Tegan and Sara first established themselves as indie rock royalty in the mid-2000s. The Canadian duo released the critically-acclaimed albums So Jealous (2004) and The Con (2007), before evolving to more of a pop sound on 2013’s Heartthrob, which was produced by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters) and features the synth-pop hit “Closer.” Since their 1999 debut album Under Feet Like Ours, Tegan and Sara have sold over a million albums worldwide, and have played to sold-out arenas with artists like The Killers and Katy Perry. The twin sisters are also longtime activists, and are dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ women and girls through the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which they established in 2016. Their 2019 memoir High School was a New York Times best-seller, and was adapted into a television series of the same name. They released their 10th studio album Crybaby in 2022.

The first song didn’t even have any of their samples or keyboards in it,at the last 30 seconds of the song he figured it out. The girls didn’t know it of course but there were sound issues the entire gig.

by Remy on 11/2/22The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New Yorktegan and sara in their first tour in about 3 years did not disappoint. i was on the fence about going since i had work but i called out and completely happy i did. they sang their hearts out and blew the roof off the venue. sound was amazing. only gripe is leaving took a while because of limited exits.

They sounded amazing, the energy was fantastic, the stage looked great and the backdrop of the Manhattan/Brooklyn Skyline didn’t hurt :)

Of course this time was slightly different with the giving out of their book and readings of passages between performances of their songs. Their stories and dialogue between sets are always insightful and funny. It's always a great evening with them.

This "rule" forced everyone to be present and in the moment, which just enhanced the experience. Granted that I've been a fan of Tegan & Sara for years now (their work and as down-to-earth human beings), I'm in awe of how they continually keep things fresh. In this case, fresh is revisiting their beginnings, providing fans insight into how things came to be, giving us the opportunity to appreciate them that much more. Would highly recommend!

They read from their new memoir and shared old footage, which went beyond the story telling that we love them for. Overall, an incredible show that showcases their full talents as new authors and established rock stars. I didn’t even miss not having my phone.
