About
The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is an annual postseason college football game in Jacksonville, Florida. First held on January 1, 1946 at Jacksonville’s Fairfield Stadium, later renamed Gator Bowl Stadium, the event was played on the same field until 1993, when its current home at EverBank Stadium was built on the site and returned in 1995. Although the Gator Bowl began as a showcase for at least one member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the game’s opponents have more recently featured opponents from either the SEC, Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Across 80 editions of the Gator Bowl, memorable moments include the Pittsburgh Panthers’ 37-9 upset over the South Carolina Gamecocks in 1980 and Florida State coach Bobby Bowden’s last game in 2010. In 2025, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl game will be played on December 27 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

What a horrible looking field
by Skyking2012 on 1/5/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 1 out of 5I can't believe how horrible the field looked. The lines disappeared by the first half. Instead of having the 2 college teams painted in the end zones it just said Jacksonville. Nothing was happening to make you think that this was a Bowl game. More like a high school game than college. $4.00 for a small water. Good God!! You can buy a case of water for that price.

Lots of fun...including the Parade and Pep Rally. Only draw back was the sun went behind the sign and dropped the temperature with the wind. Otherwise AWESOME seats!!!

Great venue. Stadium is very accessible, seats are good, no obstructed views, ample parking. Too bad Ohio State lost, but my wife and I still enjoyed the day

My first College game ever. Was there at 8 am and from then till then end I had a blast. I think the one thing would have been to have a little more to do earlier before the game. I know things the night before but not everyone can afford all of it.

loved the tailgate party behind stadium!
by morma on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5Our family went and had a fabulous time. The tailgate party was alot of fun, the food was awesome and affordable. We sat up in the nosebleed section 416 and had the whole section to ourselves. Great view. And oh yea, the mighty Gators beat Ohio State AGAIN!!!!!!!!
OSU BUCKEYES R # 1!!!
by Missy7864 on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5Awesome game! Had a lot of fun! I would do it again!
Fun environment and great game
by BigBuckeyeGirl on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5The tailgate party was great and kid friendly. Just disappointed the Big Ten didn't have a tent same with Ohio State Alumni. It felt more like a home a home game for Florida because they had tents from UF alumni and SEC and passed out free items for their fans. Overall the event was great and organized.
Gator Bowl Game was awesome!!!!
by Anonymous on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5Great Seats and great game Awesome location for game right down from downtown
Gator Bowl event was Bo-ring!
by KnKMac on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 2 out of 5Aside from the actual game, the event was a joke. The "tailgate" party before the game was a complete rip off. $10 for nothing at all. Tents of vendors hawking their wares is not entertainment. Absolutely no environment for college football. The pregame show was stupid. A racecar drove into the midfield (late off his cue I think) and then they pushed the car off the field. That was it! Half time was fine with the bands and local kids. The official merchandise was different than the official merchandise that was being sold on the gator bowl website. I would recommend these planners visit a real college bowl game if they want to try this again next year.

Parking pass was a waste! Good seats were open and not available for purchase online.
Recommend, but....
by Baylexree on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5Gator Bowl was great, but it was hard to hear ANYTHING going on on the field. Bo Bice sang the anthem, but never heard his introduction, and he stood w/ his back toward us the entire time. IF Dale Ernhardt, Jr. tossed the coin, NEVER heard the introduction, but saw his car drive onto the field. When the half-time performers came out, they faced the Gator side the entire time. My suggestion is that TaxSlayer.com needs to make sure all the entertainment performs to BOTH sides. If that would have happened, my overall rating would have been 'amazing' instead of 'recommended'. Thanks!
Gator Bowl
by mommietime on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5My son graduated from OSU, so when I found out for sure that we were in the Gator Bowl, I immediately went on line to check on tickets, and was fortunate enough to secure these seats. I am disabled due to a stroke-I was temporarily paralyzed on my left side and could not walk or use my left arm or leg. I have made great progress since then and now use a cane and AFO (leg brace) but have to be careful, especially around crowds. These seats were easy to access, and were close to the restrooms-a necessity for me now. I really wanted to attend this game with my son. Even though the outcome wasn't what we would have liked, the experience as a whole was incredible. From the ease of the off site parking (Convention center) and shuttle service to and from the game to the pleasantness of the stadium staff at all of the points, and especially in the Stadium concession stand right inside where our seats were, our experience was great. And I was able to spend some fun, quality time with my son! The entertainment pre-game and at halftime was very well done, and the presentations were touching and inspirational. The vintage planes flying overhead were an added bonus-we are big aviation buffs.
Gator Bowl was fantastic
by wadamarine on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5Aside from my team losing, that was the only downside to the event. The city of Jacksonville did a tremendous job with the traffic. It was extremely easy in and out of the stadium and downtown.
Why did they let him return?!?!
by SlimAndNone on 1/4/12EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 2 out of 5My team lost, which was not a surprise given how poorly they played all season. That's about as much of the game as I can recall. Unfortunately, any pleasant memories of the game were overshadowed by the very vocal, very intoxicated, disgustingly foul-mouthed fan seated nearby. Fans seated in the area finally reached their breaking point in the 2nd quarter when this slimeball began spewing filth of a ---ual nature toward a group that included young children. Security was summoned and promptly pulled Mr. Wonderful out of the area. Relative calm ensued until late in the 3rd quarter when, for some inexplicable reason, Mr. Wonderful was allowed to return to his seat, no less intoxicated, slightly less vocal, slightly less foul, but still a major jerk. Public intoxication sure brings out the best in some folks! For stadium Security: Why did you let him return?!?!
