About

Squeeze, led by the songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, produced some of the catchiest songs from the ‘70s British new wave scene. The band’s 1978 self-titled debut and follow-up albums Cool for Cats (1979) and Argybargy (1980) produced a number of hits in the U.K., with a few receiving airplay on U.S. college radio, including “Take Me I'm Yours,” “Up the Junction” and the bouncy “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell).” In 1981, Squeeze released their fourth studio album East Side Story, featuring “Tempted.” The song went on to become one of the band’s most famous songs. It has been featured in movies, TV shows, video games and commercials.

  • Difford and Tilbrook still got it

by Funkeq on 12/8/15Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing!! All the hits by the two with such a historic body of work. Some solo, done unreleased material, some comedy, questions from the audience-everything you could ask for. Great room, great sound and you could walk out and grab a CD of the show on your way out

  • Best Show Ever!

    by RO1225 on 12/8/15Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to many, many concerts through the years - including Live Aid. The Squeeze Acoustic show was among the best! The venue was amazing - made the event feel very personal. Glenn and Chris were extremely entertaining - funny, candid, talented and appreciative of their fans. I will definitely be purchasing tickets next time they're in town!

  • Still sound great

by cgphilly on 12/8/15Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 4 out of 5

Great show. First time at this venue and I wonder if their booking agent tried the Keswick in Glenside how that would have faired. The guys sound great and did all of the hits you'd expect. One disappointment is nothing from Frank or Play albums. Not sure if that's contractual or choice but didn't take away from the performance. Bested my expectations

  • Great concert by Difford and Tilbrook

by FerryFanForLife on 12/8/15Scottish Rite Auditorium - CollingswoodRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert, could have done without the TWO Q+A sessions!

  • Great musicians and singer-songwriters!

by Eegy on 11/30/15City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I believe it is hard to find better singer/ songwriters and musicians than Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford. Along with an expansive musical catalog, they posess great chemistry and wit together on stage. Just an unblievable intimate show.

  • Great New and Old Tunes

    by mbo805 on 11/21/15The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 4 out of 5

  • Still love them

by Lsoeten on 11/18/15House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Weird at times but I still love them! They played songs from their new cd, I like the old songs best.

  • Squeeze was fantastic

by StacyinSD on 11/18/15House of Blues San Diego - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I was not sure what to expect from a band I had not seen play for almost thirty years. I was so happy to see that the years were of no matter. They played each song as if it was their first time on stage. It was energetic and so much fun! I love the new songs they played as much as the old!! I will be following Squeeze much more closely to make sure I do t miss another show!! In addition, the House of Blues was a great venue and I will also be looking to see more shows there.

  • Squeeze was AWESOME !!!!!

by JimthePumpkinCarver on 11/16/15City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I had an absolute fantastic time at this show! The sound was GREAT, and not a bad seat in the house. If you ever have a chance to catch a band you like at The Grove in Anaheim - YOU MUST GO !!!! The guys voices were still as strong as ever, and they SHREDDED their guitars. I would go back and see them again in a heartbeat.

  • Squeeze is FABULOUS in a small venue

by glimmrgirl on 7/20/12Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Small venue in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. There were no chairs, no seats, so everyone was dancing, moving to the music. That may have helped both bands' great connections with the audience. Glenn and Chris and the others (of Squeeze) were fluid and strong, the band sounded tight. They all looked like they were having a great time onstage. Each band member had a chance to be highlighted. The show was really long -- got my money's worth. After the show, the venue didn't just kick people out; it goes back to being a bar. After a break, the bands came out and they mingled with folks who were left hanging out in the bar. Very cool thing to do!!

  • B52s still rock!

by Anonymous on 7/18/12NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 4 out of 5

Love the B52s! Kate still has that amazing voice... played all the classics- awesome show.

  • Squeeze Rocked The House!

by ENRGYZRBunny on 6/8/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Forgot just how many amazing songs Squeeze has. LOL! Felt like I was reliving my childhood into adulthood. Each song they sang brought up a very distinct memory. Black Coffee In Bed and Tempted had that easy going 80's feel that felt so familiar. Pulling Mussels and Another Nail In My Heart made me flashback to my good old college days. I was back in the club during Cool For Cats. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening and worth the price of admission :D

  • SQUEEZE STILL HAS IT AND THEN SOME

by Raydebbie on 5/11/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I went to the Squeeze show not expecting to hear a band from the 80's still sound great but hoping that the tunes from back in the day would still be good enough to bring me back to the day. Well, to my surprise the boys have not lost a thing. They sounded exactly as they did back in the 80's. Every song brought me back to my youth. It was really incredible that they sounded as if they were right off the CD. They played all their biggest hits from Pulling muscles from a shell to breakfast in bed. The English Beat opened the show and were absolutely awesome. I would say that anyone who grew up listening to these bands in the 80's should see these bands in concert you will be glad you did.

  • They actually write, sing & play real instruments!

by cykidd on 5/7/12Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

English Beat was a nice kick-off to get the blood pumping. Squeeze was GREAT! The band was tight. Glenn's voice and guitar sounded fantastic.

  • A Juicy Squeeze

by Craptacular on 5/5/12Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

The show was excellent. The band is tighter than they were 25 years ago! Every song rocked the house. The Beat were awesome too. I'm going again. Nice beard on Glenn! I liked the downstairs bar, because you can see and hear the band from there.

  • Excellent Show. Awful Venue.

    by dknyc10023 on 5/4/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen Squeeze numerous times. This was one of their better shows. Glenn played better than ever before. They did some of their lesser known tunes, which was a nice change. I just wish they would have included "When the Hangover Strikes!" I think it's time to make a medley out of their hits and bring on some new tunes. Overall, good energy, great sound. Loved it. Only complaint is that since there aren't many seats, it does get tiresome standing for 3 hours amidst a bunch of drunken/high knuckleheads bumping and weaving, and spilling their drinks.

  • Squeeze show

by yankeesfan on 5/3/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen Squeeze at least 10 times over the years and they sounded as good as ever. They looked like they were really into it and they were having a ball up on the stage.Glenn Tillibrook looks strange in a beard but his voice was in prime shape. The venue is a great place to see a show as well.

  • Squeese, dont just be Tempted, go!

by brucefanfamily on 5/3/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

In a rare performance, Squeeze put on a terrific show at Roseland this past week. The English Beat got the crowd up and ready with a decent warm up set, but almost everyone was there for Squeeze. Their vocals have not lost a scintilla of clarity and the beat and tempo was superb. Squeeze is one of those bands, where you keep saying, wow, i remember that song too. They rattled off every hit and some recent tunes as well. I cannot say much more but if you enjoyed Squeeze in the 80s, you will love this trip down memory lane. Certainly worth the cost. Roseland is a good venue....a bit of a down and dirty club scene, plastic cups, no seating, and the floor a tad sticky...just what you imagine. But the sound was good, the crowd was generally in to it and it was a set of about 1.40 hrs.... Again, if your care to sit home with Black Coffee in Bed, so be it...but you will miss out

  • Squeeze rocks Roseland

by AEMohr on 5/3/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Tilbrook & Difford prove again why they are 2 of the best British songwriters since John & Paul stopped collaborating. Their timeless pop/rock generated an explosion of dancing & singing at a packed Roseland. The signature songs still pack a killer punch based on viciously infectious hooks combined with lyrics that match Becker/Fagen in their easy intelligence and poesy. John Bentley & Simon Hanson laid a rocksolid foundation while G&C's perfect vocal harmonies sounded as great as they did 30 years ago. Flawless performance of world class rock n roll. Highly recommended!!

  • Squeeze - as good now as they were in 1980!

by TGNottingham on 5/3/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Brilliant gig. Difford and Tillbrook are the Lennon McCartney of the 1980's and beyond. The last 45 minutes of the show was just brilliant - as they romped through some of the best songfest of an era - Pulling Mussels, Cool for Cats and Up the Junction. http://timgarrattnottingham.co.uk/2012/04/29/squeeze-cool-for-cats-in-the-big-apple/
