't better attendance as this is a good show for families.

Fun event, my kids are 11 so they did not get the sexual references. Not scary. We all loved the music. Wednesday had a great voice!

    Not Really Appropriate for Children

by MLCollie on 5/19/14Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

I guess I was used to the old Broadways and the Disney venues. I was very disappointed at the language and sexual content. This was not appropriate for youngsters or a "family" evening, in my opinion. Additionally, a lot of the conversation could not be made out and it was difficult to hear (which may have been good).

    Great show...great location!

by daneeley on 5/19/14Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

My wife and I have attended numerous shows at the Murat and Clowes Hall. Clowes Hall is by far our favorite location. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of room to walk around people. The facility is beautiful and parking is not an issue. We had never seen The Addams Family Musical so we were very excited about going. By and large, we were very pleased. The show was great and filled with many funny parts. The acting was awesome and the music was equally well done. The girl that played Wednesday was great. Her and Uncle Fester made the show! I was surprised, however, with a few of the sexual innuendos included in the production. Although I wasn't necessarily offended, I expected it to be a very family-friendly show. Had I had small children with me, I may have viewed the show differently. The innuendos probably went over the kids heads but they were still present and could offer some interesting conversations on the ride home.

    Brilliant!

by RyanMercer317 on 5/19/14Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

Going in to this performance I was hesitant, I didn't want the Addams Family messed up... THIS MUSICAL IS BRILLIANT! Absolutely hilarious and the cast slipped into the characters I've come to love perfectly! The musical was full of nods to the show as well as modern references (kids always staring at cell phones etc). Well worth seeing!

    Great entertainment

by GreatHodgyWestport on 5/19/14Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

The Play is extremely entertaining. Wednesday and her voice steals the show. Gomez character is a little weak and voice as well. Rest of cast is very good also. You will enjoy the show...everyone in attendance did.

    Snappingly good

by AvidAviary on 5/17/14Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

It has been awhile since I have seen a performance that was this good. The acting, music, ambiance, direction, etc were all amazing. If one likes plays, then one would see this. The second part (of two) felt like it lost some steam, but it picked up and delivered a smashing finale. If I were a critic, I would try to place this on a 'Must See' list. Nuff said. SEATS (as too long for the section): Section - 2T-L , Row - D, Start Seat 111, End Seat 112 The view is of the entire stage, but I would bring a magnifier of sorts. I might need glasses, though. The price for the seats were amazing, as it was 'Family Night'. The sound was spectacular. Clowes Hall always has spectacular sound.

The event was great! Very very funny. Characters looked soo realistic! Set, props, special effects were insane! They even had a Gomez & Thing out in the lobby to take pictures with! Souvenirs, tshirts were very cute and affordable. The only downfall, it was veryy modernized as opposed to how The Addams Family actually is. Example, jokes about such things as ObamaCare...Wednesday getting married..WHAT?

Really funny and well crafted show

by MrTrumpet on 5/10/14The Peabody Daytona Beach - Daytona Beach

I enjoy musicals, and have been a bit disappointed in some of the newer ones. However I was blown away by the Addams Family show. It helps a lot to have seen the TV Series, as it makes it easier to understand some of the jokes and the sight gags. Casting was perfect. Morticia was sexy and slinky, and Lurch and Uncle Phester were hilarious. I expected Phester to actually fly in the last sequence though...maybe he does in some other venues with more access to the needed apparatus. And the low cut gown on Morticia was very sexy - it must have been held in place with a lot of two-sided tape. It looked like a 'wardrobe malfunction' waiting to happen. The language is squeaky clean, and the plot is simple but clever. This is definitely not an R-rated show - but it is a PG show - but it would be important for the younger ones to be able to understand that the macabre humor is a parody and not take it too seriously. The Peabody Theater in Daytona is great for this kind (or almost any kind) of show. It is wide and not very deep, so everyone has a clear view of the actors' faces and expressions, and that added to the enjoyment of the show. The concept of the Addams family ghosts from generations past was clever and well integrated into the story line. Dancing was cute and while not choreographed as heavily as a show like 'Chicago,' it was well done and appropriate to expressing the concept and personalities of the characters. If you had never seen the TV version, some of the sight gags (like the boy laughing while chained to the wall by his sister) may seem - well - just strange. But you could not help but laugh anyway as the characters were able to project their comic personalities at a very high level. Scenery is well done and appropriate for the motif of the show. While there are no huge special effects (like Phantom), and no animated animals (Like War Horse) there are a few mid-level theatrical effects at appropriate times. And the resolution of the various plot lines at the end made everyone in the theater laugh and smile as they left the theater. The pit orchestra was led by a director who also was playing on what appeared to be a synthesizer. An excellent fairly well-known Broadway trumpet player (Jeff Katz) and decent woodwind guy brought the music to life. I always wish for a larger pit orchestra, but no doubt economics make it impossible to tour with a large orchestra. The musicians were very high level performers though, and they were able to carry the emotion of the music to the audience. I highly recommend this show, especially if you are familiar with and enjoyed the TV version, and I recommend it only slightly less if you have not seen the TV show - I cannot imagine that anyone who likes live musical comedy (with a live pit band!) would not have an enjoyable evening with the Addams Family.

    Adams Family Daytona Beach

by MCSDB on 5/6/14The Peabody Daytona Beach - Daytona Beach

The young lady who played Wednesday had a great voice, but overall the performers were not as good as I expected. The soound system made it difficult to hear well. I was surprised that the show itself had a poor storyline and very few great pieces of music. Fester and the moon was cute. Overall this was a disappointment.
