  • Wish There Was More Blues

by Jake on 6/24/25Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

Set was almost entirely Caribbean style, with a steel drum and everything. I thought there would be more blues so it was disappointing. Venue let people stand in the aisle, which was distracting.

  • A living legend

I was blown away by his connection with the audience. He was just great and his band was so unique.

  • An ecstatic auditory experience

by Lana Banana on 3/7/24Luckman Fine Arts Complex - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a fan of Taj since childhood, when I would gather my family ‘round to sing Fishing Blues for them;) I never had the pleasure of experiencing his live performance, and I must say that his vocals and instrumentation were better than his original recordings in the 60’s/70’s, if that were possible! You truly feel you’re in the presence of a legend when you see him perform live, and I felt honored to be able to catch him. Keep on rockin Taj! We love you!

  • Terrific concert

One of the best concerts I have ever seen. Both performers were magical.

  • Not what we expected

by Mrs Milton on 2/26/24Luckman Fine Arts Complex - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

The “opener” played longer than the main act, who we had come specifically to see. And the opener wasn’t even the same genre of music, so we basically paid for tickets for a show we didn’t want to see. We recognize that Taj is in his later years, and might not be up for a whole show, but it wasn’t accurate to have him headline a show then.

  • Unforgettable show

by Jenna on 2/26/24Luckman Fine Arts Complex - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

What a nostalgic and incredibly talented show. Every person on stage is a true artist and to have the opportunity to experience this show in person was a gift. The opener, Sona Jobarteh, was incredibly amazing and will also be an experience I will never forget.

  • A great night out

by Jerry & Amber on 9/12/23Uptown Theater - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I did our date night at the Uptown. I am a Taj Mahal fan since the days of his appearance in the movie Sounder. The last time I saw him play was 30 years ago in a small club that seated about 150 people. His plane was delayed by two hours and people were given the option for a refund, but no one took it. In spite of Tag being 81, he and his quartet were just as electrifying as those days. their opening number was dedicated to the folks in Maui and Bobby Ingano's steel guitar work was beautiful and touching. The North Mississippi Allstars are great young musicians doing a fine job carrying the Blues torch. Los Lobos also are favorites from the soundtrack of our lives. All and all we had a memorable evening. Many thanks to the folks at the Uptown.

  • Rollin’ in my sweet baby’s arm

by Cabmando on 9/9/23Uptown Theater - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Taj and his quartet did not disappoint. He was jovial, story telling and good beyond expectations. His voice was still A+.
