Tampa Bay Lightning History
The Tampa Bay Lightning joined the league as an expansion team (along with the Ottawa Senators) in 1992, and earned their first berth in the Playoffs in the 1995-1996 season. The Bolts began to achieve consistent success in 2002-2003; the key ingredient was 1998 first-round draft pick Vincent Lecavalier, a center who went on to play 14 seasons for the Lightning and set almost every team scoring record.
After making the second round in the 2002-2003 Playoffs, the Bolts rocketed to the Stanley Cup Final the following season behind the league's scoring leader, Martin St. Louis, the goaltending of Nikolai Khabibulin, and the efforts of Lecavalier, Brad Richards, Fredrik Modin, Ruslan Fedotenko, Cory Stillman, and captain Dave Andreychuk. The Lightning defeated the Calgary Flames in a Stanley Cup Final that included four games decided by one goal, two of which came in overtime. Fedotenko scored both goals in the clinching 2-1 victory in Game 7.
The Lightning flirted with Playoff success the next two seasons, but struggled for three years after that. After bringing in Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman as general manager, the team returned to the Playoffs in 2010-2011, 2013-2014, and again the following season, when the Bolts — boasting the highest-scoring offense in the league — won 50 games, and the Eastern Conference title. They dispatched the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, and New York Rangers in a hard-fought series en route to the Stanley Cup Final, where they ultimately lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.
Powered by the scoring of Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos, the Lightning contended again in 2015-2016, only to be turned away in the conference finals by the eventual winner of the Stanley Cup Championship, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Lightning subsequently went on to win back-to-back titles, taking home the Stanley Cup Championship in 2020 and 2021, becoming the first-ever team to win two Stanley Cup Championships within one year. The Lightning appeared in the championship again in 2022, but lost to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 6.

Tampa Bay Lightning at AMALIE Arena
After undergoing renovations from 2011-2013, AMALIE Arena is considered to be one of the premier entertainment venues in Florida. The Tampa Bay Lightning’s 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Lightning face off against the Nashville Predators. The Lightning play their final game of the regular season at home against Atlantic Division opponents the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

This Event was awesome. It is a nice Arena on the Riverwalk in Tampa, I like that and I will come back. One star less only for the very expensive Food and beverages.
Great seats at reasonable price. Amenities at venue excellent. Ticketing process easy and convenient.
Great Venue and friendly staff, Club seats were good, nice amenities and good sight lines worth the extra $$.
Lightning games are always awesome at the Amalie Arena. Great entertainment, concessions just cost way too much...
Fantastic experience! Venue was immaculate and the staff was courteous. Food and beverages were awesome! Mr Vinnick and the organization should be proud of the product they put on the ice, and the staff they have to support it. I will support their organization as I am able to.
Parking was pricey but easy to find across the street, food at the SamWharf was amazing and very reasonable, Amalie Arena thunderzone is fantastic and the venue is outstanding. Not a bad seat in the house, we were 322 row M and loved the game. Lots of great concessions, a little something for everyone. Best venue we have ever been into in a long time!!!
The ticket-buying was easy. I even needed to buy extra tickets and was able to get some in the row right in front of the original tickets. The entry process went smoothly, scanning the barcodes from my phone. The game was exciting because of the number of goals scored (9). This is the second game I've gone to this year and the second time the Lightning have scored 9 goals (I also went to the 9-3 victory over the Rangers on Nov. 14 ). Ticketmaster is the way to go.
From the moment we stepped out of the elevator from our very convenient prepaid parking spot directly into “Thunder Alley”. Is was an experience like no other sporting event we have attended and that’s before the hockey game even started. The hockey game was also terrific. Highly recommend the experience
Had a great time attending a hockey game. Great arena, clean, friendly staff, easy access and close parking options. Would definitely not hesitate to attend another game or any event at Amelie arena. I purchased wheelchair seating and found it to be easily accessed no problems navigating to our seats or to restrooms. Had fun, can't wait to go again. Temperature a little cool for hockey game, definitely recommend bringing a sweater or jacket.
We had a good night at the lightning game but the price of the food and drink make no sense at all. 7$ for a bootle of pop is way too high when the value of that is 0.25$ in a store.
Party on the plaza, quick check in, great seats (we were in the nose bleeds), good food, the bar spot on terrain terrace was fun! The game had everything even a Gordie Howe Hatrick. Goals, Assists, and Fights! The only thing was the audio wasn’t the best- couldn’t understand refs or understand what was being said during commercial break videos, etc.
Parking was really hard on the handicap caretaker. Trying to pick up after game over wasn’t easy, was detoured out of Amelia area & had to circle back to get to the pick point, main entrance. People that weren’t handicap bought handicap seats! No handicap seats for people who really needed it. Sat hubby in the beer garden to watch off of the tv screen. Had to by a ticket to get in the facility but couldn’t get hubby up to the seats.
Amalie Arena is always a great place for any event. The team is always friendly and helpfull. The venue is always clean. Just wish seats were a little less expensive and a little roomier. Tampa Bay Lightening is a great sports organization and team. Thank you to the players for still being respectful to the community and our service members and our national anthem. Let's go Bolts!
Loving that you can get so close to the ice for the pregame skate. Seats are all comfortable, all give good views of the ice. Fans were generally in a good mood (well behaved) even though the Lightning were losing. Overall a good experience, though the prices for beer - outrageous! And the parking fees are beyond ridiculous as well, though I guess that is to be expected. All this being said, next time we are in Tampa we will be attending a Bolts game...
Attended the game as part of my brother's birthday celebration. Even before we entered, it was fun. They had a live band out front rocking the entrance, which was cool. Amalie is a decent place with lots of concessions booths and a good beer selection. They had an outdoor beer garden with Bud on the roof overlooking the band, which was cool as well. The only negative is that the bathrooms were very small. The walk to the seats wasn't overly steep and the seats themselves were comfortable and had a drink holder on their backs, limiting my spillage. In spite of being a vocal part part of the 'enemy', the fans were not rude or abusive.
Security check in slow. Otherwise good experience.
Was told there was no where to vape and if I went outside to vape, I would not be allowed back in. My wife and I left early for that reason. Very doubtful we'll be back to Amalie Arena.
It was the best experience I could have asked for going there for the first time.
Amelia arena is one of the better layed out arenas in NHL. Easy in easy out and the fans where great. Very friendly place 100% recommend. Only one con is public transit does not go far enough.
It was easy to get to the event, there were plenty of places to eat and it was also very easy to leave the event. Very well organized.
