Over three decades and numerous albums, industrial metal scene leaders Static-X are consummate survivors. Even after the untimely death of lead singer Wayne Static in 2014, the group has regenerated and continued to record new music while honoring the late frontman's legacy. Unlike their more straightforward '90s nu-metal counterparts, Static-X were heavily influenced by house music, blending influences like Pantera with the electronic stylings of Prodigy and the Crystal Method to define their sound.
Static-X were originally formed in 1994 after Wayne Static's former band, Deep Blue Dream (featuring a pre-Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan), broke up. Along with drummer Ken Jay and guitarist Emerson Swinford, Static relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles and the trio formed a band called DRILL. Swinford left the band and was replaced by Koichi Fukuda, and Static-X was born.
The band's first album came out in 1999 at the height of the nu-metal era. Wisconsin Death Trip contained the singles "Push It," "I'm With Stupid" and "Bled For Days." They played Ozzfest to support the album and released an EP, The Death Trip Continues, the following year.
Fukuda departed Static-X soon after, and in 2001 the band released their sophomore effort: Machine. The following year, Wayne Static's vocals were featured on the Queen Of The Damned: Music From the Motion Picture soundtrack ("Not Meant For Me," written by Korn's Jonathan Davis). Jay left the band shortly after, and in 2003 Static-X's third album, Shadow Zone, was released, featuring "The Only" and "So" as singles. Replacing Jay was former Seether drummer Nick Oshiro.
In 2004, Static-X released Beneath... Between... Beyond..., a collection of rarities and demos. The band released their fourth album, Start A War, in 2005 with "I'm the One" and "Dirthouse" released as singles. In 2007, Static-X shared a fifth album, Cannibal, which had music ("No Submission") featured on the Saw III soundtrack. Also in 2007, the band shared their exclusive Destroyer EP and toured on Ozzfest once more.
In 2009, the band released their fifth album, Cult Of Static. The album single "Lunatic" appeared on the soundtrack to Marvel's Punisher: War Zone. Oshiro left Static-X around this time and was replaced by touring drummer Will Hunt.
By the 2010s, the members of Static-X had split off to concentrate on separate projects, and Static toured with a solo band under the Static-X name. In 2013, the band announced that they were officially breaking up, though Static continued to play the band's material on tour as a solo act. In 2014, Static died at 48 ostensibly due to a long history of substance abuse, though officially his death was termed a natural one.
A few years after Static's death, the former band members reunited and began to parse through old unreleased demos. Composing new songs from that material resulted in Project Regeneration, which came out in two volumes, the first of which dropped in summer 2020. To support the album, the newly reformed Static-X toured with a new, masked frontman named "Xer0," who was rumored to be Edsel Dope of Dope. The band also released a single, "Hollow," which peaked in the Top 15 in the U.S. Dance/Electronic chart.

Big fan of static x and fear factory. The venue was great too. Really enjoyed the show.
The Show was Amazing from Start to Finish...High Energy though the Stage was Small the production was still 100%...
Great venue, staff was good, parking was easy, overall experience was good
What a fantastic show! My friend and I bought tickets back in November, and have been eagerly anticipating this lineup! The acoustics in the Buckhead theater are great, and the crowd was definitely feeling the vibe that the bands were putting out. After the show, we were fortunate enough to meet Mushroomhead, Fear Factory, and Static-X! It was so cool! Thank you for hosting everybody!
Static-X was amazing! Mushroomhead was great! Fear Factory was great, but their new lead singer needs to focus on the authenticity if he is gonna try and replace Burton. Otherwise, don't let him talk between songs. Dope was great! Society 1 had great music but their singer was mediocre at best. HOB Houston staff was really good. The only issue is the value of the food we received. It was below good.
Had one of the best times everyone was cool The merchandise table was well stocked and moved along well The bar was a little pricey but well stocked but enjoyable All in all had a great experience at Buckhead theater everyone was nice had a great time would definitely go say another show there Static-X definitely put on a great show saw them back in the 90s when Wayne was still alive at Oz fest had the same feeling with zero singing Great show if anyone must have a great time see static in concert heck of a good time...
First I have never been to this venue so I was surprised by how it was laid out. The staff were amazing and helped me find a place to sit since I have some physical issues and they also were helping other people at the show. It was incredible. I took my 14yr old granddaughter and we had the best time! Dope, Mushroomhead, and Static X were my favorites and it was obvious a lot of people were there for Fear Factory as well. I wish we could go again!!
The acoustics are phenomenal in the Buckhead Theatre for starters. You can also tell this venue is cared for and well respected by management and employees alike. The crowds were handled efficiently and professionally, drinks were cheap and quick, and when someone was hurt in the pit or showing signs of injury, medical staff were on scene within moments. I am thoroughly impressed and will most assuredly be returning in the future for more face melting metal shows!
Best way to being back Static-X. Great lineup of bands that all worked well together. Venue was small but excellent for this type of concert in my opinion. Tribute to the late Wayne Static was awesome and very much thoughtful and well put. This return tour couldnt have been any better.
The venue was wonderful. The bands kept the crowd jumping, the bar was well stocked, and merchandising tables were stocked. Never have I seen a group of bands that compliment each other like these 4 did, they definitely deserved a larger venue. Even though they all were out in the 90's I never seen any of them in concert. I hope they come to the Chattanooga area so I can see them again!!
Saw Static X at the Buckhead theatre in Atlanta. It was awesome! The bands rocked and the venue was amazing! Really enjoyed the meet and greet after the show! TOTALLY AMAZING EVENING!
Opening bands were great. Static-X did a great job. Tour was amazing
The show was excellent. Our VIP seating coordinator was awesome. Our VIP waitress service was terrible.
Sold out show ! It was such an amazing experience to see all them bands play live . The set lists were amazing . the crowd was very friendly and cool. The mosh pit was epic and yeah static X was incredible.
Excellent job done by the new singer. The energy and stage effects were awesome as well. I really enjoyed the show.
This was my first Static-X concert and I had a great time. I watch all the other bands as well and they were great. This was a great show. I will go again.
What an awesome time seeing Static X, Fear Factory, Mushroomhead, Dope and Society 1. It was my first time at The House of Blues it’s a pretty cool venue just not big enough for a show that size super over crowded and packed. I had no problems getting drinks or going to the restroom. It would be a great place to see a smaller more intimate show not a bad view from anywhere in the venue. Non the less still had a great time seeing some great bands.🤘🏻
nice space for a smaller venue; security was great and did their jobs without breathing down anyone’s neck
Static x never fails to play a great show! I miss Wayne but Zero is doing Evil disco justice!
Best concert i have ever went to. It was easy to find seats and order drinks.
