Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

  • Disappointed in choice of material

    by Linda321 on 2/20/16Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 2 out of 5

After appearing onstage 15 minutes late, I was disappointed that she did not choose to sing her own material, but rather Merle, Glen Campbell and what I thought was a "bad" choice from her new album. "Don't Tell Mama I Was Drinking".....is that the "best' on the album? She seemed to be uncomfortable in her own skin referring to her 'fat" as she tried to get on a stool to sing one song. She has so much music that she could have chosen to sing and what I had hoped to hear.

  • She sounded exactly the same - AWESOME!!!

by GailGerm on 2/20/16Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I'm so glad I got to see her at the Birchmere - nice small more intimate setting. She talked to the audience which a lot of entertainers don't do. Best part - she still sounds AMAZING!

  • Good Performance

by Jopak on 2/19/16Hard Rock Northfield - Northfield, Ohio--Cleveland areaRating: 4 out of 5

We saw Tanya Tucker at the Hard Rock Northfield. Her show started about 20 minutes late. Her voice is strong and amazing; perfectly complimented by her 3 piece musical group. The show is not elaborate or flashy; just her treating the audience with some of her top hits and those of other artists like Glen Campbell and George Jones. She connects well with the audience joking a bit and sharing a little of her life story. Although Tanya definitely can entertain with her beautiful voice, her effort at dancing a bit on stage is not flattering and would be better left out of her performance. The show lasted about an hour and a half and was certainly worth seeing. The crowd was definitely pleased.

  • Tanya Tucker was great in Las Vegas!!!!

by ROCKONwithEddie on 12/7/15Grand Event Center at the Golden Nugget - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Finally got my chance to see her. Had 4th row center and loved it. The seating was a little crowded though in between rows, but her voice is great. Loved her sparkly pants too. They should sell those with her shirts. She was funny and loved her songs. She never introduced her band though but otherwise loved it.

As good as you can get. Tanya still has it. She was a hit mega applause. Every song a memory.

  • Tanya sounded like a crystal clear album!!

    by Tanyalover on 9/2/15Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 5 out of 5

Jack Ingram was unbearably loud, making people in the seats plug their ears. Never would recommend a concert he performed again. Tanya Tucker was awesome! Her voice was crystal clear and she had a fabulous stage performance. She seemed so thrilled to be back on stage. I've seen her in the past 20 years and was disappointed. This recent show at Ho Chunk was amazing!! I would love to see her again, soon!

  • Tanya Tucker still has it, great show

    by SashaFrosty on 9/1/15Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 5 out of 5

Jack Ingram to me was horrible. The instruments mainly the bass guitar was overbaring his voice. His eyes were shut during almost his whole show & never seen any entertainer play there guitar down by their shins. Wasn't an entertainer that I would want to see again & he said, ready for some country music? Yeah, right, I hope he did listen to Tanya Tucker & I hope he took major notes, Tanya was unbelievable! Loved her & so, hope you get her back soon!! Her sound board control person set her & her band up perfectly. I could hear her every word. Thanks for booking Tanya & I hope she continues to share her real country music & keep traveling for country fans like me to enjoy & cherish. We all enjoyed Tanya immensely! Thanks again

  • Tanya GREAT Opening ACT Dreadful

    by redrivervalley55 on 9/1/15Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 4 out of 5

Venue was not so good, but we did get to choose our seats up close so that was a plus. The worst part of this was the opening act Jack Ingram, I swear he was stoned, high & drunk. His grandfather died that day so his whole act was a tribute to him, songs he sang not one have you ever heard of and hard to understand. I can see one tribute song to the Grandfather but the whole hour not. We couldn't wait till he got off the stage. It was Tanya's second show of the night, while she sang most of her hits I felt she was tired, their was alot of talk to the audience it was very routine and business like her whole act. But you could tell she was trying. I would love to see her Again but if she is doing 2 shows make sure to go to the lst one. Her voice is still awesome though, so the hour of Tanya singing was great.

Tanya Tucker was absoulutely magnificent , She was as great as she was when she was younger hasn't changed abit. As for Jack Ingram show... The music was way too loud, couldn't understand most of his show, it is sad because he has a great talent.... I left there with a headache....sorry Sue Peot

    by FlaGrandma on 9/1/15Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 5 out of 5

Both Jack and Tanya gave great performances ! Jack did his best despite it being a very sad day for him, with the passing of his Grandfather. Tanya was fabulous. Her voice is so strong and true to what we remember from her very first songs. She is so entertaining and a real performer !

  • Tanya Tucker was awesome, as usual:)

Tanya sang a lot of her hit songs, but in my opinion, all her songs are hits! She was as entertaining as ever:) Going to see her again in November:)

  • Wasted money

    by CJIAM on 9/1/15Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 1 out of 5

Thumbs down on Jack Ingram. Took up over half of the show & couldn't understand his lyrics due to loud speakers. Tanya's songs were old & moldy.

  • Tanya tucker was awesome, Jack sucked!

    by Wally1233 on 9/1/15Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 4 out of 5

Tanya was completely awesome playing hit after hit keeping the crowd in awe! Jack could hardly stand on stage much less perform he was so drunk. I would not recommend ever seeing him but I would definitely want to see Tanya again!

  • Tanya Tucker was amazing

    by Tdnash78 on 9/1/15Ho-Chunk Gaming-WI-Dells - BarabooRating: 5 out of 5

I hadn't seen Tanya Tucker since early 90's at the fond du lac fair and she was point tonight. She performed all my favorites from its a little to late to Delta Dawn. She did a great job getting crowd fired up and it was just a great night of timeless hits and can't wait to see her again

  • TANYA PUT ON AN AWESOME SHOW!

    by Tulie76 on 8/20/15Golden Nugget - Biloxi - BiloxiRating: 5 out of 5

I was excited to hear that Tanya Tucker was coming close to my town. My sister is a HUGE fan of Tanya. I thought my sis was going to faint when I told her we were going to see Tanya perform! That has been one of her long time dreams! I snagged us a couple of tickets as soon as I knew they were going on sale. She sang all the songs we knew... and then some. Tanya was amazing! She's still got it!

  • Tanya is better than ever!

by jaja1 on 8/10/15Del Mar Fairgrounds - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

Tanya's voice and energy didn't stop the whole show. Her sound was excellent moving from hit to hit!

  • Tanya Tucker was great!

by OldSouthernScrounger on 7/31/15Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a big fan of Tanya for years. But, I had never seen her in a live show. She put on a really good show for 1 hour & 20 minutes-with her earlier hits & some later ones. The crowd really got into the music. The event staff & security was excellent.

  • tanya @ Lake Charles' Golden Nugget

by growlerhill on 7/30/15Golden Nugget - Lake Charles - Lake CharlesRating: 4 out of 5

A very nice show featuring Tanya with a solid backing band. The Golden Nugget is one of the smaller concert venues, even for a casino, that I have been to, but if on is seated within the first half of the floor, it's fine-- particluarly, if the venue is projecting the performers on their side stage screens. The sound at the venue was also very goo, contrary to what another review says. Throughout Tanys 84-minute set, she included many of her hit songs and even had Jo-el Sonnier come on stage to help with Texas (When I Die) and Jimmy C. Newman's "Alligator Man"
