Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

Tanya had her first concert at the mother church! The audience gave her so much love! She had numerous guests, including Billy Ray Cyrus and Johnny Rodriguez! Country Music lovers like me enjoyed her band and family back up singers.....no dancers or fireworks needed. Thanks Tanya for a memorable historical show! 🌹🌹🌹

Everything, from starting the show with the young, but very talented Alex Hall, to Tanya ending the show with her classic Delta Dawn! The experience of getting to be there LIVE was extremely exciting and worthwhile! Tanya was open to interacting with her audience, which made her more personable, and fun to see! It was fantastic! TCB!

Had a wonderful time. Not too crowded, audience was having so much fun singing along.

  • Overall a pleasant, entertaining concert.

    by M. N. on 12/10/19Edgewater E Center - LaughlinRating: 3 out of 5

Negatively, the venue seating offered obstructed views as it was all on the same level. I wish Tanya Tucker had been more interactive with the audience; it appears she was focused on her recent Seattle visit & the song writers she encountered, which was meaningless to most of the attendees. On a positive note, her voice still carries a punch, and she is in extraordinary shape. The venue, being held in a tent, had surprisingly good acoustics & was adequately warm.

  • Tanya Tucker - Still one of the Greatest

    by BullheadBart on 12/10/19Edgewater E Center - LaughlinRating: 4 out of 5

Although the Venue was way too hot and Tanya was 30 minutes late starting, overall it was a great show. She has the voice of an angel. It was fun watching her interact with the audience reading notes, talking with them and signing autographs. She was very personal and not stuffy like many performers. Also, a shout out to the Edge Water E-Center. My seat was next to two obese people and I had about a half seat with the ladies arm sitting across my chest. The manager reseated both my wife and me to the 2nd row. Great night. I LOVE Laughlin!

by GiGi on 12/4/19Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

So this was her favorite concert, due to being such a small, intimate venue. ViVi ( my granddaughter) loved seeing T, she wants to see her again....soon. She has ranked this at the top with other artists she saw this year....Elton John, Lukas Nelson, Nathaniel Ratliff. She can’t wait til next year to see more great shows. šŸ’œ

  • Awesome experience at the Tanya show

by Love TT on 12/4/19Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Tanya sounded amazing. The Birchmere was a great venue for her, the atmosphere fit the stories she sang. She connected to her audience and was so down-to-earth and so humble about the blessings in her life. She's real. Her set was great, all the hits and songs she just sang her heart out on. She told personal stories and her emotion about those stories was reflected in her singing. I have always been a fan. She and I are about the same age and her maturity, humility, and love of life are so inspiring. Tanya rocks :)
