    Great show

by Traveldiva on 2/26/24Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Both groups were incredible! Jeff Lorber & crew were amazing! Played for an hour. Then Spyro Gyra came out & performed for 2 more hours! Both acts were at the top of their game. Unbelievable talents. Loved it & you will too!

    Excellent

by VinMasterG on 2/26/24Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

This is a very talented group of musicians. Loved how they played songs written by every current band member and by most, if not all of original members. Also did a terrific five song compilation of their popular hits at the end of the concert. I went last year and the band seemed to be more relaxed and in sync in this performance. Will definitely go again next year.

    Even better than expected

by Curt on 10/16/23The Walker Theatre - Chattanooga

Spyro Gyra put on a great and entertaining show. My wife barely ever heard of them before the show and came away impressed. The show flew by and left us wanting more.

    Memories of Rochester, NY

by Trish on 10/16/23The Walker Theatre - Chattanooga

I use to live in Rochester which is were I was first introduced to Spyro Gyra, as the group is from Buffalo, NY. I loved the concert. Each band member give it his all. I like the Walker Theater. Is a more intimate venue. Great concert. Hope they return on their 50th.

    Big fan for years

by Rheacerdave on 10/14/23The Walker Theatre - Chattanooga

Started listening to pyro Gyra back then in early 80s. Jay is the only original, but really good band members now. Scott Ambush was great on bass. We enjoyed them very much. Let forward to seeing again. Walker Theater is a nice size. Have been to dozens of concerts there.

Show was great. The Walker Theater is the best place in Chattanooga to see a show.

    Great Show

by Baseball Dude on 10/5/23Jo Long Theatre - San Antonio

The band was on point! What sucked was the lack of any concessions in the venue. The band had bottles of water on stage while the audience had nothing. Nothing for sale and only a couple of water fountains. I won’t attend another event at The Carver. Totally stupid. O

    Time Travel with Spyro Gyra

    by JSP on 7/15/23

It had been almost 40 years since my wife or I had seen Spyro Gyra live. Except for a few (or many) gray hairs, it was amazing that they look and sound so great - like they did in the 80s. We loved their interactive set - highlighting the talents of each member of the band. We plan to see them again - every time they come back.

Great evening music from Spyro Gyra

by Hap E Mann on 7/15/23

Spyro Gyra is in its 49th year of creating and performing smooth jazz. Their 1+30 performance covered many songs from their songbook plus a few covers (as tributes). Classic moments were leader Jay Beckerstein playing two saxes at the same time, Lionel Cordew’s multi minute drum solo (band off stage), new keyboardist Chris Fischer multi minute solod, Julio Fernandez (the other founding member besides Jay) took us on a Cuban musical journey playing his guitar and singing. Ambush (bass) had many chances to impress with his finger dexterity. Maybe a new album will be released as they mark 50 years in 2024. A great evening played to a full house.

    Not the experience I expected

    by JazzFan on 7/15/23

The Spyro Gyra of old is gone. Even their famous songs are now improvised to a degree that they are almost unrecognizable. The music is choppy with a hard to follow melody (if there?) I realize there is change over the decades, but would like to believe many folks attend their concerts to at least hear some of the songs they grew up with. If that’s you - you may come away disappointed.

The show was great. I haven't seen Spyro Gyra since 19... and they still have it going on. Happy 50th to the group.

Make no mistake; this is no "nostalgia tour"!

by Jay Heath on 5/23/23Bijou Theatre - Knoxville

Date night dinner and concert. Spyro Gyra. No "going through the motions" here. After 49 years. . .still fresh. . .bright. . . tight. Their longevity comes as no surprise to anyone even casually familiar with them. I am a musician and I play just well enough to understand (not play) what they are doing. Their sound is sophisticated, melodic, catchy, complex, but not complicated. This combination is hard to pull off. (Well not for them.) They keep the soul of the song they’re playing right in their hip pocket while at the same time, taking it right up to the penthouse. They’re easy to listen to, but still offer up enough substance for a listener “audio deep dive.” Not a weak number in a remarkably diverse set. What I heard that night could have been released as a live album. Spyro Gyra is a perfect example of why we have music.
