Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

The concert was good. Her singing is still great. The nugget needs to keep the drunks away from the stage during the show.

Tanya was great. Connected with the crowd very well, and still has that distinctive voice. Thoroughly enjoyed the show!

Have always been a fan of hers!! I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to see her sooner. Band was outstanding, and Tanya put on one hell of a performance!!

  • Tanya Tucker...fabulous!

    by JayDF27 on 7/28/15Golden Nugget - Biloxi - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

Hot damn!!! Had such a good time. Tanya's voice is as good as ever! A fan since the late 80's (when I was about 13 or so) and this was my first time seeing her. Can't wait to see her again. The set list was full of hits, only 3 of them from the 70's...wish there had been a couple more from those days.

A country legend that still has a strong voice. Very personable with audience and seemed like a genuinely nice person. I am actually going to buy one of her greatest hits albums after seeing her perform.

I had forgotten how many hits Tanya Tucker has had. Every song she sung was a #1 hit. Her voice is so strong. Great entertainer.

  • Great Concert!!! She Still Has It!!!

Tanya was great! She performed very well and interacted with her audience! It was all I would hope it would be. Been a big fan since I was little.

  • Embarassing

by LittleLioness on 7/28/15Golden Nugget - Biloxi - BiloxiRating: 2 out of 5

I was embarrassed for Ms. Tucker. She is no longer a teenager, but tried to act like one. Her attire and moves were not sexy or coquettish, as she apparently intended, but only served to make me very uncomfortable. Her voice is still excellent.

  • She was wonderful

by Anacocogirl on 7/28/15Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 5 out of 5

Would love to see again. She may be just getting back on the road, but she still has it. My boyfriend had a crush on her in junior high. And really enjoyed her.

  • Not bad

She still is a very good entertainer in many ways. Her voice remains very good.

  • Tanya still has it!

by Musicfan1632 on 7/27/15Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 4 out of 5

After not touring for 4 years, Tanya Tucker is back on the road. Although not an "amazing" concert, Tanya put on a great show, almost 2 hours worth of mostly her hits. I had forgot how many hits she has, and my wife sang along to all of them. I would recommend her show and would go see her again.

  • wish i had not gone

by hotstuff100 on 7/27/15Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 1 out of 5

the music was to loud and I could not hear Tanya sing, could not understand the words. they should have tested the mikes before the concert. when joel came on stage I could not hear the accordion with the electric guitar behind him. was a waste of time , and I would not recommend the golden nugget concert room , they had chairs and it was crowded. they will never see me again, nor will I go to a Tanya tucker concert

  • Tanya Tucker kicked ass!!!!

The concert was excellent. Every seat was good because of the small venue!!!

  • No boohooin' here!

by uccjeb on 7/27/15Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't sure how Tanya would hold up in this day and age, but she was upbeat, had plenty of energy, and really interacted a lot with the crowd (getting in on selfies etc). And that raspy voice was just as good as always. Would definitely recommend the show to any Tanya fan or 80's-90's country fan.

We really enjoyed the show. Ms. Tucker doesn't strut around quite as easily as I'm sure she did 20 years ago, but her voice still sounds great! We are so glad we went to the concert.

The concert was good but the seating was not very good. We had seats to the side of the stage and didn't have a very good view.
