About

STAIND IN CONCERT:

With three consecutive No. 1 albums of anthemic nu metal in the '00s, Staind became one of the most successful alt-rock groups of the decade.Ā  Blending muscular guitar shredding and singer Aaron Lewis's emotional, melodic lyrics, the band's impressive live shows span their entire discography, treating fans to studio-perfect renditions of their biggest hits alongside alternative, countrified versions of songs like "Mudshovel."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Massachusetts in 1994, Staind started out playing hard rock covers in local clubs before self-releasing their 1996 debut Tormented. While they only pressed four thousand copies, the album garnered enough attention to land them a deal with Flip Records and the production assistance of Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst for their 1999 follow-up Dysfunction. The album received favorable reviews and drew comparisons to nu metal legends like Korn, but its reception paled in comparison to 2001's Break the Cycle, an international No. 1 and multi-platinum smash. The band's next four albums would all land in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200, establishing an impressive catalog of hits and building anticipation for the band's rumored return to the studio in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Staind was unbelievable. The band sounded amazing. Aaron's voice gives you chills live. They played everything...They even played quite a few new songs which they totally killed on."

"Staind dug deeply into their classics to get the crowd going. Aaron Lewis was great and seemed to be having fun during an audience participation sequence. Staind played every song I wanted to hear plus more so I left very satisfied."

"I expected a top flight show from Staind and got it...they exceeded my expectations. They had a great mix of hard and soft music; all Staind."

All four bands were great. Good times had by my wife and I

The lead singer for Stained was incredible with vocals

    Good song selection

by Andi on 5/13/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

Great variety of songs played by all of the artists. My only complaint was that Staind was too loud (for that venue). I know concerts are loud, but Staind was too loud. The other bands were just right. Good show overall.

    Great show

by Luke on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

I bought VIP merchandise tickets for a T shirt of my choice I wanted a Seether shirt because that's who I forked out the money to see but they would only give me a Staind shirt. Other than that it was a great show. I had an awesome time.

    Great time

by Kewi on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

I really enjoyed the short time between bands! I would say the music was louder than the vocals, other than that it was perfect.

    Staind/Seether

by Angela on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

The performance was great. However, tuning seemed off making it extremely loud and ear piercingly pitchy. Hard to enjoy the show with the way everything was tuned - needed ear plugs.

    Pretty Amazing, however!

by Jbro on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

The concert and venue are amazing. The only complaint I have was the people standing up when you want to relax, watch, and listen to the music. I understand the concert experience, I just wish people were more considerate of others and how they want to experience it. We actually had to move to a few different locations due to people standing up and we didn't want to be rude to the people behind us. People smoking cigarettes and marijuana. Like I said earlier, I get and understand the concert experience, just wish people weren't so selfish and thought about the other people that were there too.

You'll have to make your own decision. (LOUD)

by Waxout on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

First off, the tix said 6pm with no other information, like "doors"or "show starts"We hit our seats at 6:35 and Saint Asonia was starting, so we completely missed Tim Montana, who we wanted to check out. So apparently the show started right at 6, which seems a little weird. Saint Asonia was good and played some interesting stuff and some 3 days Grace. But man they were loud, especially for an opener. (Loud was the theme for the night) Still fun! Seether was underwhelming (to me) all the songs just kinda bled together (fueled by nonsense, non-musical guitar feedback droning between each song) Add to that, the was very little illumination of the band and the rest of the light show was just blinders constantly blasting in your eyes. (also, not in a very creative way) so ultimately, there was nothing to watch, you certainly couldn't see the band. I think you might have been able to see them in the pit, but not very far past that. Staind was good, tight and well rehearsed, good light show and some creative video mixing live shots and arty filters. Full disclosure, I'm not a huge fan, but I go to a lot of shows just to see a good performance of professional musicians. Stain delivered, it was fun! So... volume; my iPhone was in my back pocket, and it was sending me noise warnings for 106db... just sayin

    An awesome experience

by Scottland on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

What an awesome show!! I canā€™t wait to see them again! In my humble opinion, Staind sounded better in concert than their recorded music. Wasnā€™t a huge fan before I saw them live. But Iā€™m a big fan of them now!

    Fan

by Staind on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

The music was great but the band and lead singer was hard to see even sitting in the lower bowl of the arena. The big screen was lacking close up of the band and really couldnā€™t see the concert. The light show was good but would rather see the lead singer. Not a great experience.

Great concert, not enough restroom accessibility.

by Terrible restroom situation. on 5/12/24The Santander Arena - Reading

Love both bands. Not sure what was up with Staind as the mix was way too bass and drum heavy, which resulted in drowning out the subtleties and vocals of their music. I love my music loud, but it was just muddled up. Not sure if they were just tuned in for a larger arena, but they definitely need to adjust for one on the smaller size. Also this arena needs way more restroom facilities. They would def sell more drinks if I knew I would not miss so much of the show waiting to use the bathroom.

    Awesome concert

by Bobbyb on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

Great lineup! 4 unexpectedly great bands. Loved that the floor tickets were not over $100(Iā€™m so tired of overpaying for concerts, itā€™s gotten out of hand). The only downfalls were: The concert started at 6pm and they should have made the whole main floor general admission. All in all we had a great time and it was worth the 3 hour drive.

    A better view

by Urmy on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

We bought pricey tickets with a good view and the whole show people stood up and blocked our view. This happens a lot ! My boyfriend is handicapped and canā€™t stand the whole concert. I would love to see Van Andel sell tickets that restrict people from standing in certain sections. The groups were great but the view was horrible!

Left 1/2 way through due to too many openers

by Bnov25 on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

I went to concert for Seether 1st & for Staind 2nd. Wanted to see them both. But at last minute was informed of 2 additional openers. This was too much unexpected and by time Staind began was ā€œdoneā€. Sadly left Staind early - not because they were not awesome but because we were ā€œdoneā€.

Great show with great sounds and visuals

by Seb on 5/12/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

After watching Seether in complete darkness and bad/poor lighting. Staind blew it out of the water. Great visuals, sounds and entertaining. The songs were mostly classics with a few mewer songs. Wonderful crowd interaction and entertainment

This venue is simply awesome. Very well organized. No long lines because they had plenty of employees. Everyone is kind and willing to help. I'll be back.
