    Flawless

by Shelly4Me on 7/14/12Club Nokia - Los Angeles

This was my first TD concert so I did not know what to expect since I was attending with a long-time fan. The performance was flawless. The entire group are talented musicians.

I was glad Edgar and I have survived

by daveb276 on 7/14/12LA Live - Club Nokia - Los Angeles

It is unfortunate that Edgar did not explain to the newbies what to expect before the show. I was glad to see the "kids" that Edgar added to the line-up. They were able to add animation to the show and like Edgar has said he can play with one finger what would have taken 5 hands some 40 years ago. Tangerine Dream used to stretch the limits of technology to achieve their sound. Today any kid with a computer can achieve their sound. So instead today's concert is an audio visual experience. It was delightful not to have to suffer through some mindless opening act and still the music was the star. One reviewer some 40 years ago asked if Tangerine Dream would be the end of rock music and unfortunately we have lived long enough to find out that the answer has been no. Today we seem to focus on personalities. I always went to a show for the music. Today's shows are long on personalities and short on the music. I suppose I sound like a jaded concert goer but I expect the music to take me somewhere. Normally I now expect to spend more time being shuffled around (and don't get me started on the so called "security"). So if you attended the concert to experience the music and the visuals - then no doubt you were suitably impressed. The concert was all about music - continuous music that was bridged from tune to tune - you had to be careful to applaud because no one signaled the end of a melody and seldom even made contact with the audience. So I had a wonderful time getting lost in the event and not wasting my time looking for queues or - heaven forbid - sing along opportunities. it has been slightly over 40 years since I interviewed David Gilmour. I was delighted there was a meet and great after today's show - I was equally impressed with Edgar's musings about the music (since Pink Floyd was a big influence on Tangerine Dream in their formative years). Anyway you need to see Tangerine Dream before you die. If you go to concerts for the music you will be delighted. The biggest surprise for me was the lack of people (not that I was particularly bothered). I am surprised that more folks didn't attend. This will go in my memory as one of the most unforgettable concerts I have ever been to (and I have been to a lot of concerts in my lifetime)

    TDreamJuly2012

by NYCOctober2009Visitor on 7/14/12Club Nokia - Los Angeles

I would see Tangerine Dream any time they are around, in a heartbeat. Just one comment and that is not on the group but rather the venue. The lighting can be disconcerting. I have seen lighting done very well at some other venues and this is the only sort of criticism of Club Nokia. Otherwise it is my favorite venue in Los Angeles.

    Part 2 - excellent audience

by Ringling on 7/12/12Best Buy Theater - New York

Tangerine Dream has the nicest fans, I met a few of them and they were so wonderful. TD fans were realy enjoying the music and were really into it. One of the performers, a woman was a musical virtuoso. She went from the saxophone to the keyboards to a flute and then a clarinet during the long show. Very impressive musicians !

    Title 1

by JohnJoseph on 7/11/12Howard Theatre - Washington

i will get the perceived lack of things that could have happened at the concert out of the way first. They did not play any of Rubycon or Alpha Centauri, two of the albums I have listened to frequently in my past. As foretold on their publicity on the internet cyberspace forum, all of the people in the above photograph were there. Edgar Froese's son was not at the concert. However, as could have been predicted, it was a psychedelic oriented show. There was not enough synthesizer work for the duration of the concert. Apparently those in that department were obligated through the realities of todays working conditions of willing to share time and space with others to let that perceived quality of the concert become apparent.

TD played a great mix of favorites from the past that brought back many pleasant memories. Edgar is still going strong after 45 years in the business! Linda, Iris, Thorsten and Bernhard all played flawlessly for just shy of 3 hours. Inspite of listening to TD for over 2 decades, I'm sorry to say this was the first time I'd had the opportunuty to see them live.

    Electric Mandarine was Sweet

by TangDream on 7/11/12Best Buy Theater - New York

The gig was brilliant although the start was delayed by about 35 minutes. They performed a lot of their older and newer compositions and I think that they impressed a lot of the fairly small audience, at least compared to their shows in the UK, who hopefully will spread the word about this legendary band who unfortunately have lost some of their pull in the USA. I hope after this two week tour in the States that will change and they will see an increase in popularity especially if they start doing movie scores again in the next year or so.

I believe they went beyond what I expected. The musical talent was definitely there. I particularly enjoyed the hot female drummer who unlike who fellow band members looked like she enjoyed performing. The videos were very 70's which was very cool. The fact that the rest of the band members showed little or no emotion was really kind of bizarre and unnatural; and I loved it so. They played much longer than I expected. It was worth every buck I spent. On another note, I found the $10 minimum to buy food/drinks was pretty damn pushy at the Howard Theatre. On top of that, an employee was hawking candy in the men's room downstairs; kind of tough to urinate under those circumstances. Bottom line, the performance was fantastic. I would go see them again in a heartbeat.

Tangerine Dream at the Howard Theatre.

by ChrisDonaho on 7/10/12Howard Theatre - Washington

I drove 28 hours from Texas to see this show in Washington DC. I had very high expectations and they exceeded them all. The venue was perfect and classy. It was easy to get in and get seated, and the food/drinks were incredible. Tangerine Dream did not disappoint. They played for almost 3 hours, covering a span of their music from old to new. I'd drive another 28 hours to see them again. Easily the best concert I've ever attended.

    Tangerine Dream Rocks!

by 75Chute on 7/10/12Best Buy Theater - New York City

Tangerine Dream was outstanding! I have been a fan for decades. I last saw them in the mid-eighties. I am so glad I made the New York show. I can say with no doubt that the show was truly great. Fantastic! Awesome! Edgar Froese is a true master at the electronic music art form.

Great show but valet steals my parking ticket

by DreamerTangeriner on 7/10/12Howard Theatre - Washington

The incredible Tangerine Dream. The show started promptly at 8:00 pm. It was almost a 3 hour show. They played mostly their hits from the early albums like Ricochet, Stratosfear, Going West etc. and some newer compositions with the current line up. As always it was excellently performed with great visuals and instrumentation. Highly recommended to any one who is an old or new fan or anyone who wants to have a great live show. Howard theater is a nice venue for a band like TD since it is very compact and very audible. The air conditioning is not really working well which is acceptable since no AC can hardly cope up with this current summer heat wave. A big disappointment is the park attendant who took away my $15 park ticket which could have been a great concert momento, He is supposed to tear the stub and return the entire ticket to me but he took off with it. I explained to him and asked for it and he said he can't speak and understand English and run away. I am not sure if this is policy but in my past concerts, they get the left portion or stub and you get the entire ticket as your souvenir. I demand that my park ticket be returned to me and this never happened again. But overall it was an excellent show by a legendary and iconic band Tangerine Dream.

Great performance of the great band

    by Gene47 on 7/10/12Howard Theatre - Washington

This was a very pleasant and enjoyable event for people who really love electronic music. Knowing this band for many years, it was a great excitement to see all of them on stage, performing live music (actually very recognizable for TD fans). Absolutely memorable and spectacular evening.

The concert that wouldn't end. Where to begin...

by Ringling on 7/10/12Best Buy Theater - modern, well air conditioned, spacious and excellent accomodations / ladies room - New York

I learned about Tangerine Dream ever since seeing the film Legend where my fave song is played at the end, Jon Anderson's Loved By The Sun. I also am familiar with the Sorcerer soundtrack. This should be called the concert that would never end. The venue would not let us in one minute before the 7:00pm door time after a long line wait. Then , there was another 90 minute wait inside before the 8:36pm start time of the show. Tangerine Dream is technically perfect, they are excellent musicians - very impressive. The sound quality was outstanding. At 10:00pm a 1/2 hour intermission was announced. At 10:30 another 90 minute set began. This was followed by a couple encores and some chatter for the audience. The thing with this type of instrumental music is that after a while it all starts to sound the same, with the exception of Loved By The Sun. I was expecting more music from the Legend / Sorcerer soundtracks, i.e., "Darkness" / " Abyss ". I respect Tangerine Dream and the New Age sound they are known for but the show was too long and when it was over it was midnite and I was hungry and couldn't look forward to getting dinner at any fave restaurants in Times Square, which sucked. Plus I was greeting with a thunder shower upon exiting the venue. No one should leave a concert feeling exhausted and hungry.

I've followed Tangerine dream for 26 years. I couldn't believe how awsome they performed there was so much energy coming from their performance. Not to bad for a band that's been playing for 45 years with over150 albums and also have 7 Grammy Nominations wonderfully!!!!

    A Night to Remember

by sevans777 on 7/9/12Best Buy Theater - NYC

Great show. Hope that they continue to tour in the US. The last time I had the opportunity to see them was back in 1992. The music is timeless and the band played extremely well live. The venue however was not the best choice. Best Buy was standing room only and for a 3+ hour show (8-12) was rough. There are countless places they could have performed: the Beacon or Westbury Nokia or even Jones beach would been better.

    Amazing show

by Perception on 7/9/12Best Buy Theater - New York

Pioneers in electronic music, even with one original funding member they did not loose one step, if anything, they only got better.
