  • SCC - can't get enough

Great concert - Caleb - Steven Curtis Chapman's son - opened the show with a few songs which was enjoyable. As always, a fabulous performance by this artist...although I did miss his usual storytelling which he said he was trying to curtail to fit in as much music as possible. Well worth seeing.

The concert was awesome - better than I expected. Hearing Steven's challenges with losing his daughter really inspired me that with God, we can overcome any challenge or situation that we face.

I bought tickets with the intention of seeing Third Day thinking they were opening for Steven Curtis Chapman. To my surprise and a little disappointment Third Day did not open the show ( I planned on watching Third Day and then leaving ) but I will say that now I am so glad they did not. I was so impressed by Steven Curtis Chapman he is a phenomenal performer and person and I would gladly see him again. As usual Third Day was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • SCC = great, Third day = ok

by bvm1mjs on 9/21/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 3 out of 5

This was the first Christian concert we'd ever been to. There was some preaching and praise/worship music going on. I'm not heavy into the praise/worship music but it was OK. Steven Curtis Chapman was very good. Actually the first band to play was his son's band. They played 3-4 songs and was nice and Steven himself played on their last song. Then SCC came out and played for a little over an hour. He played most of the songs we had hoped for, except "You Are Being Loved" which was one of the songs we most wanted to hear. He pretty much just played music without much preaching, there was a nice prayer he put out there and a few personal stories here and there, but we got to enjoy the songs and sing along when WE wanted to. Overall that was very enjoyable. Then there was about a 40-minute break while they set up for Third Day. When they started we could hardly hear them (we had lawn seats) because Pine Knob's speakers were either not turned on or not connected. Not sure whose mistake that was Third Day or Pine Knob, but they remedied that. Third Day played maybe 3-4 songs that we knew. There was a lot of exhorting, prompting and coaxing on the part of their lead singer, Mac Powell, for the crowd to sing, dance (even demonstrating/explaining to us how to dance), and jump up and down. There was preaching, praying, commentary between every song. He spent almost 10 minutes with long drawn out introductions of the band members, "let's hear a nice warm Michigan welcome for...". It was over the top and overall disappointing. If I'm going to sing or dance I am capable of doing it on my own.

My husband and I expected a good show, but we were blown away. Steven Curtis Chapman ministered to his audience and rocked the stage.

This was such a great concert. It made for a wonderful night of worship. DTE Energy Theatre needs to have them back more often! What a great night!!!

The music was great and time was well managed. There was a good balance of music and testimony from Steven Curtis Chapman, CALEB was a great opening band and Third Day was fun and interactive with the crowd. Definitely a concert tour worth going to see!

  • Encouraging Inspiration in Action

by Believegod on 9/21/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

Since God has altered the life course of SCC forever, I think I'm more encouraged by his music than ever. How much more now is he able to reflect the faith he has in God than through the last two years? To me, his testimony now outshines his music (which is still fabulous).

  • Steven Curtis Chapman was incredible

I have been a Chapman fan since his first CD and have seen him in 3 prior concerts. None compared to this one. The "in-your-face" environment of the Nokia Theater was great and only added to the amazing display of musical talent on stage. The message was inspiring as well. These are anointed musician doing God's will during a difficult time of healing. May the Holy Spirit continue to dwell in their homes and wherever they are led to minister. BEST SONG - Listen to Our Hearts - brought back an old memory of a favorite song way back when. This song is timeless. Thanks Geoff for joining in. Very cool. NEGATIVES - Late start. The crowd was definitely of the older type and stiff. I think many came for more of a witness than the music. Had no impact on the event. WHAT SHOULD CHANGE - Come on Nokia! $3 for a bottle of cheap brand water??? This isn't Yankee Stadium you know!!!! Please fix the water fountains?

  • This was Steven Curtis Chapman at his best.

by NJTeacha on 9/14/10Best Buy Theater - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen several of Steven's concerts, and this was my favorite. It was the intimate setting that was promised. Steven seemed as happy to see us as we were to see him. He is such a consummate performer, yet so humble. His wife Mary Beth was humorous, and her story of how they have coped with the loss of their youngest daughter was inspiring. When you go to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert, be sure to closely watch his youngest son Will on the drums. Talk about passion and talent. Steven's oldest son Caleb is Steven with a modern edge. I had a great night with the Chapman family!

  • Amazing Night with the Chapmans!!

Can't say enough how much I enjoyed the show. It was the tenth time I have seen Steven Curtis Chapman in concert. I really enjoyed that he did a mix of old favorite songs as well as new songs. Loved seeing the rest of the family as well. Caleb was great. Having read Mary Beth's book, it was so nice to see her and hear her speak in person. Great evening!!

to print on the ti ket that the show began at 7pm when in fa ct the warm up act didn't even go on until 8:30 wasquite annoying. Steven C finally took the stage at 9.

  • SCC was AMAZING!!

by PKimmy on 9/13/10Best Buy Theater - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

This was my fifth time seeing him live, and this was one of the best. The fact that it's a family tour made it more special. Even at his present age, he has still got it together!

  • Steven Curtis Chapman was a huge blessing!!!!!

by Scarsdale on 9/13/10Best Buy Theater - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

Steven gave us a great time on Saturday. He sang so many songs and that is what we were there for. He ministered to all in song and was very engaging and a great entertainer with his jokes.

  • AWESOME!!!

by Nieci on 9/13/10Best Buy Theater - New York CityRating: 5 out of 5

I've been listening to his music for about 20 years and it was cool to finally see him in concert. He has an amazing God-given talent for singing and songwriting. He sang a few of my favorites and some new songs as well. His songs are timeless classics! It was nice to hear his sons sing in their own group and they also played for him. His wife spoke about her book (which I started reading and it is phenomenal). All of them are quite funny. I did not want the show to end.

It was awesome! The best birthday present I've received.

  • the Chapmans rocked the house!

A Christian band in Time Square! We have an awesomee God! The venue was intimate, the crowd a little quiet for the first half- but rocking the second. "Caleb" is really coming into their own and they sound awesome! Steven and Crew are still right on the money with their music, the mix and the stories. A perfect band to have/see while commemorating 9/11 as they have had their own devastation and faith walk to share. The opening prayers were nicely appropriate. Not only is Steven (and Jeff lol) a genius lyrisist but their songs of hope are joined by their mission "Show Hope" - for the orphaned children of the world. Steven's wife, Mary Beth shared a snipet of her story and her heart in the midst of their personal tragedy. The whole concert was AMAZING !!!
