Tampa Bay Lightning History
The Tampa Bay Lightning joined the league as an expansion team (along with the Ottawa Senators) in 1992, and earned their first berth in the Playoffs in the 1995-1996 season. The Bolts began to achieve consistent success in 2002-2003; the key ingredient was 1998 first-round draft pick Vincent Lecavalier, a center who went on to play 14 seasons for the Lightning and set almost every team scoring record.
After making the second round in the 2002-2003 Playoffs, the Bolts rocketed to the Stanley Cup Final the following season behind the league's scoring leader, Martin St. Louis, the goaltending of Nikolai Khabibulin, and the efforts of Lecavalier, Brad Richards, Fredrik Modin, Ruslan Fedotenko, Cory Stillman, and captain Dave Andreychuk. The Lightning defeated the Calgary Flames in a Stanley Cup Final that included four games decided by one goal, two of which came in overtime. Fedotenko scored both goals in the clinching 2-1 victory in Game 7.
The Lightning flirted with Playoff success the next two seasons, but struggled for three years after that. After bringing in Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman as general manager, the team returned to the Playoffs in 2010-2011, 2013-2014, and again the following season, when the Bolts — boasting the highest-scoring offense in the league — won 50 games, and the Eastern Conference title. They dispatched the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, and New York Rangers in a hard-fought series en route to the Stanley Cup Final, where they ultimately lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.
Powered by the scoring of Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos, the Lightning contended again in 2015-2016, only to be turned away in the conference finals by the eventual winner of the Stanley Cup Championship, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Lightning subsequently went on to win back-to-back titles, taking home the Stanley Cup Championship in 2020 and 2021, becoming the first-ever team to win two Stanley Cup Championships within one year. The Lightning appeared in the championship again in 2022, but lost to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 6.

Luv the Bolts and the great time at Amalie Arena. Go Bolts!!!!!
5-2 Great Seats and saw our Chicago Black Hawks defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa.. Great Day.. Thank You
Amelie arena has a great outdoor area offering entertainment before and after the game. Additionally the Budweiser Beer Garden stays open after the game providing a perfect opportunity to celebrate (or commiserate) the score. Great atmosphere and comfortable seats!
We've been here 3 times now and it always delivers. This is a fantastic arena with no bad seat in the barn. The staff are great and you're treated well inside and out from the time you get there, until youve cleared the neighborhood on the way home. The sound, the lights and the play stoppage distractions are first rate.
Been lightning fans for years. Over here from London for husbands 60th birthday Came to game with our best friends who were at a hockey game for the first time ever and we all had a brilliant time. The lightning won as well!!!
Great game and even better seats I am going to look for these same seats whenever I go back to Amelie arena
This was our first experience at the Amalie Arena... tight seating. I’m tall and my fiancé is short. Neither of us could easily get to our seat even when those sitting around us stood up. Sitting down was a challenge. My knees were close to the back of the person in front of me. I would probably not return for an event there. Loved Tampa just not the arena
Parking too expensive but I understand. Make announcement for attendees to be respectful when the puck is in play.
The staff and fans were very helpful and nice. Food was good but very expensive. Not sure i like the fan pricing, just my thought. Sound system really needs to be looked at. We were in 307, against the wall and could not hear or understand 98%. Been in many NHL stadiums and always sit in the 300’s. All on all happy to have been there. There could have been more traffic directors in the area pre game. Thanks
Enjoyed the game , atmosphere. Easy access to game. Staff was friendly. Two complaints Visual was constantly impeded by safely rails. Gone to other arenas and not had this. Also they lowered prices on food and beverage prices but they are still too high
Everything went smooth in regards to ticket purchase and check-in at the game. Your app worked well.
We get together once a year for dinner and a game and this year we enjoyed it more because we could see the game better - had better seats and our team (the Leafs) won a close one. Great rink to see the game although it is too loud (my ears were ringing all night long when I got home.
We had a blast! This was my first NHL game and the arena could not have been more perfect. I have a mobility disability and the arena was fairly accessible and the staff was very helpful guiding us in the right direction.
Hi, I wish I could give you a great review, but unfortunately, West Jet wouldn't let us board our flight on Sunday morning, as we were late and missed their cut off check in time. We had lots of hiccups that morning and in my opinion, we still had plenty of time to get on that plane, but apparently, they have their "guidelines" to follow, so we were refused boarding, and no other options were available to get out of town that were feasible, so our vacation in Florida was cancelled abruptly. The game looked great from the comfort of my couch at home in Toronto, but I sure would have liked to be there to cheer on my team! Sorry for your loss!
Big crowd poor entrance organization not enough bathroom areas Not enough space between seats
Overall, it was a good time, however a couple of things need to be mentioned. First off, the entire venue is a no smoking area, and there is no readmittance if you leave. A couple years ago, this was not the case. This policy should be plainly noted . Also, the parking is much worse, the smaller lots are now construction areas. Between the parking and road closures, it added another 45 minutes to the trip home.
Had the best time. Ushers were great and the Amalie arena is so good and fun.
Using the mobile ticket was simple. I received multiple reminders with instructions on how to use the tickets so the attention to detail was impressive.
We will never go to the 4PM game again. Several events were still going on when we arrived for the game, which was 90 minutes before the game started. Our usual parking spots were full and we went to several other parking lots, before finding one with some spots available. My wife has a difficult time walking making it difficult for her.
From the fans to the food and beverages, the whole experience was great. Only complaint is a beer was 14.25 and I thought the beer at the Oilers game was expensive. :)
