Seeing Periphery and Animals as Leaders made the show very worthwhile. Their performances were top notch. The other bands on the tour were good but I really wasn't there to see them. All in all, the show was well worth the money.
if you have never seen dillinger escape plan live you better get on it
Great venue, clear sound (some bands had sound issues which were quickly addressed and fixed after the first or second song), very nice environment (the venue is in Downtown Disney). I'm not a smoker so I personally enjoyed that smoking wasn't aloud BUT! There was a designated smoking section for those who do. Also it was great that water was provided.
WIth the exception of Norma Jean, every band was amazing. For those of you rude people that fled immediately following Animals As Leaders, you missed what was without question the best band of the evening. It is this crap that Florida crowds do that makes so many bands skip Florida altogether when touring. I've seen shows all over the country and it is not like this elsewhere, at least not that I have seen. Congrats DEP, you were amazing yet again.
Dillinger killed it, always one of the heaviest shows around
Every year they find a good headliner and have tons and tons of other bands playing for 10 hours way worth your money
summer slaughter was totally fun and brutal, but i wish more people moshed, except for the end, thats when it got pretty good. im disappointed periphery couldnt make it tho. shout out to nekrogoblikon, if you didnt hear em on the side stage, yo umissed out, they were pretty awesome
brutal as hell, awesome bands, amazing mosh pits!!
Kick ass show....kick ass show eveyone of the bands got better and better
most of the bands were great the ones that werent were ok too and the great ones made up for their suckiness.
The energy of the bands was excellent, and so was the sound quality. My only recommendation is to show up early, so you can see Cerebral Bore. I'm not sure why CB is being made to play so early, but they were phenomenal!
Show up late and watch cannibal corpse trust me you won't miss anything worth watching. There shouldn't be a guy playing keyboards at a death metal show. Obituary is coming to Albany in September. That will be a real death metal show
This concert was pretty amazing! The first few bands (Cerebral Bore, Exhumed, Goatwhore) was pure noise, though; couldn't even get the crowd pumped. This concert really got started when Job For A Cowboy, the fifth band on the tour, went on stage! Crazy set for the right tour! Veil of Maya the crowd even more hyped! Periphery, one o the bands I REALLY came to see, was beyond expectation, ESPECIALLY since Sponce's voice has improved immensely AND their new album was bound to be part of their set! The Faceless was unbelievable, but truth be told, even though their better than Veil of Maya, Veil Of Maya got me hyped better. And finally the act I've really wanted to see, Between the Buried and Me! What else can I say they're friggin amazing musicians who know how to put on a live show! They played some of their old, one of their newest. Best scenario would have been instead of an hour long set, an hour and half... or two... or maybe three? Whatever BtBaM, was my main event and I didn't even stick around for Cannibal Corpse.
It's hard to go wrong with an all-afternoon extreme metal festival featuring some of the legends of the genre with its rising stars. This should have been cake for the Masquerade, which has put on so many similar shows. I don't know what it is about the last couple of months, but it seems like every major venue in Atl has forgotten how to queue people. Both the Masq and Lakewood screwed up early entry, and I don't recall ever standing in a line quite like what we had last Wednesday. The Masq moved a way bigger crowd way faster for BLS in 2010. What the hell happened? The show itself was good, overall. Exhumed had the best performance of the night. Cannibal Corpse might have gotten too old for this. Extreme metal doesn't usually "park and bark" but there was CC, rooted to their spots onstage as if they were planted there. I watched the pit through their set, because that's where the real energy in the room was.
Defiantly going to next years. I hope it kicks as much ass as this one.
All of the bands were phenomenal. The opening act, Cerebral Bore, was fantastic and probably turned a few heads since their singer was female. All of the acts were great and stood out in their own way.
Goatwhore and Exhumed were awesome! Had a great time, but I didn't care for a couple of the other bands too much. No fault to the venue or the bands, but the show would have been much better if some idiot didn't make a threat that got all of us pushed out onto the street in Ybor for over an hour.
I heard some new bands, found some new favorites. The music was great. I would have paid more money to attend. It was a freakin' deal, the great music for pennies.
Had a great time at the Summer Slaughter! Lots of good bands and lots of crowd interaction!
