About

Squeeze, led by the songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, produced some of the catchiest songs from the ‘70s British new wave scene. The band’s 1978 self-titled debut and follow-up albums Cool for Cats (1979) and Argybargy (1980) produced a number of hits in the U.K., with a few receiving airplay on U.S. college radio, including “Take Me I'm Yours,” “Up the Junction” and the bouncy “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell).” In 1981, Squeeze released their fourth studio album East Side Story, featuring “Tempted.” The song went on to become one of the band’s most famous songs. It has been featured in movies, TV shows, video games and commercials.

  • Squeeze Alive and well

    by JoeC53 on 12/5/17The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Tillbrook and Difford did not disappoint. The band was tight and sounded great. They played a large portion of the new C/D which just dropped in October. Although I was not familiar with the new songs they were solid and played well live. IF your a fan, and I am, there was nothing to fault and a lot to like with the performance. Great show, highly recommended.

  • Great show

by marrone on 12/5/17The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Having last seen this band at Mayfest at the University at Albany in the early eighties, it was as if no time had gone by. The group sounded great, the sound guy was on the ball and the venue was packed. The band seemed to be having as much fun as the audience, smiling and joking while playing. Glen Tilbrook's voice was amazing and I forgot just how good a guitar player he was. I am going back to see them the next time they come around and will try to get my friends to come along as well.

  • Amazing!!!

    by Bunky71 on 12/5/17The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Squeeze at the Paramount Theater in Huntington (a great venue)New York on Saturday, Dec. 2nd and as always, they were phenomenal and put on a fantastic concert. They played for two hours--new songs, only songs--and every one was perfection. There was a great backup band. The creativity of Glen Tilbrook's writing, his and Chris Difford's voices which as always melded perfectly--the concert couldn't have been better, and I can't wait until they come back to the U.S. again.

The opening act was meh. But Squeeze was amazing! !! loved them. Our seats were perfect, balcony section (middle seats) but there wasn't any room to stand and dance. They played for two hours. I would go see them again in a heartbeat.

  • Brilliant...

Squeeze only gets better... Chris & Glen are brilliant!

  • Squeeze are great musicians

by Rguppy on 11/26/17Count Basie Theatre - Red BankRating: 4 out of 5

Band puts out a lot of music with its 6 members. They were tight, sounded great and it looked like they were really enjoying themselves. You will be on your feet for most of the concert. I see A LOT of concerts and I had a blast at the Squeeze concert. took me right back to 1986 and they sounded just like they did 30 years ago. Great time was had by all.

  • Squeeze sensational

by Mindydoc on 11/25/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Squeeze was a pleasent surprise. They may be older but the quality of their voices and musical instrumentation is still youthful and fun!

  • Footloose at the Basie

by oblio824 on 11/25/17Count Basie Theatre - Red BankRating: 4 out of 5

Squeeze put on a spectacular performance. The crowd resembled a still-life in an art museum until a few ladies ignored numerous requests to sit down and stop dancing. They released the audience to boogie. Squeeze rocked and let the crowd feed off them. Basie needs to loosen up on the Footloose attitude.

  • The Disappointing Squeeze

by BasieFanMan on 11/25/17Count Basie Theatre - Red BankRating: 1 out of 5

I sent the following message to Squeeze management: I saw Squeeze in concert about 25 years ago at Rider College in New Jersey. They put on an amazing show and sounded spectacular. I had been telling my wife for many years of how good that show was. A few nights ago my wife and I saw them at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank N.J. We had gotten some great seats, center stage 5th row. We were both looking forward to a great show and were so very disappointed. I have no doubt that their musical talents haven't faded but whoever was running the sound was doing a terrible job. The drums and base drowned out everything and the vocals were so buried that they were barely audible. We left after the 4th song. As we walked to the door I took note of the sound, thinking maybe it was just where we were sitting. It wasn't. It sounded the same from the 5th row to the back door of the theater. My wife and I have seen several bands at the Count Basie Theater and they have sounded excellent, so I know it's not due to poor acoustics. I'm not telling you this to get my money back. I just want you to know that someone is not doing their job which is not fair to the very talented band.

Great band to see live. I waited a long time for this show and they did not disappoint. They played music from their entire catalog and sounded great. Would love to see them again.

  • Squeeze Red Bank Theater

by Wingnut74 on 11/25/17Count Basie Theatre - Red BankRating: 2 out of 5

I Think Squeeze probably did a great job. The only reason I say I think is the Kick Base Drum and the Bass Guitar low notes were awful. Too much drive, bad speakers, component failure or the guys running the sound board are deaf. Over all volume was good just couldn't Hear Glen Tilbrooks vocals or guitar riffs. Bass Sound Quality was the down fall for my experience. Don't know if this was an Count Basie Theater Equipment or Squeeze gear.

  • SQUEEZE is STILL amazing!

by drfrankS on 11/25/17Count Basie Theatre - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Just one more piece of evidence that Squeeze should be in the R&R Hall of Fame. Tired of all the excuses - they're simply great. STILL putting out great music 45 years after their first EP (the new album is great), STILL have a body of work that cannot be denied for its timelessness and excellence, and STILL sound great live. Glenn's voice sounds like it did in the 80s, the band was awesome. Absolute great time. Thanks, Squeeze, for a great show!

  • Squeeze was incredible

by Markl19 on 11/25/17Count Basie Theatre - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

New band members were excellent as well as Difford and Tillbrook. New music was great and they played an array of their hits

I had a great time. Our seats were way in the back, but it didn't matter, it was so much fun! A trip down memory lane.

  • Great show from an old favorite!

by Magnatone on 11/24/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show from Squeeze. They can still bring the energy after all these years. The new band members were all outstanding and they played every song you’d want to hear.

  • Great work

by HogMF on 11/24/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Another phenomenal performance by Tilbrook, Difford and co. It always amazes me how Glen Tilbrook is so spot on with each and every voice inflection in every song...and such an underrated, amazing guitar player. A thoroughly enjoyable show. A great mix of tunes from latest album and classics.

  • Squeeze, absolutely superb !

by EasySqueezy on 11/24/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I have been fortunate to see Squeeze many times, and they never disappoint, but tonight, they were on fire ! The band are so incredibly tight, and they all looked like they were having a great time. Playing, to my mind, the perfect mix of old and new, I loved Patchouli, it is up there with classics like Pulling Mussels and Goodbye Girl. The Wilbur is a great venue, but, I do wish the seats were slightly bigger, maybe I should be slightly thinner ! Bottom line, go and watch Squeeze, they are STILL, one of the greatest bands ever !
