About

Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

Kick ass show. I wish she played a bit longer, an hour doesn’t seem quite long enough.

  • Concert was great but there was no room to sit comfortably

by Danielle on 5/15/23Golden Nugget - Biloxi - BiloxiRating: 3 out of 5

They chairs were on top of each other. You could not stand nor move. If you did you hit the person next to you. If they would have spaced the seats out more it would have been better.

  • We would do it again!

Section 102 Row F. Perfect! Tanya was really personable! I wouldn’t have wanted to be any further back. Loved the show. (Didn’t like standing in line to get into the ballroom)

  • Tanya Was Great, Venue Was Not

by Glory on 3/23/23Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

We were scheduled to see Tanya Tucker in Laughlin a couple of years ago. That didn't happen when she broke her hip and that concert was cancelled. So we were happy to have the opportunity to see her close to our Phoenix location. She's a wonderful vocalist and we thoroughly enjoyed her performance. Thank you Tanya. There was an unavoidable problem with the late arrival of the band due to snow on their way. Talking Stick staff did not allow us to enter the venue and be seated to wait. Instead they left us standing in lines, waiting for over an hour after the doors were supposed to open. When we were allowed to enter, we were unpleasantly surprised to see that the handicapped seating was way to the left of the stage with the bar located next to us. There was a constant stream of people coming and going from the bar. We spent a lot of time trying to see while trying to keep our feet out of others way. We aren't likely to go to another show at Talking Stick.

Truly, a heart wrenching performance given from the heart of a fantastic performer Sharing her love of music with family and friends of her former hometown. We love you, Tonya.

The late start was disappointing. I loved the life story integrated into the show. Band and vocal's were Fabulous. Not preforming all of Her hits was disappointing as well. My standard for the judging of Live performances is Brian Wilson...

  • True Performer

by Mrmadonna on 3/20/23Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

It had been a while since I saw her last. Purchased the ticket few house before the show. Band had been stuck so show started late, but she is the ultimate performer. Was such a great show, loved hearing songs I hadn’t heard in a while. 50 years and still making great music.

  • Awesome show

by AR on 3/20/23Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. Tonya was excellent. Talking stick did not open doors at 7:00pm. Doors opened at 8:15pm. The standing in line for an hour was hard on the seniors and my group. Otherwise the show was great, would go see her again. Bring in the older country singers

  • Fabulous

by Weda on 3/20/23Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The whole experience was amazing! Tanya was so great she made everyone feel like they’re friends or neighbors not fans. She has personality I cried I was so happy! I took a tram, a bus, and a Uber to get there and come back home. I had to learn to walk around because I had foot surgery to be there. Worth it I would do it again

  • Late and short

by Tanya fan on 3/20/23Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

The show was supposed to start at 8 pm but never started until 9pm. It was over at 10pm. So we waited in line longer than the show was.

I’m not a country fan and really went to show for my wife, but Tanya was an amazing entertainer who sounded great, very down to earth and personable! Turned out I really enjoyed the show! Her band were tight and her daughter also had a great voice. Her dog was cool as well,

I grew up listening to Tanya Tucker and now my daughter and granddaughter are fans.. we make it a point to go and see her anytime she is in town.. But this was the best show... she is so personable and interacts with the fans... we sat 2nd row and she is still the best.. Her voice is classic and I can hear her all day.. we all enjoyed the show and wished it would have lasted a little longer... I regret not running up and getting autograph.. She is my favorite and I hope she comes back again soon...

Tanya’s concert was great! Love her personal touch talking with the audience like we were sitting in her living room! I had a GREAT time for a girls night out with my friend my first time being at Talking Stick Resort nice place.

  • Good

by Corgi girl on 3/20/23Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

She was amazing! Not my first time seeing her. The problem was the venue! If you sat back to far it was hard to see her if you’re short and a tall man with a cowboy hat sat in front of you. That’s the only problem I had. My mom is only 5’2 and could not see well. So we moved even farther to the back wall to stand to see her.

  • Short....

by Tim Z on 3/20/23Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

Started what was suppose to be a 2 hour concert an hour late, then had the audacity to end it on time, without even an encore. So we got to experience a one hour concert.

Tanya gives 100% from start to finish. One of the most energetic entertainers performing today. Tanya still has the vocal chops and her stage presence is magnetic. She combined music, comedy, and story telling; resulting in a 90 minute “living room” experience. Her bull dog wandering around on stage added a down home feel. 5 stars from my hat to my boots.
