About

Over three decades and numerous albums, industrial metal scene leaders Static-X are consummate survivors. Even after the untimely death of lead singer Wayne Static in 2014, the group has regenerated and continued to record new music while honoring the late frontman's legacy. Unlike their more straightforward '90s nu-metal counterparts, Static-X were heavily influenced by house music, blending influences like Pantera with the electronic stylings of Prodigy and the Crystal Method to define their sound.

Static-X were originally formed in 1994 after Wayne Static's former band, Deep Blue Dream (featuring a pre-Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan), broke up. Along with drummer Ken Jay and guitarist Emerson Swinford, Static relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles and the trio formed a band called DRILL. Swinford left the band and was replaced by Koichi Fukuda, and Static-X was born.

The band's first album came out in 1999 at the height of the nu-metal era. Wisconsin Death Trip contained the singles "Push It," "I'm With Stupid" and "Bled For Days." They played Ozzfest to support the album and released an EP, The Death Trip Continues, the following year.

Fukuda departed Static-X soon after, and in 2001 the band released their sophomore effort: Machine. The following year, Wayne Static's vocals were featured on the Queen Of The Damned: Music From the Motion Picture soundtrack ("Not Meant For Me," written by Korn's Jonathan Davis). Jay left the band shortly after, and in 2003 Static-X's third album, Shadow Zone, was released, featuring "The Only" and "So" as singles. Replacing Jay was former Seether drummer Nick Oshiro.

In 2004, Static-X released Beneath... Between... Beyond..., a collection of rarities and demos. The band released their fourth album, Start A War, in 2005 with "I'm the One" and "Dirthouse" released as singles. In 2007, Static-X shared a fifth album, Cannibal, which had music ("No Submission") featured on the Saw III soundtrack. Also in 2007, the band shared their exclusive Destroyer EP and toured on Ozzfest once more.

In 2009, the band released their fifth album, Cult Of Static. The album single "Lunatic" appeared on the soundtrack to Marvel's Punisher: War Zone. Oshiro left Static-X around this time and was replaced by touring drummer Will Hunt.

By the 2010s, the members of Static-X had split off to concentrate on separate projects, and Static toured with a solo band under the Static-X name. In 2013, the band announced that they were officially breaking up, though Static continued to play the band's material on tour as a solo act. In 2014, Static died at 48 ostensibly due to a long history of substance abuse, though officially his death was termed a natural one.

A few years after Static's death, the former band members reunited and began to parse through old unreleased demos. Composing new songs from that material resulted in Project Regeneration, which came out in two volumes, the first of which dropped in summer 2020. To support the album, the newly reformed Static-X toured with a new, masked frontman named "Xer0," who was rumored to be Edsel Dope of Dope. The band also released a single, "Hollow," which peaked in the Top 15 in the U.S. Dance/Electronic chart.

Static X is an incredible live band. The band is great. The singer is amazing with the mask and the theatrics. After the show we did a meet n greet they signed my ticket. Got some guitar picks to add to my collection. I will definitely see them again.

  • Sick set!!

by Taylor on 4/15/23Summit - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing stage set and experience, can’t wait till they come back to town again 🤘🏼

  • Venue sucked!

by Metalicbrat on 4/15/23Summit - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

The music was amazing! The venue sucked! Too many people inside, no parking, wouldnt allow a 7 yr old kid to bring in a bottle of water. Wouldnt allow 7 yr old to stand at top of stairs so he could be safe and could see the show that we paid money for him to see too! The last venue we went to actually brought us up against the stage so we were safe and could enjoy the show without being pummeled by the mosh pit. If this venue allows all ages then there should be some accommodations for families with kids especially when its a full priced ticket for a young child so kids should be able to see the show that they pay for like everyone else. Should include parking with ticket sales. Had to walk a mile so that i could afford to park. I had no idea the mess it was gonna be to park back when i bought tickets to this show almost 2 yrs ago. The oriental theater was soooo much better the last tour. We could park for free, the staff was caring and accommodating to families.

  • Felt like a music video

by Svtrafa on 4/14/23Summit - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

This is porbably the best show ive seen in the past 4 years. All the bands had a lot of energy and it showed; the way the crowd was reacting. Maybe its just Colorado but they brought the house down. 5/5 I would attend again!

  • Surprised it was as good as it was

    by Tony B on 4/14/23Summit - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

I never got to see Static-X with Wayne, but I had to settle for this...I am glad I decided to go, because it was pretty spot on and a nice tribute to Mr Static. The only complaint is lack of recycling bins for the cans

  • Awesome concert

    by splatypus on 4/11/23Saint Andrew's Hall - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been a fan of Static-X fan since the early 2000s but never get a chance to see them in concert. It was so great finally seeing them live. Although the venue is small but the band gave one great performance. I wonder how they were when Wayne Static was still around! I can only imagine.

  • Soul Electrifying

by Zeta on 4/11/23Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

23 years ago a young highschool kid bought Static Xs Machine album, his soul was electrified by the sound of Wayne Static and for the next two decades could never get close enough to a show. Fast forward to the present and he's married and with wife in hand witnessed the greatest memoriam of one of the greatest metal gods this world has ever known. Stage show was out of this world, sound system screaming into the void, fans completely forgetting themselves and throwing their arms in the air. So much emotion and feeling I never knew could be possible at a concert coursed through me like raw unfiltered energy. 300/10 will absolutely see again. Even drove 7 hours round trip for this. Worth every damn penny ♥️♥️♥️♥️ #XeroReigns

by JMuff on 4/11/23Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Drinks were over priced 22$ for a mixed drink.... outrageous!! Loved it that could mosh and crowd surf as this is the main reason i go to concerts!!

  • Great show

by Pat on 4/11/23Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This was a long wait of 3 years, but it was well worth the wait! Dope was great, and static x played just as well as they did with Wayne!

  • No mushroomhead!!

by Katie on 4/11/23Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

When i bought these tickets Mushroomhead was on the lineup, and thats who i really wanted to see...so the day of the show after standing in line for hours i find out they arent there. Although, :Staticx was phenomenal as always.

  • Very awesome would love to see them perform again

  • Fantastic venue, was my first time there

by AnDy on 4/11/23Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Was absolutely an AWESOME show, venue was nice and the energy was all there to make it a perfect SOLD OUT show

  • Static X, Fewr Factory

by Trish on 4/11/23Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Missed the 3 opening acts, didn’t care. Walked in on new frontman, Milo Silvestro singing. He did Burton C Bell some justice. But he is not BC Bell. Edsel Dope donned a Wayne Staric Moro mask. He was NOT trying to BE Wayne. No one could. He did a great job for our beloved Static X, original front man…. ♥️ Thanks guys, you both did impeccable work. 🙏🏼

  • Static X

  • Meh

by Meh on 4/11/23Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

Iconic line up, very underwhelming preformance and expereience. Ive been to many shows throughout the years, it was not the performance I was hoping for.

  • Rockin

A little tight. High prices on beverages. Sound was alright

  • Metallic

by heavyandmelodic on 4/10/23House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Dope opened up with a solid 25 min set, just wished they had gotten to play longer. First time seeing Fear Factory and they did a great job warming up the crowd for Static-X with their 45 min set. Static-X played a great headlining 1 hr 15 min set of their industrial metal with a heavy dose of material from "Machine" since the tour was originally meant to be a 20th anniversary celebration of that album, rock on!

  • Static X and Dope Rocked
