I started buying their albums around 1977. Very talented musicians playing great songs.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Spyro Gyra concert. It was nice hearing those vintage sounds. The group was still at the top of their game. Loved that line about writing songs in 70's when he was in his 20's.... It was an awesome night
My husband introduced me to them years ago. He passed away 3 yrs ago this month, so seeing them was happy and sad at the same time.
I saw Spyro Gyra a couple of years ago in Napa at the Blue Note. I think they were even better in Charleston at the CMH. I guess you could say they're not getting older they're getting better. It was my first time in the Charleston Music Hall and the acoustics and the venue as a whole were excellent.
This was a great concert and in a great setting that was comfortable and easy to see. I started listening in the late 70’s, early 80’s & then life happened, and other music took over. When I saw that they were going to perform, I called a few friends and off we went. It was simply just wonderful. When the lead played the song he wrote for the Unknown Soldier, tears began to fall. The sax, clarinet, the drummer along with base, guitar keyboard players rocked. I am so glad I went.
Spiro Gyra put on a superb concert (and kudos to those who managed the lights, sound, backdrop videos). We thoroughly enjoyed it, i.e. worth a 2 hour drive and cost of an overnight hotel room). We got a treat the next morning by encountering band members at breakfast. Told them they MUST keep the line uttered: "We wrote this song in the '70s when we were in our 20's; now, in the '20s, we're in our 70's."
I’ve been listen to their music for years and years, and the lab performance was even better. These are five very talented musicians. My whole group of four people all agreed. It was an amazing concert.
I’ve been a fan of Spyro Gyra for over 40 years. Once again - a great evening of wonderful music wonderfully performed. Thank you!
Spyro Gyra put on a great show. Some new and some old content. Glad we went. Talented band!
The performers were terrific and the show was great. However, the Wilbur as a facility leaves a lot to be desired. The floor seating is cramped and crowded with very uncomfortable chairs. The balcony seating is similarly cramped and uncomfortable. Overall, the venue is old and in desperate need of upgrading. I won’t be attending any future shows at the Wilbur, regardless of how great the performers may be. There are many other places in the Boston area that provide a much better setting and experience.
Excellent Musicians. Both the starter band and Spyro Gyra. Brought back many memories of way back when in Buffalo. Just as great if not better!! The piece by the guitar player was beautiful beyond and the piece by the drummer was also outstanding. Hearing all the old pieces was just amazing. No loss on the horns after all these years. He just got better!! So worth going to see!!
Light Jazz not too challenging sorrry but i dont want to spend half the day writing reviews can you make the process shorter
Excellent show. I hope you present them again next season
from the start i really liked it the opening trio was very good, and when Spyro Gyra came out it just added to a great night.
Great Band and lovely venue 👌 Parking was a nightmare otherwise a great gig
An absolutely amazing concert!! Sound was fantastic. Needless to say, Spyro Gyra were fabulous! I have been a fan for over 40 years and they sounded as great as ever. I am also a very big fan of Jeff Lorber, so it was such a great treat to get to see him play as well.
Not sure why, but how do you not include this song in the setlist? We came all the way from Chicago only to not hear our favorite. Good concert otherwise. Jeff Lieberman was fantastic!!!
Spyro Gyra is firing on all cylinders 50 years later! Music was mesmerizing at times and Julio Fernandez’s rendition of De La Luz had me and my wife in tears. I have been recommending everyone I know to experience their music.
Both groups were incredible! Jeff Lorber & crew were amazing! Played for an hour. Then Spyro Gyra came out & performed for 2 more hours! Both acts were at the top of their game. Unbelievable talents. Loved it & you will too!
