About

Springsteen on Broadway is a solo acoustic performance written and performed by Bruce Springsteen under the lights of Broadway. It is an intimate night with Bruce, his guitar, a piano, and his stories.

“My vision of these shows is to make them as personal and intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung, all of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal—to communicate something of value," says Springsteen.

Bruce Springsteen’s recording career spans over 40 years, beginning with 1973's ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ’ (Columbia Records). He has released 18 studio albums, garnered 20 Grammys, won an Oscar, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Kennedy Center Honor, and was MusiCares’ 2013 Person of the Year. Springsteen’s memoir ‘Born to Run’ (Simon & Schuster) and its companion album ‘Chapter and Verse’ were released in September 2016, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November last year. Springsteen’s The River Tour 2016 was named the year’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar. ‘Born to Run’ will be issued in paperback by Simon & Schuster this September.

    An emotional journey...

by LoyalBruceFan on 10/23/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Bruce, unplugged and unfiltered. He reflects on his rise and the moments in life that define him. He is honest about his luck, his determination and his struggles. Clearly, this is a man looking back at his life and looking forward to the end. Filled with laughter, tears, heartbreak and promise, it is a different sort of "The River."

    A lasting experience

by LaineyMBO on 10/23/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Bruce was amazing. I always knew he was a great performer but in this show he was much more than that. He made me laugh and cry. Shared stories that made me feel I was a friend.I walked out of the show elated. The next morning I was feeling euphoric. The life and love of Bruce Springsteen stays with you long after you leave the theater

Bruce was great but venue needs improvement

by Penelope12 on 10/23/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Bruce was phenomenal. Loved his storytelling and honesty but for the cost of the tickets, the seats were so cramped, other people made noises during the show and many had their cell phones on and were texting! Very annoying. I couldn't get immersed in the show with all the distractions. Spent a lot of money on these tickets and trip. Come on Bruce, your audience is older, and we can't sit in tiny, cramped seats for 2 1/2 hours!

    An outstanding show

by Jimmie1951 on 10/22/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I've seen Bruce Springsteen a number of times, but never in a show like this. This was the "authentic" Springsteen that you don't see on the big stage. He told a poignant story that resonated with the audience--it was personal and universal. The only negative was that the guy in front of me was very tall, so I didn't have a straight view for the entire show (and I'm six feet tall). I had to keep shifting from side to side. For a $500 ticket I expected a clear, unobstructed view.

    He Gets Better!

by BrenWin on 10/22/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Saw this show last fall not long after it opened but chose to see it one more time and I am so glad I did. It was evident how Bruce has honed the show as he has performed it with changes to the script and staging. More importantly, it is evident how much more comfortable he is as a performer in this medium. He is more at ease, really having a conversation with the audience, taking his time and allowing himself to feel each segment as he shares it. In short, I think this show is a distillation of the experience of living - not just Bruce's life but everyone's. Worth any amount of money and effort you have to put into it to see this show before it closes!

    Bruce on Broadway!

by Nina53 on 10/22/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

I've seen Bruce probably 20 times. He, with and without the E Street Band, never disappoints!! This show was in a class of its own. We had no idea what to expect but we didn't expect this. I love that the audience totally respected the no phones, no recording during the show. You could have heard a pin drop when he was speaking. We all laughed right out loud and there was a lot of sniffling during the sad parts. With all the energy that he brings to every show, this was Bruce baring his soul. He is an unparalleled storyteller. The poet laureate of our time. The reworked songs, the talk in between...it was incredible, not something that I will forget soon. The theater is beautiful. The staff was very helpful. We were in the balcony and the seats were excellent. I really hope someone records this show and puts it out for people to see because it was truly remarkable! Thanks for the amazing experience!

    Awesome

by Arniej123 on 10/22/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Bruce was awesome on Thursday at Walter Kerr, In an intimate setting his talents were still evident at 69 yrs. old. I can't believe he played for three hours without an intermission. My wife is the true Bruce fan and I enjoyed it as much as she. I would have paid more for my ticket it was well worth it , to see Bruce in such a wonderful setting. If you are a Bruce fan run out to get your ticket for this event before the show ends on December 15th ,you won't be disappointed.

Springsteen like you’ve never seen him

by CandyGirl18 on 10/21/18Walter Kerr Theatre - New York

Bruce tells his life story with lots of humor, a few tears and a ton of songs. It’s just Bruce, his guitar and his piano, with Patti harmonizing on a couple/three songs. He played 2:45 the night we saw him.
