    Unwigged and Unplugged - Hilarious!

    by tmh1011 on 7/12/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I took my boyfriend to see Unwigged and Unplugged at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston. We're both huge fans of Spinal Tap and of the guys, collectively and individually. The show was fantastic. Not only are they hilarious, but they're incredible musicians. We would definitely go again, if given the opportunity.

    Unwigged @ Unplugged was brilliant!

by Tapgroupie on 7/12/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

One of the best concerts I have ever been to. They are all extremely talented musicians, songwriters and comedians. The show was a full two hours long. Not only was there music , there was also Q & A with the audience. Extremely gifted performers. The best!

    Spinal Tap/Folksmen fun!

by trygger on 7/12/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

These guys were great! Funny AND musically talented, they brought out nearly as much Mighty Wind stuff as Spinal Tap, all with zeal and style. The only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that the Wilbur is not the perfect venue. It is small, which affords good visibility and sound for nearly every seat, but it is old enough that the seats are cramped and not so cushy on this tired old backside. And they have a horrendously stinky bathroom on the upper level. Makes it hard to relax & enjoy while waiting in the lobby.

Not Best in Show but ...

by Preppy on 7/12/09Wilbur Theatre - Boston

My expectations for the event were exceedingly high. Christopher Guest is an underrated director and actor in the world of comedy. "This is Spinal Tap," "Waiting for Guffman" and "Best in Show" are movies that garner laughs with quirky characters, improvising their desperation and insecurity. "Unwigged and Unplugged" featured many hysterically toe tapping songs from the Guest films. Perhaps my favorite parts were the times in between songs when the trlio of Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer would trade barbs and memories. If there had been more commentary on the movies and shared experiences, it would have heightened by experience, which was slightly depressed by a few unfamiliar songs.

I had a great time at the show. Played mostly SPinal Tap songs, but mixed in new stuff and some songs from A Mighty Wind. Good music, funny, entertaining.

    My favorite concert this year!

by MomsterOH on 7/12/09Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I've loved these guys for a long time and when I saw they were doing a tour attending was essential. They surpassed my expectations. Not only are they hilarious, but I was impressed at what superb musicians they are. A really terrific event made even more special by Annette O'Toole joining in the fun, plus Jamie Lee and youngsters in the audience. A real family affair!

They played some songs, showed some video clips, did some comedy between songs and did a Q&A with the audience. It was really great and I highly recommend this show!

    Good Comedy, Great Musicianship

by OSUScooter26 on 7/12/09Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

Going into Unwigged & Unplugged, I really didn't know what to expect. Was it going to be a concert or a comedy show? I had heard reviews mostly suggesting that it was going to be mostly a concert, but I guess I didn't really believe it. The show opened with a vocal harmony and quickly went into one of their songs from a Mighty Wind I believe. It was two months ago, so my memory may be a bit off. The played all of the songs from "This is Spinal Tap" and a "Mighty Wind" plus some lesser known songs from their other individual ventures. In between songs, they would banter back and forth, which was very funny. They had a question and answer session that was about five questions long. They also played a video to one of their songs from a local youngster. Overall, it was a good concert. They play their instruments very well and sing wonderfully, so even if you aren't familiar with the songs, you can still enjoy them. I would have liked more comedy, but the stuff they did do was very good.

Unwigged & Unplugged not to be missed!

by Ferretguy on 7/11/09Keswick Theatre - Glenside

My wife and I both enjoyed the Spinal Tap boys in their show Unwigged and Unplugged. Mr. McKean, Mr. Shearer and Mr. Guest provided hours of music and comedy to the full house at the Keswick Theatre. Playing a mix of songs from Spinal Tap and A Might Wind the three kept the audience rolling in the aisle. (There was a surpise visit from Corky, too). The question and answer period was great fun. The show was well over two hours but went by in a jiffy. We couldn't stayed an listened to them even longer. Even if you aren't a huge fan of Spinal Tap or A Mighty Wind (and what's wrong with you if you aren't!?), go see this show.

    Entertaining and Funny!

    by Scotty2Hotty on 7/11/09Keswick Theatre - Glenside

These guys are great together. They have incredible musical talent. They engage the audience and invite audience participation. They share stories from their early days and behinds the scenes stuff for the movies and Music. For any fan of A Mighty Wind or Spinal Tap, this is an absolute MUST see. Fans of Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show and The Simpsons (particularly Harry Shearer) will also love the show. I would recommend this show to anyone and would have loved to see it again!
