About

The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is an annual postseason college football game in Jacksonville, Florida. First held on January 1, 1946 at Jacksonville’s Fairfield Stadium, later renamed Gator Bowl Stadium, the event was played on the same field until 1993, when its current home at EverBank Stadium was built on the site and returned in 1995. Although the Gator Bowl began as a showcase for at least one member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the game’s opponents have more recently featured opponents from either the SEC, Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Across 80 editions of the Gator Bowl, memorable moments include the Pittsburgh Panthers’ 37-9 upset over the South Carolina Gamecocks in 1980 and Florida State coach Bobby Bowden’s last game in 2010. In 2025, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl game will be played on December 27 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

  • Stadium entry exit disaster

by ArtS on 1/2/23TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 1 out of 5

This is by far the worst venue imaginable when trying to enter and exit the stadium. Clearly they have few fans that come to jaguar games. Especially after the game they exits BLOCKED and we’re funneling thousands of people through very limited gate exit. If there would have been an emergency it would have spelled disaster. Employees did little to NOTHING to assist with people flow and the PARKING pass was an absolute waste of money. There were people walking around through traffic no control or assistance ZERO help by officials to exit even the parking lot. The construction equipment around the stadium walkways were also obstructive to flow. Going in was ok because NOT everyone arrives at the same time - the exit process — I’ve been to many college(with many more fans) and high school venues that could teach incompetent stadium managers how to efficiently manage people flow. Be assured WE WILL never return to this place for any event. Embarrassing for such a large city that made big bucks to have such absence of hospitality and employees who even cared about visitors.

  • A great experience

The Gator Bowl is a hidden gem of a day. The venue, parking, teams, and the weather - wow!

  • It was good

by wcrooster on 1/2/23TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

It was a fine game despite coming up short. With 12 players who played the last 2 games not play in the Gator Bowl including 10 starters made it a very difficult accomplishment in beating ND. SC played their hearts but the lack of numbers caught up with SC . Just was not enough.

  • 2022 Gator Bowl

by Gamecock Kevin on 1/2/23TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Traveled from SC to Jacksonville the morning of the game. Parked and tailgated in lot J before entering the stadium and sitting in section 210. Awesome day…. Loved every minute.

  • ADA handicap seating.

by Todd Z on 1/2/23TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The ADA handicap seating at the stadium was some of the best ever. Family bathrooms were available throughout the stadium and they had attendants to make sure only those in need could enter. The ramps were easy to negotiate if you chose not to use the elevators. The attendants were very kind and understanding. There were shuttles everywhere to get us back and forth to our car. It was a great experience. One of the easiest stadiums to get around in with a disability. A++++

  • Lots of rules

    by J. B. on 1/2/23TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Make sure you read restrictions for items brought in before leaving a mile from your car to get in! Clear bags, No cushions. And the food was organized to purchase but terrible to eat.

Excellent game great time. Good seats but a little to high up for me. But overall not a bad seat in the stadium

  • 2022 Gator Bowl

by Kevind on 1/2/23TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

We really enjoyed the Fan Fest and the venue. The only negative part of the experience was a dead rat located under our seat. It took almost 30 minutes to find someone to dispose the rat. Also, we couldn't find a vendor to purchase a program.

Great time at the gator bowl. Looking forward to next year. Can't wait to see what tickets come available for other events

  • Family Day

by FrankB on 1/3/22TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

My extended family all went to the tax slayer bowl. It was a great family outing for everyone from the age of 3 to 65. We cannot wait to do it again next year. It was too bad Texas A&M could not attend because a competitive game would have made this event that much better

  • Great Experience

    by K. H. on 1/8/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Beautiful stadium, great game but the stadium was not prepared for the amount of people and ran out of food

  • Great game, not so great venue.

by Generic Music Fan on 1/6/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 1 out of 5

Jacksonville appeared to have no organized traffic control before or after so getting to the stadium is harder than it should be. Conversely the parking lot is strictly directed. So you have to get stuck where you can't get out after the game. It took 35 - 40 minutes to get into the stadium since they have poorly organized entry gates. There are only enough bathrooms for a crowd of 10,000 in a stadium that probably holds 75,000. A total of 12 chicken tenders, fries and 4 generic bottles of water were $68. Great place for a high school game. Anything bigger than that it is insufficient for the crowd size.

  • Everything was so well planned and just plain awesome!

    by D.F. on 1/6/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Everyone who worked at the stadium was very friendly and more than helpful., The security in Jacksonville was very cordial to everyone, and made everyone feel really safe. This is truly one of the best bowls I have been to.

  • Taxpayer Gator Bowl

    by k. B. on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

The stadium experience was good. The local restaurants and downtown hotels were not prepared for a crowd. Absolutely nothing open on New Years Day. Restaurants out of food, etc. Downtown Jacksonville has gone down hill over the years.

  • A Fun Time

by Bam on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 4 out of 5

We had a good time at the game, probably because my team won. I’ve been to several bowl games and season kickoff games in the past. This event didn’t live up to my bowl expectations, but was still fun. I expected more fan interaction and events. I thought the stadium was in an odd area with absolutely nothing nearby. There was one hotel within walking distance and it was 1.2 miles away from TIAA. The comeback win by the Vols was definitely the best part of the entire experience.

  • Great game

by Wacko on 1/5/20TIAA Bank Field - JacksonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The help outside of the field really had no Idea where the gates were... The gate we wanted was 50 yards from where I asked for directions. He had us walk around the entire field and go where we were when we asked..
