I have never been to Radio City Music Hall in person, so this was a wonderful opportunity to view it without the hustle and bustle of a show or event to get to.
We learned about its history, and toured everywhere except the stage area because they were prepping for a show that evening. For me, that wasn't as horrible as it was for others in my tour group (there was a lot of grumbling and a little cursing) because we got to see the lights being prepped, which made for some beautiful photos for me. We did get to have a meet & greet with a Real Live Rockette.
All in all I think my major suggestion is that, if seeing the stage area is important to you, check their show schedule and try to get a tour on a non-show day. If that's not possible, perhaps a morning tour (mine was at 2:00PM) would get you what you're looking for.
