Over three decades and numerous albums, industrial metal scene leaders Static-X are consummate survivors. Even after the untimely death of lead singer Wayne Static in 2014, the group has regenerated and continued to record new music while honoring the late frontman's legacy. Unlike their more straightforward '90s nu-metal counterparts, Static-X were heavily influenced by house music, blending influences like Pantera with the electronic stylings of Prodigy and the Crystal Method to define their sound.
Static-X were originally formed in 1994 after Wayne Static's former band, Deep Blue Dream (featuring a pre-Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan), broke up. Along with drummer Ken Jay and guitarist Emerson Swinford, Static relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles and the trio formed a band called DRILL. Swinford left the band and was replaced by Koichi Fukuda, and Static-X was born.
The band's first album came out in 1999 at the height of the nu-metal era. Wisconsin Death Trip contained the singles "Push It," "I'm With Stupid" and "Bled For Days." They played Ozzfest to support the album and released an EP, The Death Trip Continues, the following year.
Fukuda departed Static-X soon after, and in 2001 the band released their sophomore effort: Machine. The following year, Wayne Static's vocals were featured on the Queen Of The Damned: Music From the Motion Picture soundtrack ("Not Meant For Me," written by Korn's Jonathan Davis). Jay left the band shortly after, and in 2003 Static-X's third album, Shadow Zone, was released, featuring "The Only" and "So" as singles. Replacing Jay was former Seether drummer Nick Oshiro.
In 2004, Static-X released Beneath... Between... Beyond..., a collection of rarities and demos. The band released their fourth album, Start A War, in 2005 with "I'm the One" and "Dirthouse" released as singles. In 2007, Static-X shared a fifth album, Cannibal, which had music ("No Submission") featured on the Saw III soundtrack. Also in 2007, the band shared their exclusive Destroyer EP and toured on Ozzfest once more.
In 2009, the band released their fifth album, Cult Of Static. The album single "Lunatic" appeared on the soundtrack to Marvel's Punisher: War Zone. Oshiro left Static-X around this time and was replaced by touring drummer Will Hunt.
By the 2010s, the members of Static-X had split off to concentrate on separate projects, and Static toured with a solo band under the Static-X name. In 2013, the band announced that they were officially breaking up, though Static continued to play the band's material on tour as a solo act. In 2014, Static died at 48 ostensibly due to a long history of substance abuse, though officially his death was termed a natural one.
A few years after Static's death, the former band members reunited and began to parse through old unreleased demos. Composing new songs from that material resulted in Project Regeneration, which came out in two volumes, the first of which dropped in summer 2020. To support the album, the newly reformed Static-X toured with a new, masked frontman named "Xer0," who was rumored to be Edsel Dope of Dope. The band also released a single, "Hollow," which peaked in the Top 15 in the U.S. Dance/Electronic chart.

All the bands were great. Mushroomhead members were especially friendly. I got to chat with a couple of them over the course of the night and the band as a whole did a photo with my son. Totally made his night :)
One bathroom (one men’s one women’s) was not enough and a few of the stalls had pee on the floors. It took a while to get a drink but the bartenders and cleaning staff did great. I saw 3 people unconscious and it ruined my night. Staff did help but they seemed a little slow. Sound was stellar. I think since it was a sold out show, the venue was just too full, so moving around and trying to use the bathroom became difficult.
Such an amazing show! Every band was phenomenal, and really lived up to the expectations. The venue, Big Night Live, was also a great place to see music. The new Fear Factory singer seemed like a great fit to the sound we expect to hear. Glad that Static-X is doing well after replacing Wayne.
All of the bands sounded fantastic. Just need better air circulation in the venue.
Went to the venue and were greeted and treated excellent by the staff , brought upstairs and put to the side waiting for the usher to place us . We were told of 2 seating arrangement for the handicapped way in back or off to stage right, we chose stage right because they said we would be in the back of the house behind everyone. But stage right was blocked by equipment and a security guard on a stool. So really I didn't get to see much of the show at All. Dissatisfied and disappointed are words that I would use to describe the experience. I would not recommend the venue to anyone else who is disabled at all.
5 bands and a great venue. The visuals and sound were on point. The venue was clean and well staffed. I went to see Static-X, and I can’t express how good that band is. I also saw some bands that I want familiar with and loved it. I definitely left wanting more… and that was an epic show.
Some tech issues during fear factory but all of the bands put on a show. Static X were insane and the set they played brought a tear to my eye. Featured two of my fav songs, strucutural defect and cannibal as well as the new one terminator oscillator
Great light show, sound, everything. I hope they come back around soon..
So awesome to see an old group playing live again… amazing show! I will definitely be buying tickets next time they come around, as long as it’s in a small venue again!!!!! Only way to see bands like this is in small (under 5000 people) venues like the TLA. I was blown away. It has bin many years since I have seen static x and fear factory and dope. Awesome awesome awesome show. Highly recommended. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire night!!! Thank you static x and special thanx to Edsel dope for making all this happen. Much respect
The crowd was fantastic. Calm crowd that really got into the music. Treated respectfully at the establishment being disabled was a plus. Thanks for the memories.
OMG this was an absolutely phenomenal show- every band was absolute perfection!
Absolutely amazing! Music was incredibly tight and on point. I saw them last year when they were on tour with Mudvayne and Rob Zombie, I was blown away at that time by their live performance. I immediately bought tickets to see them again. After waiting months, with the buildup, anticipation, and excitement - the potential for a letdown was there. But that is not what happened... they were even better this time around and far exceeded my expectations. This band is a must see live act. Even if you are not familiar with the library... it won't matter, you will be a fan after seeing them. **If the band is reading this: thanks for an amazing night, i had a blast!**

My husband and I saw Static-X with Rob Zombie last summer and knew we needed to see them again on a headline tour. We had an absolute blast! We drove 5 hours from VA to see them at Baltimore Soundstage. We’d do it again in a heartbeat.
I took my girlfriend and our daughters. It was an awesome show. Mushroomhead, dope and static x killed it. The venue was small but the shoe was great.
I was uncertain when I purchased the ticket. Finally the day of i started to ask about the meet and greet. I figured I'd missed it as they usually go on before the show. I enjoyed the show without question, just thought more information about the meet and greet would have been great.
The venue's ceiling was a bit short (one of the performers commented on this), but all the bands put on great shows. I loved the venue's guard rail near the stage, which allowed me to enter from the right side and get the closest to the performers I'd ever gotten at a Loud Music concert. Loved it, would go to this venue again, can't wait to see Static-X (and Fear Factory, Mushroomhead, Dope and Society 1) again live.
The show was wonderful the staff was polite for the most part and the venue itself was great. I found everything easily. The bathrooms and event area were clean. I only had 2 issues. The first one was the steps inside in the dark. They had string lights on them but you couldn’t see them when you were going to go down them. This was an issue as I almost fell because I couldn’t see them when the lights were dimmed. The second was the no reentry rule as they had no visible signs to tell you that before you entered the building. I was without things I needed but didn’t take in initially as I had no idea this was a rule.
All bands were great, but Mushroomhead was Awesome !!!... I had been wanting to see them for years !
