    From a 40something view

    by 20yearEDMfan on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

I've enjoyed electronic music for quite a while now but hadn't been to a festival until Spring Awakening last year. Most of the people who attend are young, really young. But it's not like anybody really cares. The energy of the festival is high and so are most of the kids there. It's what they do, so expect it and don't be alarmed or annoyed. Revel in it, remember how silly you were when you were young. Talk to the kids, they are happy to talk and dance with anyone. Enjoy it! The staff that work this festival have to have an amazing amount of tolerance as well. Everyone I interacted with from the security at the gate to the ladies in the restroom were extremely patient and upbeat. Special shout out to Joe at concessions, who I SWEAR I know somehow. :) Seriously, the staff was great.

Becoming Comericalized, But Still Best Festival

by Anonymous on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

Each year SAMF makes some changes, some better, some worse, that are all about maximizing their own profit. This year they restricted the age to 18+ and scanned IDs, and so the atmosphere was more adult and I enjoyed it much more. With 3 days, there were lots of artists that appeal to all subgeneres of EDM. They had some great headliners, and also some great up and coming artists. If you are a fan of EDM then you'll enjoy this festival. Consider bringing ear plugs since the speaker systems are that powerful you can feel the music in your lungs. Only warning is to bring a Camelback, you can fill it with water there and avoid paying $5 for a bottle of water. Also concessions are expensive (probably same prices as Bears games), and beer is so horribly overpriced.

Good way to start the summer

    by CB70 on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

This entire weekend was amazing. It was a little wet and a little cold but that is just the weather that can't be helped. Made some new friends, met up with some old friends and pretty much danced for 3 days.

    lame

by stepboogie on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

The best DJ's had the smallest stage. Headliners were crap. Second stage was the worst. Sound was good. It was literally the worst electronic dance music festival I've ever been to.

    Disappointing

by Sadvip on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

The vip was a disaster. Not only did they not have a seperate line for vip entrance, the entrance was just a blob of people forcing their way to the front. I saw multiple people rush the entrance and actually get in while the attendees watched. Then their was the VIP bar. These people were clearly never bar tenders. It took forever to get someone's attention and once you did they not only carded you for a wrist band but also I'd you Again. Wasn't VIP supposed to be 21 and up already? Complete waste of your bartenders time. If you're worried about underage drinking why don't you up your security? The music was amazing. The overall production by the staff was horrendous. I will never go to spring awakening again and have loved the event in the past.

    Biggest Baddest SAMF Yet!!

by MissCarra on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

The fact that they made this event 18+ was a lot more reassuring because people like to do stupid stuff. While there's still the issue with people being there for the wrong reasons, it is awesome that they now let you up to the second level, you're really able to get away from the bulk of people and just enjoy the music. Music which yet again blew me away! Such an awesome festival close to home :)

    festival organization was terrible.

by NateCakes on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

Spring awakening felt out of control. Security had no idea what with what they were doing. The will call process and ticket check in at the event needs to be thought out better. You should study other festivals like ultra in Miami and take notes on how they succeed and make a controlled and pleasant environment. I will never go back to Spring awakening. Also the timing of the lineup was a little weird. I'm not sure who the artistic director of spring awakening is but they got it wrong this year. Jack you should've closed out one of the nights that should've been at 6:30.

my life was changed after going to SA

by chamizo on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

most people unknowingly judge edm festivals because they think its only for druggies or sketchy people. but, they have NO idea. I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun as I had if I wasn't with all of my friends. Being with them and seeing most of my favorite artists made this festival unforgettable for me. I literally felt liberated and nothing else in the world mattered to me in that moment. I highly recommend everyone to make it out to Spring Awakening as soon as they have the opportunity. I want everyone to feel what I felt this past weekend.

Great festival for close to home

Great djs. Friendly people. No camping. They keep playing through the rain or shine. Allows hula hoops

    Progression towards perfection

by Chungmeow on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

Having attended the past few years, this year was by far the most impressive. Not only were the artists phenomenal, the venue continues to evolve into something greater. Something more... entertaining.

    Great event.

by Nahyan on 6/17/15Soldier Field - Chicago

This was my first music festival. I had a great time and did enjoy myself. The recommendations I would make are to make it more convenient to get into the VIP section that I paid extra for. It was discouraging when I was told that the section was at capacity. I mean I paid to be in that section and I was just told that the section was at capacity and I would have to wait for it to free up. Next time make the festival application for mobile devices widely available. This time it was only available for iOS devices. At least make it available for Android devices too. Also the app was not the best, consider simplifying it. The last recommendation is that VIP ticket holders should have gotten a discount on at least one piece of festival merchandise (I.e. a T-shirt or ttank top).
