Springsteen on Broadway is a solo acoustic performance written and performed by Bruce Springsteen under the lights of Broadway. It is an intimate night with Bruce, his guitar, a piano, and his stories.
“My vision of these shows is to make them as personal and intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung, all of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal—to communicate something of value," says Springsteen.
Bruce Springsteen’s recording career spans over 40 years, beginning with 1973's ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ’ (Columbia Records). He has released 18 studio albums, garnered 20 Grammys, won an Oscar, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Kennedy Center Honor, and was MusiCares’ 2013 Person of the Year. Springsteen’s memoir ‘Born to Run’ (Simon & Schuster) and its companion album ‘Chapter and Verse’ were released in September 2016, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November last year. Springsteen’s The River Tour 2016 was named the year’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar. ‘Born to Run’ will be issued in paperback by Simon & Schuster this September.

A mystical experience while looking back over 60 years
Bruce was superbe as always. Actually also a great entertainer
It’s like an evening of listening to a friend reminiscing. Just Bruce with a guitar or on the piano (Patti comes out for two songs), with lots of stories and very heartfelt sharing.
If this weren’t Springsteen, this show would have closed in 3 weeks. Clearly a disappointment. Could have been so much more with minimal effort
Best performance I’ve ever seen on a stage and I see a lot, both theatre and music. A memory for life!
In a word, AWESOME! Truly a great ight. Not a concert, not a typical Broadway show.
Awesome - authentic, rare opportunity to get close to an insightful and complex character. You’ll laugh and cry in equal measure and will not be at all disappointed.
An exceptional evening with Bruce! Waited outside at the Walter Kerr Theatre for his arrival & headed inside for my 69th Springsteen performance & thee most intimate by far. Guitar, piano, harmonica, Golden stories & songs that spanned the decades of my life. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. So special when Patti was introduced,”Tougher than the Rest” & “Brilliant Disguise”. Thank you, Bruce for opening your heart & bearing your soul. Waited outside after the show & was able to get Bruce’s autograph on my 1973 “Greetings from Asbury Park” album, they’ll have to bury me with it. One of thee Best events to happen in my life!
Worth every single cent. I wish everyone could see this amazing show!
Worth every penny. Thoughtful talented man such a personal up close glimpse into the life of a legend. Will never forget it. No cameras allowed until after the show. Loved that. No distractions no one one got up no intermission.
Bruce Springsteen has always been memorable in concert. This five-performance a week scripted monologue with songs could have simply driven him crazy. Instead he makes the evening into a visit with a friend you hadn't met before. Absolutely spectacular. Be prepared tho -- his guitars are not acoustic. They produce a LOT of sound.
Bruce was awesome. I wasn’t sure if he could hold my attention for two plus hours in this setting ( though I’ve sat mesmerized through many a four hour E street show ) but he did just that. My only complaint is that the seats had too little legroom for my 6’2” self. I was physically uncomfortable for most of the show but would go again in a New York minute!
Great show! Saw it in March also, and couldn't believe it could be better, but it was "in some fashion". Slightly more personal which seemed hard as it already was very personal.
Amazing, beautiful, emotional, intimate, the most perfect show of any kind that I have ever seen!
It was a true sermon of life: intimate; simultaneously humorous and melancholy - a 2.5 hour heartfelt journey of enduring hope; it is an invitation to share in the man’s life who has truly affected millions and changed them for the better. The acoustic versions of favorites that accompany his oration chronicles the eventful, poetic odyssey from New Jersey to ten million hearts. My wife brought me as a surprise birthday present. The gift scale is forever weighted in her favor. As trite as it reads, I will never be the same person.
I’ve seen Bruce in other venues 11x before this, including in 1985 with the Born in the USA tour. I don’t even have the words to describe how amazing this show is. Beg, borrow, steal and go. You won’t regret it!
This performance is hard to explain to others, you have to be there. It is a very intimate setting, small enough to hear people gasp or take a deep breath when Bruce shares something intense. Very different in a great way than a Bruce concert. I'm glad I was able to be a part of this experience. The stories and music are entangled with each other in expertly created way so that you can hear Bruce bare his soul with his life story. Phenomenal!
Outstanding. Loved the stories and the songs. Terrific staff
