    Unwigged, Unplugged, Unbelievable

by Douglick on 7/17/09Beacon Theatre - New York

Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest's Beacon Theatre concert proved not only that they are outstanding comic performers, but are talented musicians in their own rite. Jamming with the likes of a performer such as Elvis Costello, who does not suffer fools gladly, is a testimony to their musicianship. Their tight harmony on the variety of musical styles that they effortlessly mimic and skewer (eg.g. Country, Folk, Heavy Metal and Pop Rock) is amazing to hear and fun to watch. I had a smile on my face from start to finish for Unwigged & Unplugged. Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Unwigged & Unplugged Virgin, but it was amazing

    by zeldap99 on 7/16/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Only saw maybe an hour of Spinal Tap, so I knew who they were. Took my boyfriend there for his birthday because he is a die hard fan, and yet I laughed more than he did! Awesome show, those guys are hilarious!

    This was a fun show

by DoubleB on 7/15/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

It was a fun show. It might have been better in more of a music/concert setting. The guys were really funny though.

    Unwigged & unplugged

by Enourmodome on 7/15/09Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I didn't expect that this was going to be "Everything Spinal Tap" but the show was, overall, too low key and almost mundane. I would have liked to have seen more alternate versions of the music much like "Big Bottom"...that was a significant high-point.

    Tonight I was rocked, tonight!

by Zach87 on 7/14/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

How could the greatest fake rock band be bad? They can't. The trio performed hits from Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, and Waiting for Guffman and believe me, it was a night to remember. While there were a few misses, the 2+ hour show was basically brilliant. "Hell Hole", "Stonehedge", "Never did no Wanderin" and a interesting version of "Sex Farm" featuring a mini rap in the middle left me smiling. Not to mention the visuals the group used including dancing troll dolls being moved around a mini stonehedge on a rope. Hilarious, and the music was great too.

This was a great show. Whenever a show starts with Jamie Lee Curtis passing me in the aisle and smiling, its a winner.

    This trio never dissappoints

by juyi on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New York

I took my sister to see these gentlemen for her birthday, because they are her favorite performers... movies to the music she loves it all and the night we saw them in NYC they were excellent. You must have a certain warped senses of humor to enjoy them wholeheartedly so they are not for everyone, but those of us who ared a bit off the path were thoroughly entertained. Very nice surprise with Mrs M -- Annette O'Toole, her voice is gorgeous!

    The "Tap" boys quietly rocked!

by bobbymax on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New York

Was it Spinal Tap, the Folksmen or three musicians with guitars and microphones? I'd have to say a little bit of all of the above. I have seen both Spinal Tap and the Folksmen in concert and I have to say this stripped down version of the boys was really fun. They played all our favorite Spinal Tap and Folksmen tunes plus a whole bunch of new tunes to boot. There were video clips, lots of fun banter and a handful of guest stars throughout the night as well. The boys even did a question and answer session with the audience. If Harry, Christopher and Michael bring this show back to my neck of the woods I will definitely shell out some more cash to see them again. Don't miss out on the event of 2009!

    Unwigged & Unplugged

by SamSuz on 7/14/09Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I am NOT a pretend fan. I adore the guys. "Spinal Tap" is a favorite movie. Everyone around me sang the words to the songs, laughed in all the appropriate places, and smiled throughout the show. The Folksmen are sensational. I am so happy they made it to the big C city. Thank you all for coming to Columbus and please, please come back.

    Unwigged didn't feel Unplugged!

by whenshebegins on 7/14/09Beacon Theatre - New York

I have to say as a fan of these guys and the movies they put out, I was not disappointed at all. The show had me laughing from start to finish and the sound in the Beacon Theatre was great. They touched on all the great moments and songs from their movies and it was a fulfilling experience for a fan.

by HawaiianDee on 7/14/09Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Saw this show with my younger brother who hasn't even seen half of Christopher Guest's movies but we both had a great time and could not stop laughing even after the show. I highly recommend this to anyone!

Spinal Tap live? Live and acoustic? Yeah.

by mw138 on 7/14/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

This show was phenomenal. These guys are absolute showmen and surely rocked the house, even playing acousticly. The set was chock-full of great songs, not only from the Tap catalogue, but also from The Folksmen and others of the Mighty Wind era. Simply, Spinal Tap rocked our socks off.

    THIS IS TALENT!

by oneeyedsheep on 7/14/09The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

It was so much fun! A hilarious, and unforgettable night with comic and musical geniuses. Guest, McKean, and Scherer are big medicine. They have incredible wit, and had the packed Chicago Theatre in the palm of their hand, interacting with the crowd at times and taking everyone on a voyage of the hilarious trio's past musical achievements featured in the well-known Waiting for Guffman, Mighty Wind, and Spinal Tap. From top to bottom it was impressive musically, artistically, comedically, and technically and they kept our eyes glued to the stage, featuring their own wives in song and dance, showing fan-submitted music videos to Spinal Tap anthems and inviting a lucky guy in the crowd up to watch them up-close in 3D...which was hilarious. They also featured an incredible pianist who added a great deal of body to the already musically rich and catchy songs of Tap, the Folksmen, and others...What was especially impressive was that they were all so polished on each instrument they picked up and the vocals were magnifico.
