Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team History

The Buccaneers joined the NFL as an expansion team and played their first game in 1976. During the 1979 season, the Buccaneers became the first post-merger expansion team to win a division championship, a playoff game and host and play in a conference championship. They went on to win seven more division championships and captured their first Super Bowl win in 2003.

The Bucs beat the Oakland Raiders 48-21 in Super Bowl XXXVIII in Head Coach Jon Gruden's first season, making him the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl at the time. With future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady under center, the Buccaneers went on to win their second Super Bowl title at Super Bowl LV in 2021.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium

Insiders refer to the 65,618-seat Raymond James Stadium as the NFL's “crown jewel,” thanks to massive 2016 renovations that added one of the most modern HD video systems in the league. Additionally, every time the Buccaneers score a touchdown or field goal, a pirate ship moored in Buccaneer Cove celebrates with cannon fire.

Raymond James Stadium hosted Super Bowl LV on February 7, 2021, during which the Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9. The game marked the first time in Super Bowl history that a team played a championship game on their home turf.

    Worst stadium and club

by Finman on 10/13/21Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Overcrowded, vendors can’t handle volume. More than a quarter to get a drink and another quarter to get food. The club is horrible. Plus completely exposed. No shade. No reprieve from the sun. Brutal. Never again. Outdated and unprepared venue.

    Tampa Bay Football

by YVF on 8/24/21Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

We recently went to the Buccaneers pre-season game against Tennessee. We secured tickets on Ticketmaster. The process was super easy. I was a little concerned that maybe the tickets wouldn’t display or the barcode wouldn’t work - all crazy worries. Everything went perfect and simple. Seats were great - the entire event was terrific. Fans were happy and respectful. Everyone around us were just having a great time. Food options were many and we had minimal wait teams to get what we wanted. Thank you. We look forward to the next experience - maybe a hockey game! YVF

    Lacking

by Rusty on 8/24/21Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

I went to see the bucks team play and all they did was put in their back-ups. Should have saved my money and watched from home.

Use the Jumbotron for the game

by Colts fans on 12/11/19Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Individual chairs were good. Not having people hawking drinks and souvenirs all over the place was good. Main complaint is that the Jumbotrons did not stop their game-break commercials and announcements when the game resumed; there was always at least a one-play delay -- aggravating, especially when many in front of us were standing during "normal" plays. Also on replays they often cut the replay off the Jumbotron before the play showing was over. Also, those throwing out beads during game-breaks did not stop right away when the game resumed -- again aggravating because people were standing in front of others to catch them and not watching the game.

Tampa Bay Bucs game and Raymond James Stadium

by Senator on 12/11/19Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

First off, I have not been to the Stadium for a few years and it was very impressive. The entertainment, the Jumbo Trons, the music, the announcing, everything was great!! The RV Parking was super easy to get in and out of also. There is really not a bad seat in the place, we had a great view of the game and all in attendance were very well behaved and no one standing in front of you or throwing things.

    Great day out.

    by J. K. on 12/11/19Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Always a great experience visiting Florida and catching a football game. New electronic tickets system worked a treat, no issues getting into the stadium or with parking. Great weather, and a fantastic game...definitely do it again.

    Terrible seats

    by M. T. on 12/11/19Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

I unfortunately bought from box office tickets. I quickly noticed the seats were high up. I immediately called and they wouldn’t change or cancel the tickets. I told them I was disabled. I was told oh they have elevators. I still had to try to get up the stairs and a terrible time getting there. Box office tickets are terrible

    Great experience

by Josie on 11/23/19Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

This was my first away game and the seat location was a great value. We did not encounter too much traffic to the game or upon leaving the game. It was really organized. The Buccaneer fans were respectable and it was great to see so many Arizona Cardinal fans present. The stadium has no relief from the Florida sun so bring a hat.
