About

The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is an annual postseason college football game in Jacksonville, Florida. First held on January 1, 1946 at Jacksonville’s Fairfield Stadium, later renamed Gator Bowl Stadium, the event was played on the same field until 1993, when its current home at EverBank Stadium was built on the site and returned in 1995. Although the Gator Bowl began as a showcase for at least one member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the game’s opponents have more recently featured opponents from either the SEC, Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Across 80 editions of the Gator Bowl, memorable moments include the Pittsburgh Panthers’ 37-9 upset over the South Carolina Gamecocks in 1980 and Florida State coach Bobby Bowden’s last game in 2010. In 2025, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl game will be played on December 27 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

This was not worth our time to attend. The drink stands did not have license to sell alcohol and the one that did ran out of water and soft drinks within an hour.

  • TaxSlayer Bowl was awesome!

If your team is playing in the TaxSlayer Bowl, there are few venues as nice where you can also plan a vacation near the beach. Jacksonville is a great city with lots of things to do and you're only 40 minutes from St. Augustine, an hour and a half from Daytona Beach and 3 hours from Orlando. EverBank Stadium has video scoreboards at each end that are the largest of any stadiums in the NFL.

The event itself was very good. The host city or committee did not do a very good job with things like parking. Drove around the stadium numerous times trying to find Lot W. Misdirected by rude police who wanted nothing to do with a semi lost visitor. Parking lot had no portapoties. There were two across the street serving way too many users. The attendants in the lot told me the city was cheap and took them away. The stadium event was very good.

Had quite of bit of activities, but after paying $10 to get in and the cost of the food and alcohol was overally priced - not to mention that after standing in VERY LONG lines 2 different times you get up there to purchase a beer and told We are sorry we just ran out and have to move to another tent to get a HOT BEER. Never again would I bother to do this. I think the cover charge should be refunded - we all finally just went back to our cars and ate and drink what we had brought with NO LINES OR HOT BEER.

I really enjoyed the event. They had set up different things to interact with and it was done with a lot of class.

  • Food Shortage

by Thundernole on 1/5/15EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 2 out of 5

With an hour to go they ran our of chicken and pork, leaving late comers to feast on cole slaw and beans. Poor planning. Bad value.

  • No excitement from fans to play Nebraska again

by EagleDave on 1/4/14EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Stadium is decent, Area around Everbank field is a dump.

  • by paladawg on 1/4/14EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Seats were great. Event good, but it rained entire game and we lost. Would have been nice if they had sold ponchos, but there were none to be found and we got soaked to bone. Miserable.... Website and app for Gator Bowl events were not good. Directions and where to park not there for everything.

  • Awesome game!

Game was great! Stadium is old, but who cares!! Prices for food and drinks were insane! 4 hotdogs, 2 drinks for $42!! Beer was $8! I get it's a venue, but c'mon!

  • Love the Gator Bowl!

by newstingrayfan on 1/5/13EverBank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Northwestern beat Mississippi State, 34-20, in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. It was a great game! I am proud of my Wildcats! The stadium is pretty good, the seats comfortable, the views good. If the Jaguars get better, this would be a good place to watch NFL games. And if your team makes the Gator Bowl next year, or if you just like college football -- or you want to catch the Georgia-Florida game in person -- this is a good place to go.

The Gator Bowl is very well run. The game is played on the home field of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The employees had no difficulty handling traffic or entry at the gates. all the vendors were very personable. And, the football game was very good!

We love college football & we are vacationing the month of January in Destin, Florida. The Gator Bowl was the closest bowl game for us so we decided to go. The weather was perfect & it was a closely contested game. My only complaint was allowing MSU fans to bring their "cowbells." Even though an announcement was made after half time to remind MSU fans not to ring them when NW had possession of the ball, the ringing was constant. I have never been to a FB game where any type of "noise-maker" was allowed. Why were they permitted in a bowl game!? We paid $80 a seat & deserved to enjoy the game without a cow bell ringing constantly in our ears.
