About

The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is an annual postseason college football game in Jacksonville, Florida. First held on January 1, 1946 at Jacksonville’s Fairfield Stadium, later renamed Gator Bowl Stadium, the event was played on the same field until 1993, when its current home at EverBank Stadium was built on the site and returned in 1995. Although the Gator Bowl began as a showcase for at least one member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the game’s opponents have more recently featured opponents from either the SEC, Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Across 80 editions of the Gator Bowl, memorable moments include the Pittsburgh Panthers’ 37-9 upset over the South Carolina Gamecocks in 1980 and Florida State coach Bobby Bowden’s last game in 2010. In 2025, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl game will be played on December 27 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

  • Wow what a game!

I had a Blast, good game , intense yet fulfilling. the teams were equally matched player skills and both coaching methodologies, obviously by the final scores. Kudos to both teams. Keep up the good work! PS: It is disrespectful for students to 'booo' another team, players , refs , coaches, band, flag/dance team, etc. You must note that they are someone's child. As a parent I want to see my child just as your Mom & Dad would want to see you perform, so that 'booo-ing' should not be allowed at any NCAA activity or professional sports......An alumni Parent!

  • City Not Prepared

by Jordyn on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 2 out of 5

We got to Jacksonville on New Years Day and drove through downtown where the stadium was. There was absolutely nothing open as far as restaurants. We had to go back across the bridge to eat. The day of the game, same thing. Restaurants all around the stadium were closed and the ones that were open, were not prepared for the size of crowd as they ran out of several food options and ended up closing early. The stadium concessions were just as bad. They ran out of souvenir cups before the game had even started, ran out of popcorn containers, pizza boxes, etc... how does this happen?? Hotels were booked fully, they know how many tickets were sold, they are home to an NFL team and host a bowl game every year?? It was pitiful at how unprepared Jacksonville was for this event.

Exciting game even though my alma materlost my one point. Excited sellout crowd of 61,000. A very good experience.

  • Let’s talk about preparation

    by Volfan19 on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 3 out of 5

With 60,000 fans and it being a bowl game you would think inventory would be well prepared for sales. Instead, they ran out of pizza boxes first (serving pizza on napkins) then eventually ran out of pizza by third qtr. They ran out of fries and tenders at dicks wings by half time. The stadium drink sellers tried to say it was last call on beer because it was all gone but came back 20 minutes later with more... Needless to say I was hungry after the game with very limited options to choose on because of the time. One more thing to add on my “experience” was leaving the game. Whoever came up with the exit plan executed it very poorly causing multiple fans to not only go the opposite way on the highway but make turns (because cones were blocking off certain roads) that led to a dead end. This was talked about in multiple fan groups so it wasn’t just the people I know that experienced it.

  • 2020 Taxslayer bowl

by Steve in Richmond on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The pregame concert was a fantastic idea. This was not available last time Tennessee was there in 2016. Seats were great for viewing the game. Only downside was the quality of the food and then the concession stands ran out of lots of things....even hot dogs and bottled water! Overall though, we had a great time!

  • Not a great Bowl Game

    by K. A. on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 3 out of 5

We used an Uber to attend event. Traffic was fairly organized as streets were marked off and a flow of traffic was organized very well around the stadium. It was not very convenient if you were using an Uber and not utilizing a designated parking area as it was hard for drop off and pick if using an Uber. The event itself was lacking in “presentation” for a special event like a Bowl game. Meaning very relaxed in opening teams entry no fireworks. Also, the stadium concessions seem in prepared in serving food items or drinks....they seem to run out of things within the 1st quarter. Also, no staging at the end of the game as with other events for trophy presentation. Also, food items were really over priced, a bottle of water was $5!!! Just was not very impressed with the event.

  • Gator bowl

    by K. D. on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Forgot to mention the security supervisor who was on a power trip! She stood over the guy checking bags making him recheck all clear bags!!! Made one woman throw away her purse that was very small, tried to make my sister throw out her billfold! It was the same as mine but I passed. That woman should not be in that position, very condescending! It was over the top and unnecessary! Getting in was the worst entering a stadium experience I’ve ever had! The stadium it’s self was ok, creepy inside. But they “ran out “ of water / food at the start of the 4th qtr!?!!??!?!

    by K. D. on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Port a pots in parking areas at the stadium not emptied from jaguars game 5 days prior. Fan experience was chaotic. Pep rallies were lame, and port a pots there were disgusting- last time emptied 11/27!! Felt like the locals could have cared less. Weather was great!

  • Great Event

by ConM on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

This turned out to be a great event! The weather happened to be perfect. The facility was great. Near stadium parking allowed for lots of tailgating opportunities. A great beach was only a 25 minute drive from the stadium. The 7 pm kickoff allowed for time to do other things even on game day. And the fans from both teams were very friendly both before and after the game and seemed to enjoy each other. This was the first time I've ever used "ticketmaster" to purchase an online mobile ticket. I really liked being able to see all the tickets available, their location and their price. I was able to pick out just what I wanted. The purchase was simple and having the ticket in my iphone wallet made handling the ticket and entering the game go very smoothly. I highly recommend this event.

  • Where’s the beef

by Rico suave on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Shortage of food and workers at concessions. Not prepared for 62,000 fans - did u not account for ticket sales prior to game? Extremely long lines to get food - should have more than just obnoxious beer vendors working isles Great game but unprepared bowl

  • Purchase was straightforward and easy

by Ezgo on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Great seats and easy parking. Wife's birthday present was a success.

  • Having the tickets on my phone was a breeze!

    by VFL72 on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The procedure to get into the stadium was lengthy, as the staff were very thorough when searching purses, etc. They were courteous and I appreciated that, plus feeling safe inside the venue.

  • Great game, concessions were terrible.

    by J. on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The game was spectacular, even though Indiana didn’t win the seats and the atmosphere were great. Unfortunately that could not be said for the concessions. For an NFL stadium it was the worst I have ever seen. They ran out of food and were not able to move people or if line very quickly at all. I stood in “line” with my daughter for almost an hour to get a popcorn, pretzel, and 2 waters. In all reality there really wasn’t a line, it was just a mass of people standing together waiting. Not only did you have people at the concession stands the souvenir and bathrooms were all there together. There was no possible way for anyone to move or get around. The funny thing about it was they had plenty of beer to sell. Perhaps if they had half as much beer and stocked with more food they wouldn’t have had any issues. Fortunately we didn’t miss the majority of the game but it most definitely took away from the experience. I expect better from an NFL stadium.

  • Great game, great price.

by Rhkosky on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The overall experience at TIAA Field was pleasant. Once we found the poorly marked parking lot to which we were assigned, it was actually a field. But it was a great place to tailgate. The venue staff were helpful and friendly. Overall, worth it!

  • It was a great experience!

    by E. H. on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The ticket purchase was seamless. The parking pass was simple and we had a great location. Getting into the lot and the game was easy. The stadium staff were incredibly nice. After the game it only took a few minutes for us to be on the road heading back to our motel. Two thumbs up for sure!
