Tanya Tucker on Tour

From the beginning of her career, when she was a teenager who sounded like someone way beyond her years, Tanya Tucker has been blessed with an uncommonly expressive voice. Throughout her artistic evolution over the decades, that's never changed. To this day, when you catch the country legend in concert, you're listening to a singer who can tell a story in song like nobody else. And what's country music about, if not telling stories? Whether she's delivering some of her earliest hits, like "Delta Dawn" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," digging into later material, or changing things up completely with covers of tunes by the likes of the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen, Tucker approaches each performance of every song like it's the most important one of her life — because in that moment, it is.

Tanya Tucker in Concert

Tanya Tucker has blazed a long and singular path in country music, starting in 1972 when the shockingly precocious singer, only 13 years old at the time, debuted with her hit "Delta Dawn" (before Helen Reddy ever recorded it). With a musical maturity that made her sound unquestionably adult, she churned out a string of No. 1 country hits while she was still in her teens, songs like "What's Your Mama's Name" and "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)." And of course the hits kept coming after she moved on to actual adulthood, with Tucker maintaining a presence in the Country Top 10 all the way into the late '90s. She's always had an outlaw attitude that set her apart from the pack — for instance, she released a rock 'n' roll album in 1979, when such things were unheard of for mainstream country stars. So her appeal has lasted, existing outside the constantly changing trends of country. For instance, when she released 2019's While I'm Livin', her first album in a decade, enough people were paying attention to ensure that the record made it into the Top 10 on the Country Album charts.

It was a perfect concert. The only complaint I have is how smoky the casino is. Needs better ventilation.

Great Show! Tanya did not disappoint. Also a fun venue. No bad seat in the house and a very cool old building. Improvement could be done to make exiting easier but that is my only complaint.

  • This venue is great! The entertainment was great!

Tanya Tucker was GREAT! This venue leaves Intrust in the dust! She sang lots of old favorites and a few new ones. Seating was comfortable. Parking wasn't too bad to locate and walk. Soft drinks were a little pricey, don't know about alcoholic beverages. The only problem was that there is no restroom on the balcony floor. I loved the whole show! The opener was good - definitely up and coming.

It was my first time to this Venue. All employees were so nice and helpful. We had a great time other than the four very loud and obnoxious gals behind us who talked the entire time through Brandy Clark. When they continued with Tanya, I finally stood up beside the wall so that I could hear Tanya.

The concert was great but the venue needs improvement. The elevators were lacking. One was not in operation the other did not seem to be working at the end, stranding some with handicaps as the stairs were too steep. The bathrooms were also lacking. Acoustics were good also

Coming from Connecticut. To grand central station to Town Hall was the easiest trip for a concert. Then Tanya Tucker gave incredible performance. Definitely recommend venue.

  • Concert started late

    by HS33 on 2/10/20Town Hall - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Loved the performances... but the main event started 2 hours after “show time” was listed. I wish we knew how long the openers were going to play because we had to leave the concert early to catch our train. Such a bummer!

  • Tanya Tucker

by Frankie on 2/10/20Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the most thrilling concerts I've ever been to. All Tanya's fans were in the house, and they really gave her a spectacular, almost 5 minute ovation after "Texas (When I Die)". She was in great voice, and did a satisfying mix of old & new material. It's always great when a star makes a come-back, and the audience is really enthusiastic. She was given tons of flowers. I was very happy to get my ticket on my phone, so access was easy. Thank you, Ticket Master, and thank you Town Hall for having a lady who really belonged on that stage.
