Rising electropop sensation Tei Shi has quickly become a critical darling thanks to her ethereal voice and futuristic, synth-soaked jams like “Bassically”. The blog set has been fawning over her lush, beat-driven pop masterpieces for the past few years, and now audiences around the country are flocking to her live shows. In concert Tei Shi delivers her dreamy, angelic vocals with a mixture of intensity and laid-back cool that keeps ticket buyers on their toes as they dance to her infectious grooves. Whether she’s performing cuts off her debut EP Saudade or blowing minds with her gorgeous rework of Beyonce’s “No Angel”, Tei Shi makes it clear that it’s only a matter of time before she reaches full-blown electropop stardom.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Argentina-born Tei Shi, aka Valerie Teicher, grew up in Columbia, Quebec, and British Columbia before moving to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. After graduating she relocated to New York City, where she released her 2013 debut single “M&Ms” and performed at the CMJ Music Marathon showcase. Her follow-up single “Nevermind the End” was a critical success, earning extensive blog coverage and landing on numerous year-end lists. Her rise continued in late 2013 with her debut EP Saudade, a six-song collection of sultry indie pop tunes that showcased her gorgeous voice and cemented her role as “one to watch”. She scored another blog coup in 2014 with a funky cover of Beyonce’s “No Angel” that has fans eagerly awaiting her full-length album debut.
