Alone in the dark, with little more than her celluloid memories, Norma Desmond remains what she has always been — the greatest star of all.
This spring, she will reclaim the spotlight once more.
Glenn Close returns to Broadway in the tour de force performance that earned her the Tony Award for Best Actress – and a place in Broadway history – in Sunset Boulevard.
Featuring a 40-piece orchestra, the largest in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award®-winning masterwork of dreams and desire in the land called Hollywood comes to the Palace Theatre for a limited engagement following a sold out run in London’s West End.

Show was great. Loved having the orchestra on stage. It was not as distracting as I thought. Glenn Close was awesome.
Glenn Close was truly amazing! She was the character! Her co-stars were great and brought you back to the 50's. Highly recommend it!
Would see her again Glenn was amazing brought everyone to tears.
The Stars shined in the glow of the outstanding orchestra. Reinventing the visual while paying homage to the classic score has delivered Sunset Boulevard to 2017. Bravo!!!!
Seeing Sunset Boulevard on Broadway was a real treat. I had not seen the original production 20 years ago, so I had no expectations or comparisons to make. Also, I am not a great fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Nonetheless, what I experienced was a wonderful, surreal, and entrancing production. Seeing Ms. Glenn Close star in the role of Norma Desmond was phenomenal. She surely knows how to play 'crazy'! Ms. Close does not have the best voice in town, but she was able to sell the songs with her acting ability. It was clear that the audience was there primarily to experience Ms. Close, but I believe the audience got much more than that. The entire production was stellar. The 40-piece orchestra was situated on stage, and had a tremendous lush sound worthy of classic movies. Despite some other published reviews that said the orchestra sounded "thin", I believe the sound engineering and orchestration were perfect for the venue and for the size of the cast. In fact, the orchestra received an ovation that rivaled the one given to the cast members. The entire ensemble and set of principal players were excellent, delivering the precision and expertise expected on Broadway. The set was a bit minimalistic, but the set was not meant to be the star of this production. Instead, it allowed the human performers to take the starring roles they deserved. The lighting and special effects were very effective in lending a surreal quality to the production. Choreography, costuming, makeup - everything - was top notch.
What a fabulous show; starting with the full orchestra, it's like being at the Philharmonic. The music is wonderful, the acting superb and Glenn Close gives such an amazing performance.
This is one of the greatest plays I have seen. Glenn Close was wonderful! Michael Xavier's performance brought deep feelings for the character's sympathy toward Desmond. Fred Johansson's character also help to enhance my sympathy for Desmond. Siobhan Dillon was also wonderful. The story was touching and beautifully brought to life with superb acting and singing by all cast members. The staging was excellent. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am now planning to see it again with friends.
A lifetime theatrical experience not to be missed.
Great show! Entire cast was great and music was terrific. Glenn Close was nothing short of amazing.
This is a must see. Glenn Close was wonderful to see live on stage, but she is not the only star -- a great cast and great casting. Loved the music. Loved the show.
Great show! Glenn Close was unbelievable! The entire cast is incredibly talented. Thank you for a great show !
Excellent performance - Ms. Close was spectacular!
Loved the production -- scenery, lighting, actors. I did not see the original production 20 years ago. I understand Glen Close was amazing then, but she has really owns the part now. Since 69 is the new 49, her Norma Desmond is even more desperate for attention and fitting for this time. The London cast is wonderful and they compliment each other very well. The large orchestra on stage made it feel very "old Hollywood" and was genius. The only thing that bothered me is the body - it was suspended throughout the show and then was lowered into the "pool." Since I was sitting in the Mezzanine, it was distracting.
Norma was the greatest star of them all. Max was her equal. Joe was awesome. And Betty was an amazing standout—apparently her Broadway debut. She truly was unforgettable. It was so fun to be with the entire ensemble.
It was the best musical in my life. No question about it. Crying and crying.
Seeing Glenn Close and the amazing cast of Sunset Boulevard's performance was nothing short of exhilirating! These were performances of a lifetime, a show not to be missed. It's not surprising that we (the audience) stopped the show to give Ms. Close a standing ovation after one song and then applauded her at the end for FOUR returns. I hope you have the privilege of seeing such an amazing performance.
I was afraid I was expecting to much -Glenn Close's performance was spectacular. Her stage presence was amazing. She walked onto the stage and the audience went wild. I will never forget her performance. The entire cast was great but I couldn't take my eyes off Glenn Close - I didn't want to miss a single hand gesture or move.
The performance was unforgettable. All of the performers were super but seeing Glen Close perform was spectacular. The Palace Theatre was amazing and comfortable. Truly enjoyed the performance and would highly recommend.
Fortunate to see the production 22 years ago and Ms Close performance was unforgettable. Didn't think it was possible but she far exceeds her last performance as Ms. Desmond. Even though very familiar with story I found myself at the edge of my seat waiting to see what Ms. Close Norma would do next. I was transfixed on the character and found the rest of the cast to be simply supportive of the masterful Ms. Close.
