These guys have not lost a step. Concert is not a playlist of the hits...but of original music done in the ir unmistakable style. Plus...unlike many artists...they sound better in person. If you appreciate music...not just songs...this concert is a must.
The band was awesome. While I love seeing shows at the Casino and the Showroom is a great venue, they need to either pit up walls or glass or something to block off the casino noise. When you are sitting in the back it gets loud. Also, people stop having conversations during a show. So distracting. Plus that annoying woman at the bar that wouldn't shut up! Go somewhere else!
The Red is a great venue in Fontana. Spyro Gyra did not disappoint in their performance. But who would expect less from a world renown contemporary jazz group that has been around for 50 years. The reason I characterized the event as a private concert was because there were only about 50 people in attendance. The Red theatre may not have gotten the word out to the right sources to fill the venue. Again, I was not disappointed and we had a lovely evening of fabulous music.
I absolutely loved the performance of Spyro Gyro. I loved the venue, Stage Red. The performance was great. My favorite instrument played was the piano. The pianist did an amazing job. Would totally recommend Spyro Gyro….especially if you love Jazz music.
Jay and the boys sounded as good as ever. Glad I got to see them again. If you have the chance, do yourself a favor.
I think that everyone that was there felt the same, the show was fantastic.
Spyro Gyra offer the Jazz Fusion sound they are renowned for. The band members have changed over the years... but the level of talent in the band remains. Ludlow is a smaller .... more intimate venue. I would much rather see a performance here than some giant venue with double balconies or outdoors where I spend 90% of my time watching the jumbo monitors. I can stay home if I want to watch television. This band has been around for 50 years. The crowd was mostly older. People were polite and considerate. I've been to other venues where the kiddies behind me thought I would rather listen to their drunken off-key rendition of songs than the artist I paid to see. So to those kiddies... there was nothing to see here...very bad...stay away... for everyone else...it was awesome.
They’re good including the new members. I wish though that they played more songs from the 70’s.
Spiro Gyra puts on a great show! Still wish venue would start on time but this performance was closer to the advertised start time.
The performance was fantastic! If you have never seen Spyro Gyro, please don't miss the opportunity. They give a great show!
This was my 4th Spyro Gyra live concert. I had big expectations as all the other concerts had been amazing. It was a let down when throughout the concert they did not play any of their big hits until they played Morning Dance at the very end. Having Carlos Fernandez on the guitar singing two Cuban songs in Spanish was totally off the mark. Won’t be going to another concert after this.
Been a fan of this group since they started out 50 yrs ago. Jay Bekenstein is the only original member left, but Jay has kept the quality of this group on point. The show was also at my favorite venue, Parker Playhouse. A perfect evening!!!
Before leaving the mid-west to spend the winter in Florida, I set up my old CD player and rummaged through albums that haven't been played for years. I listened to some Chicago, Brian Culbertson, Fleetwood Mac and all four of my Sypro Gyra albums. In Miami, I was searching for jazz concerts online and happened on to the Parker and the date for the Spyro Gyra 50th Anniversary Tour concert. I bought a couple of the last tickets and am really glad I did. Except for Jay Beckenstein most of the members are different than when I was following them in the late 70's and 80's. Many of the songs played were unfamiliar to me, but the sound was all that I remember and new songs were terrific. Lee Ritenour's opening was an unexpected treat. Before this concert, I was not familiar with him and his music. In all, this was a great experience and well worth price. The other great find was the auditorium. The Parker is a great venue with excellent acoustics. The programing offered at the Parker this year is varied and there are several shows on their schedule we are planning to attend.
I was born in Buffalo, New York. I graduated High School in 1974, when the group was formed. I have been following them for 50 years and have all their CD's
What a gift to see Spyro Gyra live. Big fan for many years. The music continues to evoke happy times. So glad we finally saw them live. Keep up the great music!
Spyro Gyra was as good as ever. Been seeing them for 48 years. Only problem was they didn’t play long enough ❤️❤️
Spyro Gyra was great. The compositions by Julio were especially good. But I think Lee Ritenour and his group stole the show. The Brazialian bass player from Miami, the expertly played keyboards by the professor and the fabulous performance on percussion by the younger Ritenour, combined with Lee’s artistry to put them over the top. A very enjoyable evening. And the Wells Hall at the Parker is such an intimate and acoustically enhancing venue. (Oh, and the hors d’ouvres and drinks at the Haller Club were good too).
It has been 14 years since the last time I showed Spyro Gyra live. Enjoy every second of it. Excellent sound and performance at its best! New keyboard player Chris Fischer amazing. Julio Fernandez, better than ever, Jay Beckenstein just perfect!
Enjoyed the show but as with most concerts/shows, the volume was too loud! As with most groups they play their "new"music first then save the music everyone came to hear at the very end of the program. Not enough older music also! Must be my age!!
