  • Outstanding concert

by Glenn on 12/3/23City Hall Live - BrandonRating: 5 out of 5

Lots of favorite SCC Christmas songs and some his other all time favorites like Saddle Up Your Horses. Some even included new lyrics with snowmen, reindeer and Santa’s sleigh. Three great instrumentalists backup playing keyboard / guitars / mandolin / bass fiddle / cello and banjo. Lots of fun listening and singing along with familiar songs. An evening to remember. Would go again tomorrow if I had the chance.

He literally talked more than he sang. Last time I will go to one of his concerts.

  • Great night

Steven never fails to entertain and encourage his audience. He not only played new songs with an insight into the meaning behind the songs, he also played the older more familiar songs we all love. He makes you feel like family. And we are God's family.

  • Wonderful Nostalgic Evening

    by de2425 on 8/30/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Few artists have as many #1's as Steven Curtis Chapman. This evening was a wonderfully simple reminiscence of his career. So many songs that mean so much for one reason or another. It was a great evening. I highly recommend seeing him if you have the opportunity.

  • Wonderful Evening

The Steven Curtis Chapman concert was exceptionally great! I enjoyed every song and the guitarsmanship from SCC and Mr. James was outstanding. Fast -moving and full of excellent content, the show was well worth the ticket price. The theatre experience was smooth and problem-free. What a pleasure to have live shows in our area that bring joy and encouragement!!

  • music was great

by smodogs on 8/29/23Rating: 4 out of 5

The talent of Steven and his opener is undeniable. The music and songs were great. We had a wonderful evening. If I had one complaint it would be the amount of time spent promoting his wife's charity, Show Hope. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing charity and obviously, they do great work and it's very dear to their hearts but the amount of time that was spent talking about it almost felt like being trapped in a time share presentation. Other than that, I would recommend his concert to anyone who enjoys this genre of music.

  • Steven Curtis Chapman

by DW on 8/29/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I loved how he incorporated his new and old songs. My husband and I were probably one in many that had his "I will be Here"song played in our wedding. He was the only one on stage playing his songs on his guitar and wow he can play. .He talked to his audience as in a fireside chat manner about his life, his family, his music and his faith. It was enjoyable seeing his videos while he played his great music. At that time, Coby James was his opening act and accompanist for some of Chapman's songs. The young man was humorous and very talented. My kids and husband bought me the tickets at the last minutes because I needed some cheering up. Steven Curtis Chapman did just that.

  • Great performance and excellent place for the concert.

This was an acoustic concert. Cochren and Co opened for Stephen Curtis Chapman. Cochren was great. I knew songs from radio but live he is very good. I have listened to Steven Curtis Chapman since late 80s. The way his show was put together was really cool to view the progression of his career. He has pictures and video from his life and career. He also is very funny. He is a crazy good guitarist. I don’t know how his arm didn’t fall off. The only reason I gave a 4 star was they had his guitar volume too loud. There were times I couldn’t understand what he was singing because the music was too loud. That was not the case with Cochren though. His voice was clear and understandable. It was a great concert.

  • An evening to remember with SCC

by LBurt on 7/16/23Rating: 5 out of 5

We were on holiday from Scotland and were so pleased to be able to see Steven Curtis Chapman in the Mahaffey Theatre in St Pete's. It was a great evening full of stories and songs that took us back to the 80's 90's etc He played all the greatest hits. We also love Cochran & Co who supported him.

  • Way beyond all expectations! Life giving to my soul!

by Gina on 7/15/23Rating: 5 out of 5

It was the most enjoyable time I’ve had in a long, long time! The staff was friendly and very helpful. The acoustics were absolutely wonderful…I didn’t even need my earplugs…Thank You! The opening group Cochren & Co were totally awesome! Steven Curtis Chapman had an exceptional performance! The VIP meet and greet was the highlight for me. It was handled with ease and professionalism. Steven Curtis Chapman radiates the love of Jesus so brilliantly! I thank God for the opportunity to have this moment in my life. Blessed beyond words!

  • Impressed with C & C (powerful voice) and loved SCC!

by MomMu on 7/15/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Some sound/acoustic issues from our second level side "box seats", but LOVED the concert otherwise; so glad someone on SCC's "team"realized problem with tuner earlier than later so that we could hear his voice more clearly after first two or so songs. (No audio issue with Cochran & Co.) We thought we'd try side box seats so we wouldn't have anyone in front of us and could remain seated, but the wall actually cut off the entire left side of stage and hanging speakers blocked a good part of the back video screen, so we missed out on those visuals. It was a different concert experience from the side by ourselves, but I wouldn't recommend that location in the future, as it also was a bit of a strain on our necks, even though we angled our chairs. Performances were wonderful, however; just wish Stephen Curtis Chapman's guitar wasn't so over-bearing compared to his voice, but VERY grateful someone from his crew realized something (tuner?) needed adjusting and after that, we could hear him MUCH better.

  • Something Missing

by Concert Fan on 7/15/23Rating: 1 out of 5

Beautiful theatre in a beautiful setting but the concert itself was a huge disappointment! Our seats had seen better days and need to be replaced. When my husband and I sat down, it felt like we were sinking all the way to the floor. No support or comfort in the seats. Maybe other seats were better but ours were the pits. We were excited to experience Cochren & Co with full band as he usually tours but he said it was acoustic night and it was just him on keyboard and one guitarist. Very, very disappointed! How were we supposed to know that ahead of time? Sound for Steven Curtis Chapman was off. Guitar totally overpowered his vocals. If you didn't already know the lyrics, you had no idea what he was singing. We were in the front orchestra section about dead center and the lights glared off the guitars, both Cochren guitarist and Steven Curtis Chapman, many times throughout the concert hitting my husband and I in the face. I don't know what was off with sound and lighting but it was definitely off! So all in all, it was not a positive concert experience. Our tickets were a gift to us. If we had paid for the tickets personally, we would have regretted spending the money. I've been to many Christian music concerts throughout the past three decades and this was at the very bottom.

  • Could've been better

by Dan on 7/15/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Steven Curtis Chapman is still one of my favorites, and his performance was really good (full stop). Logistically, I was a tad dissapointed.. I bought the VIP package to keet Steven and take a picture with him but thi gs started later, we were all rushed for the picture and I've yet to receive the picture. From there in out things felt rushed which affected our overall experience. I still like Steven and I do hope the experience is improved upon because you can have the greatest artist in stage but if the overall experience feels sloppy and rushed it's bound to leave a sour taste. Plus I do.hope I get the picture.

  • Not what we expected

    by Jeff W on 7/15/23Rating: 3 out of 5

We did not realize "the concert"was just SCC with his guitar. No additional band or instruments. The volume on his guitar was so loud, it was difficult to understand SCC. Also, since he didn't have a band accompanying him, the tempo of the songs seemed too fast. All-in-all, we were disappointed.

  • An intimate music experience

    by Retiree 67 on 7/15/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I have been to a number of Steven Curtis Chapman concerts in the past. Usually, he has a number of other musicians backing him up. I was very surprised there was just Steven, three guitars, and one piano that shared the stage. Didn't make much of a difference, Steven pulled it off and made it a more intimate personal experience. It was like a sing along with Steven and a bunch of his close friends or buddies. He played for almost an hour, forty-five minutes. He mixed a selection of some of his older songs along with a few from his latest CD. He also shared some personal stories and testimony. I had a close view in the front row and maybe 30 feet away from Steven. He made it seem like he was playing for his family and friends. He didn't talk down to you, rather he was sharing ideas that made you think. He was relatable when he shared some of his personal struggles. I don't think there were too many in the crowd that didn't came away from this concert touched. I personally look forward to whenever Steven is in the area again!

  • Cochran & Co and SCC

Loved the acoustical concert. It was up close and personal. Had a blast!
