Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

  • Better late than never...

She came out 16 minutes late, but other than that TT sounded really good. Voice as good as ever. The band was mostly acoustic (no drums, keyboards, stand up bass, acoustic guitar), which enhanced the experience. She also interacted with the audience well.

  • Tanya Tucker was awesome!

I went to this event alone as it was rescheduled and could not find anyone to go with. But I was not disappointed. Had a great seat and loved every minute of her show. It went by too quickly. I would like to see her again if she comes near to where I live.

  • Great!

TANYA!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! If you've never seen this LEGEND before or even if you have, I emplore you to see her again . She is touring with a new acoustic show that showcases her her God given talent to the max !! She performs her classic hits with songs that she's never done before and if anyone ever thought she was over Glen Campbell , a tearjerkerking rendintion of "By the time I get to Phoenix " should answer that . She sings with all the fire and passion that made her the legend she is !! I've seen Tanya at least 20 times over the past 30 some omggggg years and she just keeps getting better !! Keep rocking Miss T and we'll be in the seats !!!!

Wonderful concert; voice is perfect TNT dynamite...has not changed through the years, she still gets the crowd excited and really enjoyed the whole 90 minutes. Loved her speaking to the crowd and telling little quips about life.

  • Tanya wasn't herself

    by Tuckerhead90 on 2/21/16The Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

I was a little disappointed overall. I am not from Alexandria and was there ONLY to see her. When the show was cancelled, I stayed in town for a couple of more days because I didn't want to miss the show. I sat outside in the snow and cold for 9 hours because I wanted to make sure I had a seat in the front. I thought from the moment she walked on stage that she just wasn't herself; maybe she didn't want to be there. I felt as though she was quick to get through her songs.......and the songs of other artists. I didn't feel as though she engaged with her fans much and when the show ended, she left very quickly. I've been a fan for about 30 years and have never had anything negative to say in reference to Tanya, as she is my favorite and the reason I listen to any country music. I felt let down considering the venue is set up to be more intimate and personal and she didn't really acknowledge her fans. I also know that Tanya is humble and has always been appreciative of her fans and has shown her appreciation and gratefulness. I was disappointed that with venue being as small as it was that she wouldn't give any attention to any of them. Would've been nice after driving so far and staying so long, to have met her.

  • As good as Ever!

The venue and Tanya Tucker were great! One of the best live performances I have seen in years. It was delightful to hear the music of my youth. You still got it girl!

  • Tanya Tucker had a great show

The venue at the Hard Rock is really pretty nice. I've been to several concerts an really have not had a bad seat yet. Tanya Tucker really had a great show, she kept her audience involved and shared stories. Her voice to me sounded as good or better than ever.

  • Tanya Tucker :(

by Troubleinmyheart on 2/21/16Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park Hard Rock Live - NorthfieldRating: 2 out of 5

This was my first time to a live event at the rocksino. The venue was very quaint and our seats were pretty amazing. With the right artist it would have felt like an amazing party for me and all of my friends. But....the artist just gave us an overall feeling of sadness. I didn't even want to gamble when it was over. I wanted to go home and go to bed. Sorry Tanya, I'll stick to my CDs. I will definitely love to attend another event here though. I still think it could be an awesome venue!

  • Tanya Tucker A must see!!!!

by Hhoward on 2/21/16Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park Hard Rock Live - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing evening with Tanya Tucker, loved the acoustic set so intimate and relaxed, much better than a large production. Tanya knocked it out of the park. She still sounds and looks amazing. Best evening.

  • Tanya still has her pipes

by FrakF on 2/20/16Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

The years show. Tanya started singing professionally in 1972 at the age of 13. However, her voice remains strong and true. She gave an exceptional performance!

  • Tanya a little disengaged

by Fredericksburger on 2/20/16Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 3 out of 5

I've seen Tanya at least 10 times, but not in the past few years. Once an engaging performer, amongst the best I'd ever seen, Tanya was very uncomfortable on stage and chose to sing hits of other performers (George Jones, Merle Haggard, Eagles, Tammy Wynette) in place of many songs of her own catalogue that she ignored. Short show, missing the sparkle that she is (was) famous for.

  • Have always been a fan of Tanya Tucker.

by Anonymous on 2/20/16Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a fan of Tanya Tucker since she first started at the age of 13, It was the first time we got to see her in concert. The friends that we went with have seen her three times. The only song that she didn't sing that I wanted to hear was "San Antonio Stroll". The concert was wonderful and we even bought her CD after the show and listened to it before we went to bed that night. Before we went to the concert I had been listening to a great George Jones song (Window Up Above) and I was wondering if Tanya ever sang that and what do you know she sang it th=at night and it as great. The next day I found her singing it on you tube.
