Squeeze, led by the songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, produced some of the catchiest songs from the ‘70s British new wave scene. The band’s 1978 self-titled debut and follow-up albums Cool for Cats (1979) and Argybargy (1980) produced a number of hits in the U.K., with a few receiving airplay on U.S. college radio, including “Take Me I'm Yours,” “Up the Junction” and the bouncy “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell).” In 1981, Squeeze released their fourth studio album East Side Story, featuring “Tempted.” The song went on to become one of the band’s most famous songs. It has been featured in movies, TV shows, video games and commercials.

Sounded perfect. Their live performance sounds as perfect as a record.
Disappointed , seemed old and tired Did not connect with the audience .
My wife started Chemotherapy the following morning. It was supposed to be our birthday celebration. Her birthday is 8/23. Mine is 8/19. She didn’t fell well all day. She insisted that I go as to not waste a ticket. I connected with an old friend at the show. Squeeze were great. They Might Be Giants were excellent. The venue is top notch. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Venue was terrible. Didn’t stay cause had to stand. Not worth the $. Just sit outside and you can hear the music.
Great concert. Great bands and the crowd was fun. Easy in and out of the venue.Electronic tickets would have been nice.
Great crowd, lots of bars, lots of bathrooms, lots of great music!
Squeeze still has it. All of the band, excellent players.
Never got the crowd until the last four songs. Surprised they came out for encore. No applause worthy of that. Last 3 songs were good but even after that there was minimum clapping. Seems they took to long to get the crowd into it.
LOVE: Thoroughly enjoyed the performers. Squeeze and They Might Be Giants were in fine form, and their sets left little to be desired. Both bands sets were filled with music that took many of us back to our youth. HATE: On the other hand, standing shoulder to shoulder in a packed venue got painful. If only they'd replace one of the many outside bars with bleachers so us older folks could get off our feet for a few minutes. Next time, I follow the wisdom of the folks across the street and listen to the show from the boardwalk while sitting in a lawn chair.
The band was great. Venue was terrible; WAY too crowded. Had to make an escape during the 3rd song, caught the rest of the show from a grassy area across the street. Squeeze sounded great!
Absolutely brilliant again. Sounded even better than 40 years ago when i seen them
There were too many unfamiliar songs at this concert, and those songs were hard to take to be honest. Old hits sounded great. Saw Tilbrook solo last year, and it was the same thing. Summer stage at the Stone Pony was great as always.
What a great concert. Squeeze still sounds fantastic. They played all their great songs. It’s a must see concert.
I loved the concert. I hadn't heard some of their hits in years but they are still awesome! I hope they keep touring. I would see them again.
The Squeeze Concert at the Bergan Pac on Tuesday August 20, 2019 was great. Every one of their songs are wonderful. The lead singer has a voice that still sounds as good now as it did when the Group first came out in 1973. I saw them a little over a year ago at the legendary Capital thearer in Port Chester, and at the Beacon theater in NYC. My most memorable show was seeing them in concert in the early 2000,s at Toads Place in New Haven CT, at one part of the show, the Group lead everyone out of Toads and into an adjacent pizza restaurant to sing song there. Squeeze will always be my Favourite, and holds a special place in my heart.
Squeeze was great! Enjoyed the music. The staff was good. Very helpful. Only major issue was the comfort. The air conditioning was not up to par. Very humid in this sold out show, hard to breathe. Mentioned it to a security person as well as two ushers. All night very hot. I have been to a few shows this summer and same issue. Re-thinking going to summer shows. We pay a lot of money for these tickets and should be comfortable.
I have seen Squeeze over 40 years and while I worship at the altar of Difford & Tilbrook, have found myself missing the original band lineup many times over the years...however, the current lineup is pretty irresistible and did great justice to the fabulous musicianship of D&T and their songs...great energy and so much fun to watch and listen to. First time I went to Bergen PAC and found it to be a really excellent venue, will definitely look for more shows there.
The four stars in this review are for Squeeze only, who gave a solid performance. Their sound was tight, their energy high...they never disappoint. Unfortunately the venue was not cool for cats. No energy in the audience who sat most of the time, and dancing in the side aisles was prohibited. Security yelled at dancing patrons like a drill Sargent, as if it was a capital offense to have a little fun (at no one’s expense). What is this, Footloose? I would encourage the band to seek out venues with a general admission section, so those who want to dance can, without bothering management or other patrons.
Glenn, Chris and a great band sounded perfect! Played a wonderful set and you could see they were having fun as did everyone there.
jI've seen them before, but was so glad to see them at this point in my life when I truly appreciate the musicianship of the band. They sounded great and super tight! The venue was packed, and the only thing I was disappointed in was in Black Coffee in Bed was performed way too uptempo and fast! I guess they are sick of playing it the way it was written, but it sort of sounded like they just wanted to get it over with! Also, I choose to pay for a seat for the option to sit .. but not through the entire show - the crowd could use a coffee bar instead of alcohol - wake up people, it's a concert - get up and dance, at least for the encore!
