About

Squeeze, led by the songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, produced some of the catchiest songs from the ‘70s British new wave scene. The band’s 1978 self-titled debut and follow-up albums Cool for Cats (1979) and Argybargy (1980) produced a number of hits in the U.K., with a few receiving airplay on U.S. college radio, including “Take Me I'm Yours,” “Up the Junction” and the bouncy “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell).” In 1981, Squeeze released their fourth studio album East Side Story, featuring “Tempted.” The song went on to become one of the band’s most famous songs. It has been featured in movies, TV shows, video games and commercials.

  • Classic Squeeze!

by Steve F on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic show. Psychedelic Furs opened and were excellent, playing many of their great hits. Squeeze then came on and brought the house down. Great songs, and the music and sound was awesome. Crowd was really into it, and it was just a fun, excellent show.

  • Went for the Furs

by Psychfurs on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

I will tell you, I did not realize hiw many minor hits squeeze has. Out of the first 5 songs, I knew three and I didn't even know much from them. I went for the Psych Furs. Squeeze has a tight band and sounded great. I only stayed for about 7 of their songs cause I wanted to get home.

  • Perfection

by Leen on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Squeeze sounded as fabulous as they did in the 80s!

  • They still got it!

by Amyleighv on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Squeeze put on a great show! Fun, playful, fantastic!

  • amazing

by ntmshore on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Saw Squeeze with the Psychedelic Furs, and Squeeze was absolutely amazing. Great songs and high energy that kept the audience on their feet for almost the entire setlist.

  • Squeeze still have it!

by JimmyMac on 9/16/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great catalog delivered with a superb percussion section, a superb keyboard set, and a superb one-man supporting guitar/string section. This was a new Squeeze band behinf Diffird and Tilbrook, to me at least, but they were really tight, and obviouslyenthusiastic about their work. Absence of an encore was a disappointment, but still a great show.

  • Great but Disappointing, too

by Cheryl on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

I love Squeeze and see them whenever they are in the area. They were great for the time they were on stage. That being said, they were onstage for an hour and no encore. It is very disappointing when the opening band, The Psychedelic Furs, played longer than the headliner. The Psychedelic Furs played from 7:30 to almost 9:00pm. Squeeze came onstage about 9:20pm and played to 10:30pm. Then they were done. Their music was fantastic but wished they put a little more effort into putting on a longer performance for the price we pay for the tickets.

  • Amazing as ever!

by UpTheJunction on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Squeeze is as amazing as always live! Excellent setlist and performance.

  • Great seats, better show!

by Jimmy D on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been a fan of Squeeze almost since their beginning. First time seeing them in concert. Tilbrook and Difford did not disappoint. Played the hits and some other songs that I enjoyed hearing live as well. The Psychedelic Furs were equal to the task too! The Butler brothers also sounded great and it was a Time Machine ride back to the early 80s. Loved the concert!

  • Totally enjoyed the concert.

by Delco Pool Boy on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Squeeze was great. I noticed that it was a different concert than their last one that I saw in Port Chester. The mixed it up. They played the favorites and a couple different obscure or new songs which I enjoyed. They also used more keyboards and I think a couple more guitar solos. I especially liked the how the presented Temped - starting with the bluesy guitar work - it was creative and enjoyable. Looking forward to the next tour.

  • Kings of Pop

by Greg on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan of squeeze since the beginning and so many of their shows back in the '80s. I've always considered the songwriting of Difford and Tilbrook as one of the best pop rock Duos ever. The band did not disappoint. Glenn tilbrook still has his voice and is one great guitar player. He is very impressive to be able to sing rather complex and at times rapid paced lyrics while playing lead guitar. There's nothing I can actually say bad about a band that feels like an old friend

  • Awful 2nd row balcony seats

by JE on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

Psych furs and Squeeze put on a great show and the sound quality was awesome. The Met needs to reconfigure the balcony seating. Balcony nearest the stage has two rows, theater seats and behind them, bar stools. If your seats are in row B you can’t see any part of the stage, even if you stand because everyone on the first row stands. There should only be one row in these sections. Paid $115.00 per seat to have a completely obstructed view.

  • Incredible as always!!

by Babs on 9/16/23The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This is one of the best bands that never made it big. Great songwriting, vocals and musicianship. First saw them in 1982 and they still sound great!!

  • Psychedelic Furs & Squeeze in Boston

by MJB on 9/16/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

The Psychedelic Furs were excellent - Richard Burton's voice sounds as good as ever.... The saxophone player was off key for the first few songs which sounded terrible.... always seemed like he wasn't playing in the right key and I've been a Furs fan since the formed back in the 70s. Squeeze on the other hand - I was pretty disappointed by how short their set was as well as the extra synthy sound on all their songs. Coffee in bed morphed into something terrible and i was ready to walk out several times.....why kill your songs with overdoing it? I would see the Furs again and again, but Squeeze, I am going to have to take a hard pass.

  • Psychedelic Fur & Squeeze

by DaveZ on 9/16/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I don't really follow "New Wave"or either of these bands but my 18yo autistic daughter is a huge fan of both. I resisted going with several excuses (too expensive, a school night, timing not right) but relented because she has so little in her life that I knew that this was going to be a great night for her. But just like "Echo and the Bunnymen"before, it was a great night, she was over the moon happy, and we had a great adventure together. I am so glad that we went. Both bands were fantastic. They haven't missed a beat in all the years that they have been doing this.

  • Absolutely Fabulous!

by Cleavert on 9/16/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The entire audience was on their feet for the entire set. Lights, Sound and the band members were tight. Perfect performance. I waited a long time to finally see them and the concert was beyond amazing.

  • Awesome concert, but …

by Drew Prescott on 9/15/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome concert! Both bands amazing!! But very disappointed with no encore. That would have made the show perfect. Fans were on their feet and cheering happily, so excited. But … then it was over. One song encore would have been the icing on an otherwise perfect cake.

  • Magic from London Bands

by Wendell on 9/15/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

An absolute blow out, masterclass in pop music from SO underrated Londoners Squeeze. Powerful, tight as hell, they gave the ecstatic crowd an evening they won’t ever forget. Openers Psychedelic Furs delivered the goods with Sister Europe the most stunning, haunting moment of the evening.

  • Absolutely fantastic

by Mark on 9/15/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a Squeeze fan Since roughly 1980. I wasn’t overly optimistic about how good they would hold up live. I was totally friggin wrong. This show was one of the best of the 20ish shows I’ve been to so far this Summer. I would highly recommend seeing this show. Psychedelic Furs opened as the co headliner and they were also fantastic.

  • The Furs were awesome

by J Sull on 9/15/23Boch Center Wang Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

So happy to see Richard and the boys again. We left before Squeeze came on. So angry at the idiots in the crowd who were talking during The Furs.
